So how bad has DIE infested your local school system? Here’s an objective measure

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 19:30 +0000

Yes, DIE – the proper way to “acronym” the deceptive DEI of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – the shift from “teaching to think” to “demanding emoting”. Shifting from “reading, writing, ‘rithmatic, logic, reason, history, science knowledgebase building” to “Oppressors vs Oppressed,  Social Justice, Sexuality indoctrination, and Equity (forced outcomes by groups) vs Equality (emphasis on the Individual instead of that group). DIE is more proper as it means the death of what the public schools are doing to educate our youngsters.

Think I’m kidding?  Ask your school district what their NEAP (standardized testing) is both before they went DIE and afterward. Typically, scores fall because the attention moves from academics to social behavior indoctrination. There are only so many hours in a teaching day and only so much that kids are going to absorb so much info (or stabilizing it) in that day. I already know the answer (we’ve blogged about this here on GraniteGrok).

Like most other States, NH has this same education problem and some want to make it worse (Exeter is one of the worst and is being sued over it – I’m trying to keep it from happening in my town by also suing).  That’s the Culture War vs Academic Rigor battle happening in your child’s classroom or school every day.  Some of it is driven by teachers, some by Administrations (think Superintendents), and some by school boards).  Often, it’s a case, for concerned parents, where to start first?  Or which area is the first area to get fixed (e.g., the worst first? Or start with the least Woke virus first?)?

Help is on the way, thanks to the Oregon Association of Scholars. They have come up with a measurement system that helps to objectify what is the rot in your system. While ostensibly set up for colleges and universities, it can be helpful at the school district/school level as well. Reformatted, emphasis mine:

New tool helps parents, students assess DEI ‘sickness level’ at schools

‘If you can’t measure it, you can’t fix it’

Center-right scholars have developed a measurement tool “scorecard” that allows students, parents, taxpayers and legislators to determine how embedded diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and practices are at a given institution. It will “allow stakeholders to assess the damage already done and identify areas for action,” said Portland State University Professor Bruce Gilley in a news release that called the tool a way to measure DEI “sickness” levels at colleges and universities.

The tool consists of a list of 36 items that colleges typically engage in, such as: requiring DEI statements for new hires; mandatory DEI trainings and orientations; equity grading mandates; land acknowledgements in university documents; DEI directors among top leadership; campus police trained in DEI; and optional pass/no pass allowances or other “de-grading” methods.

Observers mark a “scorecard,” with one point given for each DEI practice identified.

(Click to embiggen – and you should!)

Not only is this causing academics to drop, these DIE employees are prioritized – they get higher pay (the result of this new “fad” in education).

According to a Fox News review, at the universities of Michigan, Maryland, Virginia and Illinois, along with Virginia Tech, top diversity employees earn salaries ranging from $329,000 to $430,000, immensely surpassing the average pay for the schools’ full-time tenured professors, who earn between $100,000 and $250,000 on average.

A report published by the Martin Center, a nonprofit institute dedicated to improving higher education in North Carolina, reviewed the amount of money the UNC college system allocated to DEI initiatives.

“DEI, more than a simple way of thinking or a mere teaching material, has become a budget line item, as most UNC-System schools now have DEI-specific staff as well as departments. In total, 14 of the 16 schools have staff who specifically promote DEI, resulting in over $11 million going towards DEI staff salaries within the UNC System,” according to the analysis.

After all, brainwashing and indoctrination is a “skill” – turned into a racket for not just “true believers” but those wanting in on the graft and grift.

And you are paying for it – and not just financially.

The Excellence Exodus Explains Low Scores in Public Schools

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 18:00 +0000

We have low test scores for SAU34. Are your public school’s test scores taking a nose dive for the same reason? EXCELLENCE EXODUS???

Now that I have experienced it for myself as a parent, I can share what I see. I see a public school system beholden to its union and the CDC before the students or the wishes of the parents. The CDC put in more funds to many school programs than local taxpayers did last year, giving a private company more power over our children than parents.

If you were an able parent, a parent that COULD take your child out of that system, you would. That leaves the highest testing students out of the scoring, leaving many choiceless students with expensive needs and lower test scores.

We want to thank Betsy Harrington for this Op-Ed Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.

The high-testing students still exist. They still live in town. They just don’t participate in the school system for which their parents are paying taxes. And most importantly, their test scores are no longer counted because those parents want better and every student that leaves our public system for the better is a loss.

The highest testing kids are the ones leaving. For standards. Leaving to get away from an agenda they see well enough to act upon.

I think the usual things can still help the big picture, like hiring great teachers, using the best curriculum, and providing the best extracurricular activities. But the real reason our school system has such low test scores is that we have driven out all of our best students. They study somewhere else. And get tested somewhere else.

My children receive all A’s and test very well compared to their peers. My son won the highest academic achievement award for his school this year. If he chooses to study elsewhere, who loses? If you drive away the top students each year, the top keeps going down a little until your school system IS at the bottom.

You drive it there by leading your best students to the door with your policies and curriculum. We stand at that door.

My father was a public school teacher. MY teacher. I’m ashamed, but my hard-working sons deserve better. It’s not the same system. I see very inappropriate content and CRT in their school library now. They get this “inappropriate” education taught to them during the morning announcements via the intercom. Confusion is taught over logic. The agenda is unavoidable and can’t be denied.

Keeping the highest testing students should be a priority.

What if you lured back EVERY student that lives in your district, even the private school kids and homeschoolers? What would your test scores be like if you could count them?

Homeschoolers are known to be some of the top testers in the state, and we have some pretty good private schools around here. If all of those students were studying at SAU 34, we would have some of the top scores in the state. But instead of appealing to top student participation in school, we do the opposite. We drive away those students because their parents expect standards.

It’s easier to let them leave, and I’m sure there is a sense of relief once they are gone, but the testing consequences are real. Losing students who test well will drive down the school ratings faster.

New residents with potentially high testing students should be lured to our system to increase scores. To do this, there needs to be a system to maintain the top students and bring in these new students. High immigration means more opportunities for new students.

The parents of the top students (and of new students) should be asked what is most important to them.

Finding out why parents remove their students (or enroll them) and then acting on those issues will improve the situation.

The school will be able to use these improvements to argue that our school is “better,” especially to others considering our school.

And our school will have made these improvements, unlike some others.

I can see that we are already trying to make a culture change at SAU34. I think that is the first step, but we need to go much further to get our best students back and keep the great ones we have. We need to ask and then act.

I’m wondering what the other parents will say is important to them.

Massachusetts and Vermont Poised to Adopt California’s EV Only Mandate and That’s Bad for New Hampshire

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 15:00 +0000

To borrow from Forrest Gump, stupid is as stupid does, but that’s not all there is to say about California’s Vehicle emissions standards or why Vermont and Massachusetts (along with 15 other states) are poised to adopt them and an Electric Vehicle mandate.

Seventeen states with vehicle emission standards tied to rules established in California face weighty decisions on whether to follow that state’s strictest-in-the nation new rules that require all new cars, pickups and SUVs to be electric or hydrogen powered by 2035.

Powered by what?

California’s green energy dreams have forced them to tell the owners of the vehicles they’ve mandated not to charge them because there’s not enough electricity. In those parts of the state where it rarely gets cold, that’s less of a problem, but there aren’t enough electrons to run the Air Conditioning either. Not all of them. Not all at once.

Related: Winter is Coming: Is It Time for New England to “Pay” the Green Energy Piper?

The wealthy and politically connected will be able to heat, cool, and charge their vehicles because they are responsible for setting policies that fracture access and comfort by class—an intriguing contradiction from the party that loathes the privilege of the rich.

And not for nothing but the New England grid is sorely wanting for infrastructure and output to handle the load now. When Massachusetts and Vermont mandate electric vehicles by 2035, it impacts New Hampshire because we share the grid. And not for nothing (again) but electric cars are even less reliable in the cold, and it gets frigid in New England. So cold that the Climate Cult had to add extreme cold and more snow to the list of things caused by warming.

And isn’t that a hoot and a half?

We can’t use fossil fuels, but we are to convert to electric vehicles we can’t charge that don’t work as well in the cold because warming causes cooling. And there is an entire political party with baggage train (of RINOs and “Moderates”) compelled to go along.

Related: Democrat Solution to Democrat Created Problem – Charge $1000.00/ Year to Register Electric Vehicles

These are the people who yell drought every April and May but scream “extreme weather” if it rains in August and September.

Stupid is as stupid does is not just the people in office promoting these policies. It is the voters who keep electing them into office or, more recently, citizens not doing enough to protect the integrity of the vote.

And no, I’ve not forgotten that EVs are not green, CO2 is not our enemy, and suffering their solutions won’t make any difference, even if you believe it should. But Vermont and Massachusetts tied themselves to the California standard, which will impact New Hampshire. We’ve done next-to-nothing to ensure GraniteStaters have heat in the winter and “fuel” for vehicles, no matter what that means.

Is the plan to wait? To add useless and unreliable wind and solar? To force ratepayers to swallow more price increases (as if 110% were not enough). To become more dependent on foreign suppliers.

Democrats in the New England States are hungry for the EV mandate, and if we do not find a way to respond, they will take the New Hampshire Advantage down with them because you can’t run much of anything without energy, and we are tied to them at the hip.

ACT NOW! If You Want Changes in NH Election Laws and Procedures DO THIS…

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 13:30 +0000

There is a lack of confidence in the integrity of elections across America, and those feelings exist in NH as well. The difference with NH, though, is that NH Secretary of State David Scanlan is being proactive. He wants to understand why people have concerns about our elections – and he wants to hear your solutions that will lead to a higher level of voter confidence.

With that in mind, he created a Special Committee on Voter Confidence – with a mission “to identify root causes of voter confidence decline and make recommendations to reverse the trend.”

The Special Committee has met eight times during the past four months to listen to public input. Many election officials and election volunteers have testified they are confident in the integrity of NH elections – along with other NH residents.

But there are also others who have expressed concerns. Here are some examples…

One individual provided proof that the previous owners of his home continued to vote from his address.

Another presented documentation of approximately 1,000 examples of votes cast in the names and addresses of previous owners of homes they had sold to others. She followed up with thousands more.

Others have pointed to Attorney General investigations that uncovered egregious violations by election officials.

I know there are more people with more stories to share – because many of you have shared them with me. Whether you believe there is nothing to be concerned about – or you want to see changes…either way, you should take a few minutes and share your thoughts with the Special Committee on Voter Confidence.

The committee will put together a report for the Secretary of State during the next few weeks. Whatever your thoughts, whatever your concerns, whatever your suggestions for improvements… you should make them heard – and now is the time!  Email the Committee at: voterconfidence@sos.nh.gov.

It will only take a few minutes to send the email, but it can have an impact that will last a lifetime!

Palate Cleanser – One in a Billion Shot?

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 10:30 +0000

I have to say that this is a remarkable shot caught at exactly the right moment:

tree-hit-by-lightning Via @AnthonyWCHS / Credit: Debbie Parker

Too early and you’d not see that fire down the trunk. A few microseconds later, that tree could have been blown apart like a bomb as the heat of the strike could have instantly boiled the sap. That, of course, would end up with a instant truckload of either matchsticks or toothpicks.

Notable Quote – What Ails the Soul of America? He’s Right, You Know

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 01:30 +0000

Under what Power can a politician even have the HUBRIS to say they get to define what is our national soul?  Certainly, not Biden (emphasis mine):

Last night, the same president who almost exactly a year ago disgracefully abandoned 14,000 Americans and tens of thousands of our allies to the Taliban decided to lecture the US on “the continued battle for the soul of the nation.”

Let that sink in for a moment or two.

In that speech, Joe Biden tried to take the high ground for democracy against authoritarianism — just a week or so after eviscerating the constitutional check on the presidency by claiming the executive branch has the authority to print and appropriate between $600 billion and one trillion dollars to transfer debt from Biden’s base voters to the rest of the taxpayers.

Let that one sink in for another moment or two. Especially after Biden described “the work of my presidency” as returning the US to the founding documents of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

Joe Biden isn’t the solution for what ails the American soul. He’s not even really the main disease of what ails the American soul. Joe Biden is a demagogue who floated to the top of a morass that has been building for decades, and who only sees the problem to the extent that it benefits or harms Biden’s interests.

<snip>

….But even this is just a symptom of the problem plaguing the soul of America. Biden may not even be that far off of it, but he’s pointing his finger at the wrong end of Pennsylvania Avenue. The real problem plaguing America is a creeping authoritarianism that Biden is all too happy to indulge — when it suits him. But he didn’t start it, and to the extent he gets away with it, the blame doesn’t entirely fall on him.

That blame falls on Congress. It falls on a compliant media in bed with one political party almost without exception. And, to some extent, it falls on us.

Biden’s Academia bailout is a sterling example of Congress’ failure in this regard. Biden announced that he would appropriate hundreds of billions of dollars out of thin air (even by the White House’s estimate) to pay off the student-loan debt. He didn’t say he was moving the money around from other programs, as Trump did with wall funding, which itself was certainly debatable in terms of constitutionality. Biden will just borrow the money on his own.

That is a grotesque violation of one of the Constitution’s checks on executive power. The Constitution grants the power of appropriation exclusively to Congress, which limits the executive’s ability to spend money to only tasks authorized by Congress. In a sane constitutional model, we wouldn’t be waiting for Republicans to “pounce” and find someone with standing to sue over this in court. The leaders of Congress would have immediately gone to the federal court to preserve their institution’s constitutional authority.

…And why do we produce authoritarians? Mainly because Congress has spent the last several decades ceding its political and moral authority to the executive.

-Ed Morrissey (Biden’s soulless screed a smokescreen for what really ails the nation)

When those that are supposed to be RESPONSIBLE for their Constitutional Powers to keep them safe from the other branches (or the other chamber) fail to do so, it is we that suffer the end result.  It was thought that each branch would “jealously guard” its Powers from the others.  Instead of being three branches, we’ve devolved our Government to being just two Parties that are displacing those branches in unconstitutional actions.  Our Constitution is not built to handle this de facto situation regardless of what the de jure states – and almost anything can (and is) happening.

Instead of Constitutionally balanced, we’ve gone partisan warfare.  Morrissey is right – until WE decided to set things right, it’s only going to get worse.  Rome allowed its Executive Branch to take all of the power and its Senate just became partisan in bickering and essentially devolved to just flapping their gums, the Romans got their just desserts.

I’d love to say that we can learn from their mistakes but since we have an educational system that is devoted to not teach actual history (by invoking Woke mores and norms in judging ancient cultures – which is to say, not at all), I find it highly doubtful.

Hey Joe, I Am a Proud Member of MAGA

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-09-06 00:00 +0000

Joe, I am a proud member of the MAGA Republicans, and I am insulted to be labeled a domestic terrorist or a threat to Democracy. I watched some of your Democrat Senators on the Sunday shows, and they think you did not go far enough last Thursday with your obscene prime-time speech.

They called people like me Fascist. They define fascists as people who will not accept the results of an election or who stand by and watch as crimes are committed and do nothing. By that definition, let me remind you that Hillary Clinton and her followers are yet to concede the 2016 election, and they watched our cities burn during the Summer of Love. I will acknowledge they did something about the violence. They raised money to bail out anyone who burned a city building. Shall we lump all of those folks under our Umbrella of Deplorables?

Joe’s speech was a collection of claims that go far beyond projection. Let me tell you what we MAGA Republicans stand for, and you will see what I mean by projection.

Sovereignty: We believe in borders; secure borders. We believe anyone crossing our border illegally deserves to be treated as such. That means turning them around and watching them cross the Rio Grande back into Mexico. They do not deserve to stay in America, receive a free cell phone, a medical card, and a $700 luxury suite in a Times Square hotel.

Rule of Law: People who commit crimes should pay the price. That does not mean using their Get-Out-of-Jail-Free card repeatedly to hit the streets and continue their crime spree. Zero bail means no penalty, and to think these people will voluntarily report to court for their hearing is a fantasy.

Excess Government Spending Leads to Inflation: Fiscal constraints are necessary for a stable economy, and pushing fat-loaded social pending bills will quickly get inflation up over 9%. Oh wait, we are there already.

Energy Independence is Essential: relying on foreign countries, especially hostile countries, is harmful to National Security and leads to $5 diesel which fuels inflation. We went from exporting energy to begging Saudi Arabia, Russia, Venezuela, and even Iran for fuel in two years. Embarrassing and damaging for America.

Electoral College and Fair Elections: We are a Republic, not a Democracy. That is a concept lost on Joe Biden and the Democrats. The Electoral College puts states like California and New Hampshire on the same level. We believe in Voter IDs and voting reserved for citizens only. We think that absentee ballots should be an exception and not the norm.

Joe Biden claimed that MAGA Republicans are against each of those important considerations. He is rewriting history, just like our education system. It is weak and obvious. Actually, that makes sense since it is obvious that Joe is our weakest President in history, and only a distortion of the truth will get Democrats re-elected.

Removing Meat from Our Diets Won’t ‘Save the Planet’ – It Might Even Make Matters “Worse”

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 22:30 +0000

You are likely familiar with the war on meat, but in recent years, the antagonists have upped their game. Meat puppets among the ideologically complicit media happily repeat their claims without a spec of balanced reporting. And everyone is told to believe something misleading or just false.

Livestock, or meat animals, are not a plague on all our houses. They are beneficial in several ways while contributing next to nothing to emissions – if that’s something you are convinced is a problem.

The anti-meat movement likes to complain about how livestock consumes too much people-food and takes up too much land we could use to grow crops. But 90% of what ruminants eat is non-human edible, and two-thirds of the “agricultural land on which they graze is marginal or unstable to grow food humans can eat.

Related: The Elites’ Want You to Eat Bugs – But They are Toxic to Humans

Those are significant numbers. Removing meat from our diets frees up minimal arable land or food grown for humans.

A significant portion of agriculture grown for people is waste—shells, hush, skins, all the parts that people cannot use or digest. There is also significant agricultural waste – food made and prepared that lands in the waste stream. Over 80% of all food waste is agricultural human-edible food.

But you can feed most or all of that to cows, goats, sheep, and pigs. Livestock will eat the shells, hulls, husks, skins, and the people-food waste and convert them into foods we can eat, which have significantly more necessary protein and nutrients per pound than many, if not most agricultural products.

Neither cows, sheep, nor other livestock “creates” emissions that are not already present on the planet. The grasses grow by absorbing naturally occurring CO2 (airborne fertilizer) and rainwater. The animals eat and absorb or release back these back into nature. Nature eventually converts that back into its component bits which return to the earth as water and carbon dioxide, which makes possible the plants that the next generation of animals will eat.

Speaking of fertilizer. It is another byproduct of what we feed to livestock and is responsible for producing 50% of the world’s agricultural fertilizer, while 80% of the world’s “livestock emissions” occur in developing countries.

The West only accounts for 20%, and if you have not yet guessed, Americans’ total contribution is a fraction of the total global emissions, while we can produce 18% of the world’s meat with only 6% of the worldwide herd.

So, the next time you hear a 3-minute report on the news about how much better it would be if we stopped eating meat, odds are good they are leaving out details and not reporting the downsides of trying to shift everyone to a meatless diet.

And then there’s this, which I’ve shared before. And while it’s from a fictional television show, it is a simple fact.

Almost none of these “reports” begins to address the impact of food agriculture or its emissions footprint in comparison, probably because livestock is less and more crops would be that much more as would the waste left behind that we no longer have livestock to eat.

And what does adding agricultural waste do when it rots? It releases “global warming” gases that end up in the air without producing anything.

Will America Wake Up from This Grooming, Transgender Nightmare?

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 19:30 +0000

The 5-year-old NH girl was dressed in her older brother’s hand-me-down clothes and was off to school. When school officials called the child’s mother, she was concerned something was wrong. When asked what her daughter’s “preferred pronoun” was, the mother responded she was a little girl.

A year later, the school reached out again. This time the school officials wanted to know what bathroom her child preferred. The grooming had started.

The biological sex of over 99.9 % of humans is determined at the time of conception. Individuals born with an X Y chromosome have male genitalia and those with XX chromosome have female genitalia.

We want to thank James Betti for this op-ed. Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.

Gender dysphoria is defined as a person of one biological sex wanting to identify as the opposite biologic sex. It is a psychological condition that has no demonstrable genetic component. To make things more complicated, a person who psychologically identifies as the opposite sex doesn’t necessarily have a sexual attraction to that sex. For example, a biological female who identifies as a male can have sex with a biological male, get pregnant, and deliver a baby. This is the genesis of the “woke” absurdity that a man can get pregnant.

Prior to the 2000s, adolescent children with Gender Dysphoria were treated with support, both at the child’s level and family dysfunctional level. Approximately 80 to 95% of children, after going through puberty, accept their biological sex. Basically, they grow out of their gender dysphoria.

The Grooming of Transgenders is just a symptom of the Progressive disease.

In the early 2000s, a study emerged {now discredited} suggesting Gender Dysphoria patients had a higher rate of attempted suicide and that something must be done. In England, Finland, and Sweden, aggressive therapy with sexual reaffirming, puberty blockers, chemical sex hormone transition, and even gender reassigning surgery were performed. Initial studies were based on a small number of mostly biological male gender dysphoric patients, but as more publicity was placed on the condition, suddenly, there was a large increase in overall patients and, in particular genetic female patients, with multiple other significant psychological problems. Gender-affirming advocates point this out as an indication the previous low numbers of Gender dysphoria cases were the result of under-reporting. Critics rightfully point out the newly designated Gender dysphoric patients do not match the traits of historical patients, and something else, such as social media influence or encouragement {Grooming} is responsible.

In the last year England, Sweden and Finland have backed off aggressive intervention

for the psychological condition of gender dysphoria. They have recognized the harmful effects of aggressive gender dysphoric treatment. And are going back to the conservative time-tested treatment of supporting the child and helping with their environmental stressors such as home dysfunction. Except in extremely rare cases withholding puberty blockers, hormone manipulation, and gender-altering surgery is the new standard.

So how is it that America is moving in the exact opposite direction?

Despite Einstein’s truism that doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity, America seems determined to repeat Europe’s harmful gender dysphoria errors. Multiple organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Professional Association of Transgender Health {WPATH}, have guidelines recommending intervention in dysphoric adolescents with the use of puberty blockers, hormone manipulation, and irreversible gender reassigning surgery. Unbelievably WPATH is set to recommend lowering the age for use of puberty blockers. The Biden administration has doubled down on aggressive therapy and placed a known transgender extremist Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, as head of America’s decision-making. Despite the worldwide evidence that aggressive gender dysphoria treatment is harmful, American clinicians continue to look the other way.

Initial steps have to be addressed at the level of schools and medical care.

Florida has instituted the “Parental Rights in Education act,” which has stopped schools from teaching sexual orientation or gender identification before 4th grade. In addition, teachers will have to report any child’s physical or mental issues to their parents. Florida has also looked at the evidence base research regarding gender dysphoria and, similarly to Europe, has decided there is no good science to support using puberty blockers, sex-altering hormones, and gender reaffirming surgery prior to full puberty. They have stopped Medicaid funding and, with the Florida Board of Medicine’s backing, are on the verge of making aggressive child-harming gender dysphoria treatment illegal.

Although public schools are ground zero for the possible sexual exploitation of our youth {not to mention CRT exploitation}; the school administrators and teachers are not the root cause of this moral catastrophe. These civil servants often lack the background knowledge and intellectual curiosity to question their indoctrination. Those who do, quickly find out they either conform or move on. Many of these civil servants are nothing more than robots, programmed by woke seminars, doing the bidding of their progressive masters.

The real problem is “Woke” government agencies, mostly Federal but some State, who make policy {think Assistant Secretary of Health, transgender Rachael Levine}.

Secretary Rachel Levine

It is not only our children; America is also being groomed to embrace wokeness.

The Biden administration has put people in charge, not on the basis of merit but using the standard of adherence to rabid progressive dogma and Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity {DIE}. These individuals do not hesitate to wield their power. They have personal “Woke” agendas and are incapable of an evidence-based fair-minded approach. It’s not just Biden’s woke progressive government going after your children’s sexuality and force-feeding CRT.  The same concept is responsible for Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, allowing 5 million illegal aliens to invade our country along with sex traffickers and American youth killing fentanyl daily crossing the southern border.  Secretary of Defense, General Austin, a DIE appointment who is still looking for “White supremacists in the ranks”, has embarrassed our military by leaving Americans behind in Afghanistan and creating a military that is so “woke” it can no longer meet its recruitment needs. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, a former Governor with NO experience in the Energy sector, has dutifully destroyed America’s energy independence. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen, who championed massive federal giveaways, has brought back crushing inflation. The list goes on and on, but all have some things in common. All come with agendas based solely on the religion of woke progressivism. Many have pent-up anger from their own life experiences {think General Austin and Secretary Levine} and have not hesitated to force their personal views on America. The final thing they all have in common is they have failed miserably, and 74% of the nation believes America is on the wrong track.

Progressive elected officials are back in their States and districts, lying about their part in bringing all of this on to America. They are misrepresenting their part in confirming the Biden Cabinet incompetents and voting for massive giveaways which have sparked the worst inflation in generations. With a straight face, they tell you their promise to not raise taxes on people making less than $400,000 was kept; as you look at your energy bills, grocery bills, and mortgage payments, you cannot keep up. The average American is paying over $5500 extra/year {and going up} because of Joe Biden and these elected officials. They somehow defend forgiving individuals $10-$20,000 worth of student loans, forcing blue-collar Americas to pay for the excesses of college-educated progressive voters, increasing the national debt {$300 to $500 billion}, and further bankrupting our grandchildren. They tell you the $360 billion from the inflation reduction act {which doesn’t reduce inflation} is going to be spent on green energy and is going to save the world, but the WSJ reports it will only affect the rising temperatures by 0.0009 degrees Fahrenheit. All the while lining the pockets of progressive donors.

The grooming of the NH kindergartener is unconscionable, but it is only a symptom of the underlying disease. Similar to the abdominal pain that when investigated, uncovers incurable Pancreatic cancer, the grooming of our children is a late finding in the pernicious progressive disease process.

One can only pray it is not too late to save the country and make America great again! 2022 is here Vote

Palate Cleanser or BlogLine of the Day – Pick one: Irony, Electric Vehicle Edition

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 18:00 +0000

Coal miners help push tourists’ dead electric car in West Virginia. “Because the vehicle was plastic underneath, there was no way to tow it, so a group of miners decided to push it. ‘So here are 5 coal miners pushing a battery car to the coal mine to charge up.’ You could even see mounds of coal in the background while the vehicle was charging.”

TMEW thought I was having a fit when I was first reading this.  For all of the talk from those that want us to “electrify everything”, this was a dose of Reality crashing down on the virtue-signalers. According to the article, the coal miners were quite polite and willing to help.

There was no mention how the driver reacted.

Political Ad – “Stop the Insanity”

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 16:30 +0000

Sky News Australia has a segment that includes a very powerful political ad created by a group called Citizens for Sanity. The focus? The political left’s obsession with giving criminals more rights than everyday, law-abiding Americans.

Ed Driscoll at Instapundit thinks it might be one of the most powerful ads of the year.

He’s probably right.

Our Freedom Depends on an Unbiased DOJ

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 15:00 +0000

No one is above the law!

How many Democrats smugly trumpeted those words after the FBI raid at Mar-A-Lago? They happen to be right, in principle. In free, democratic societies, equal justice under the law is not just a cliché. It’s more than just a noble concept. It’s the lynchpin that holds all orderly societies together.

But when pontificating Democrats like Merrick Garland and Nancy Pelosi proclaim that no one is above the law, it sounds like the set-up for a joke. It leaves us waiting for a punchline that never comes.

We’re all too familiar with the rogues’ gallery of Democrat miscreants and lawbreakers who have never been held accountable for their actions, mostly because of a politically biased justice system.

Long before Hillary Clinton’s private server and the Biden’s influence peddling schemes, there was Eric Holder, Barack Obama’s attorney general and his self-described “wingman.” Holder had the distinction of being the first ever attorney general cited for contempt of Congress after obstinately refusing to surrender subpoenaed documents. He was never criminally charged.

And there was Sandy “Socks” Berger, Deputy National Security advisor under Bill Clinton. He was filmed stealing classified documents from a National Archives reading room by stuffing them in his socks and pants. He later lied about it to federal investigators. But after eventually pleading guilty, he paid a fine, and was sentenced to nothing more than probation and 100 hours of community service.

In 2013, James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence under Obama, provided false information to Congress while under oath. He escaped perjury charges by blaming his patently false statement on a lapse in memory – even though his office had been briefed on the questions the day prior to his testimony.

But all that pales compared to the Hillary Clinton scandal. The affidavit supporting the search warrant at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago sounds pretty damning. It’s filled with terms like “Top Secret,” “Sensitive Compartmented Information,” “evidence of obstruction, and “…imprisoned not more than ten years.” But those exact words would have been used in any affidavit supporting the indictment of Hillary Clinton – if only the FBI director had not arbitrarily determined that “…no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case.”

And there’s so much more.

In 2016, a few senior FBI agents took it upon themselves to prevent Donald Trump’s election to the presidency. Determined to thwart the will of the people, they did all they could to promote the Russia collusion narrative. Though that attempt failed, they had better success in the 2020 election, by suppressing credible, and deeply troubling information about Joe and Hunter Biden’s influence peddling scheme. Those efforts helped elect our current president – one who may now be under the influence of one or more geopolitical adversaries. It’s a possibility reinforced by Biden’s globalist, socialist, and outright anti-American policies.

And we shouldn’t forget the incident involving pro-abortion activists. They harassed and attempted to intimidate our Supreme Court Justices and their families for weeks on end, following the leak of the Roe v. Wade decision. It was a blatant and outrageous violation of federal law. But because the pro-abortion cause is supported by Democrats, Garland chose to look the other way.

The unprecedented overreach targeting a former president and the apparent effort to eliminate a potential political rival is just the latest example of the injustices meted out by this Department of Justice.

For obvious reasons, most Democrats don’t see a problem, but any reasonable person looking at the recent history of the DOJ and FBI can only conclude that it’s not just liberal bias. They’ve become weapons of the Democrat Party, routinely wielded against political opponents. There’s something else that reasonable people should agree upon: Democracy can’t exist where the rule of law is subverted by politics.

There is a glimmer of hope, though.

No one ever joins the FBI to target political opponents or to sway American elections. They set out to fight crime and corruption and to help keep our country safe from its enemies, foreign and domestic. But power and hubris often breed corruption, and as idealistic young agents move up the ranks, some of them, the Peter Strzoks and Timothy Thibaults, lose sight of their purpose.

Perhaps our best hope for reforming the FBI lies with the dedicated and principled insiders, the growing number of whistleblowers who haven’t forgotten why they joined the bureau. They’ve come under pressure recently by the same man determined to pervert their mission. Garland issued a memo several days ago aimed at blocking further communications with congressional representatives. But the vast majority of agents still believe in the ideals reflected on the FBI seal – fidelity, bravery, and integrity – and the oath they took to “protect and defend the Constitution.” They won’t all be silenced. They may be our best hope to reform the FBI and DOJ, and save our democratic process.

Data Point – US Strategic Petroleum Reserves at a 40 Year Low…and Falling FAST!

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 13:30 +0000

Is this an indication of a “forcer event” for Biden to look us in the eye and announce that there’s no more oil for America?  And that he then closes down, under some Green New Deal pretext all oil production and refining?  Sure, releasing that much oil has, in part, reduced the price at the pump (e.g., pandering for votes to make people forget the $5/gallon prices that aren’t all THAT so long ago) but is there ANOTHER purpose to do so?

What happens if the SHTF and we lose because we have no petroleum for the military??

And then Secretaries Petey Buttigieg and Jennifer Granholm will then get on their EV hobby horses and say “BUY AN ELECTRIC CAR!!!” showing just how much they despise the rest of us.

And remember, Biden has sold 6 million of our oil to our geopolitical enemy – China.

Irony Alert: Coal Miners Push Tourists’ Dead Electric Car to the Mine for a Charge

Granite Grok - Mon, 2022-09-05 12:00 +0000

You may have seen pictures of an Auto club that has arrived with a gas-powered generator to recharge a motorist stranded in their dead Electric Vehicle. A priceless moment. But if we’re talking emblematic EV moments, this one is hard to beat.

West Virginia state Senator Randy Smith shared a picture of five coal miners pushing the “dead” Electric Vehicle up to the mine so it could get a charge.

The car broke down right in front of the Mettiki Coal access road on US 48, which is several miles from Davis. “Someone called one of our foreman and told him a car was broke down in the middle of our haul road,” said Smith’s post.

Because the vehicle was plastic underneath, there was no way to tow it, so a group of miners decided to push it. “So here are 5 coal miners pushing a battery car to the coal mine to charge up.” You could even see mounds of coal in the background while the vehicle was charging.

Looks to the left of the car and to the right of the “shed.” Do you see that pile of coal? Another iconic, if not an ironic, image of these so-called green vehicles

And I’m not trying to nitpick (yes, I am) but is ‘broke down’ the correct term for the circumstance? Batteries charge and discharge. It is what they do. A fully discharged battery is not broken. It’s just down.

The vehicle’s operator might have had a breakdown, but the car was fine. Well, as “fine” as can be given the situation, there are pictures all over the internet of helpful coal miners pushing your EV up a hill to a coal mine shed so you can get a charge.

It’s not Iwo Jima, but it’s pretty damn iconic.
