Lying and Spying — The Yotaphone Hoax

Libertarian Leanings - Wed, 2022-04-20 16:21 +0000

Margot Cleveland:  New Documents Suggest Democrats Sicced The CIA On Their Domestic Enemy, The President

Newly released CIA memoranda suggest the tech gurus behind the Alfa Bank hoax also tracked Donald Trump’s movements to devise another collusion conspiracy theory. While smaller in scale than other aspects of Spygate, the Yotaphone hoax represents an equally serious scandal because it involved both the mining of proprietary information and sensitive data from the Executive Office of the President (EOP) and the apparent surveillance of Trump’s physical movements.

[...]

Foremost, of course, was Sussmann’s claim “that he was not representing a particular client,” even though the previous month he had told the former CIA agent his client “cares about the security of the country.” Also, according to Durham, Sussmann continued to represent Joffe during this meeting.

Relatedly, Sussmann told the CIA that his “contacts” “preferred anonymity, citing a potential threat from the Russian Intelligence Services.” But as other court filings established, Joffe had previously shared information with intelligence agencies directly, making a claim he sought anonymity for safety reasons suspect.

Also false, according to the special counsel, was Sussmann’s claim during his February 9, 2017 meeting with the CIA that “one of his contacts,” who was a “clearance holder,” had collected the data from his “private collection.” While that may have been true about the data collected for the Trump Tower, Trump’s Central Park West apartment building, and Spectrum Health, the data related to the EOP was accessed and maintained by Joffe’s employer “as part of a sensitive arrangement whereby it provided DNS resolution services to the EOP.”

Joffe’s exploitation of the government’s EOP data to take down the president of the United States presents another huge scandal.

Most Popular President Ever

Libertarian Leanings - Wed, 2022-04-20 14:11 +0000

April 19, 2022 — President Joe Biden speaks to adoring throngs in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  Biden is the most popular U.S. president ever, having received a record 81 million-plus votes in the 2020 election.  His election was aided by a covid pandemic which became the pretext for changing voting laws in many states, thus expanding mail-in voting, selective ballot curing, and illegal ballot harvesting.  Barack Obama set the previous record for a winning presidential campaign in 2008 when he received 69 million-plus votes.

Why Clinton Will Lose the "Privilege" Fight

Libertarian Leanings - Wed, 2022-04-20 09:41 +0000

Techno Fog:  Clinton Campaign: Fusion GPS provided legal advice

Back in August 2017, Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee, explaining how his firm was retained to gather “lots of facts about Donald Trump.” He admitted that Fusion GPS met with reporters leading up to the 2016 election to spread opposition research against then-candidate Trump.

The context of Perkins Coie’s retention of Fusion GPS was further explained in a book co-authored by Simpson and Fusion GPS co-founder Peter Fritsch. They documented an April 20, 2016 meeting with Mark Elias (Perkins Coie partner and counsel for the DNC/Clinton Campaign), where Elias requested their services for opposition research:

Now the stories have changed.

Fusion GPS is no longer an opposition research firm, and they weren’t hired to dig-up dirt against Trump. Instead, they would have you believe, after the phony dossier and the Alfa Bank hoax, that Fusion GPS was retained to provide legal advice to the Hillary Clinton Campaign. Remarkable.

Jacques Baud, a NATO expert, denounces western coverage of the Ukraine invasion.

Libertarian Leanings - Tue, 2022-04-19 16:02 +0000

Jacques Baud:  Former NATO Military Analyst Blows the Whistle on West’s Ukraine Invasion Narrative

The problem is not so much who is right in this conflict, but how our leaders make their decisions.

Let’s try to examine the roots of the conflict. It starts with those who for the past eight years have been talking to us about “separatists” or “independence” from the Donbass. It’s wrong. The referendums conducted by the two self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Luhansk in May 2014 were not ”  independence ” (независимость) referendums , as some unscrupulous journalists  claimed , but ”  self-determination  ” or ”  autonomy (самостоятельность). The term “pro-Russian” suggests that Russia was a party to the conflict, which was not the case, and the term “Russian speakers” would have been more honest. Moreover, these referendums were conducted against the advice of Vladimir Putin.

In fact, these republics did not seek to separate from Ukraine, but to have a statute of autonomy guaranteeing them the use of the Russian language as an official language. Because the first legislative act of the new government resulting from the overthrow of President Yanukovych, was the abolition, on February 23, 2014, of the Kivalov-Kolesnichenko law of 2012 which made Russian an official language. A bit as if putschists decided that French and Italian would no longer be official languages in Switzerland.

This decision causes a storm in the Russian-speaking population. This resulted in fierce repression against the Russian-speaking regions (Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Lugansk and Donetsk) which began in February 2014 and led to a militarization of the situation and a few massacres (in Odessa and Mariupol, for the most important). At the end of summer 2014, only the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk remained.

Our Stolen Election — They Didn't Steal It, They Bought It

Libertarian Leanings - Tue, 2022-04-19 11:10 +0000

The Washington Times: Groups with strong liberal ties funneled massive 2020 election grants to Democrat-rich districts (Subscriber only)

Private donors led by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg pumped more than $400 million into administering the 2020 presidential election, money that was often funneled by Democratic operatives into Democratic districts in what became essentially a get-out-the-vote effort for Joseph R. Biden.

The total amount of private donations for carrying out the 2020 election exceeded the federal government’s entire allocation for election spending that year.

The U.S. Election Assistance Commission was responsible for administering the $400 million in “election security grants” that Congress approved in 2020 to help local officials administer the election during a pandemic.

The private funds were distributed on an unprecedented scale to voting districts across the country by nonprofit groups staffed by former Democratic operatives who sought the help of left-leaning government officials.

These groups funneled much of the money to cities and counties rich in Democratic voters for purposes that appear less centered on voter safety and more focused on increasing turnout among certain groups.

[...]

Tom Bonier, an analyst with the Democratic market research firm TargetSmart in Washington, told The Guardian in December 2020 that the increase in mail-in ballots in the presidential election was “crucially and critically important to Biden’s win.” He concluded, “There’s absolutely no way we would have hit these record levels of voter turnout, nationally, without this massive adoption of mail voting.”

Whose Claims Were They?

Libertarian Leanings - Sun, 2022-04-17 16:07 +0000

If Sussmann made his bogus Alfa Bank claims to the FBI on behalf of a client, isn't it the client making those claims through its attorney?  Jonathan Turley thinks so.  Bold type below added.

Jonathan Turley:  Durham: Five Witnesses Connected to the Clinton Campaign’s False Russian Claims Have Refused to Cooperate Under the Fifth Amendment

Special Counsel John Durham continues to drop bombshells in filings in the prosecution of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann. Just last week, Durham defeated an effort by Sussmann to dismiss the charges.  He is now moving to give immunity to a key witness while revealing that the claims made by the Clinton campaign were viewed by the CIA as “not technically plausible” and “user created.” He also revealed that at least five of the former Clinton campaign contractors/researchers have invoked the Fifth Amendment and refused to cooperate in fear that they might incriminate themselves in criminal conduct. Finally, Durham offers further details on the involvement of Clinton campaign general counsel Marc Elias and former British spy Christopher Steele in the alleged false claims.

[...]

According to Durham, the Alfa Bank allegation fell apart even before Sussmann delivered it to the FBI. The indictment details how an unnamed “tech executive” allegedly used his authority at multiple internet companies to help develop the ridiculous claim. (The executive reportedly later claimed that he was promised a top cyber security job in the Clinton administration). Notably, there were many who expressed misgivings not only within the companies working on the secret project but also among unnamed “university researchers” who repeatedly said the argument was bogus.

The researchers were told they should not be looking for proof but just enough to “give the base of a very useful narrative.” The researchers argued, according to the indictment, that anyone familiar with analyzing internet traffic “would poke several holes” in that narrative, noting that what they saw likely “was not a secret communications channel with Russian Bank-1, but ‘a red herring,’” according to the indictment.

Lying and Spying

Libertarian Leanings - Sun, 2022-04-17 11:41 +0000

Hillary Clinton Campaign attorney Michael Sussmann has been indicted by Special Counsel John Durham for lying to the FBI.  When Sussmann met with the FBI in 2016 to alert them to suspicious internet traffic between a Russian bank and a Trump email server, he said he was a concerned citizen doing his patriotic duty, not representing any client.  No big deal, right?  What's a tiny white lie when America is at risk of takeover by Putin puppet Donald Trump?  If Trump had a secret communications channel for receiving his orders from Putin, the FBI should investigate it.

Small problem number one:  The FBI decided nothing was nefarious about the DNS lookups (Domain Name System) between Alfa Bank and the Trump email server.

Small problem number two:  Sussmann billed his time preparing for and attending this and other meetings to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.  It gets worse.

Techno Fog:  CIA Bombshell: The Sussmann data was "user created"

Durham provided to the Court two sets of notes related to Sussmann’s representations to the CIA. The first was from Sussmann’s January 31, 2017 contacts with a CIA employee where Sussmann discussed wanting to provide to the CIA data on “the presence and activity of a unique Russian made phone around President Trump.” It was said that this secret activity started in April 2016 and continued after Trump’s “move to the White House.”

Sussmann alleged the Russian phone (YotaPhone) was always close to Trump (“only around the President’s Movements”), surfacing at his Trump Tower Network in April 2016 and being used through Wi-Fi at Trump’s Grand Central West apartment. The phone even “appeared with Trump in Michigan” when he was interviewing a Cabinet Secretary.

At a minimum, this confirms what we reported nearly two months ago: that the Trump transition data was passed to the CIA. Yet it’s also more than that. The CIA was provided with data all the way back from April 2016.

[...]

The CIA reviewed the Trump/YotaPhone data (and the Alfa Bank data) in early 2017. The fact that the CIA accepted this data on President Trump is its own scandal. In any event, the CIA’s findings are significant, as they concluded that the data was not “technically plausible” and was “user created and not machine/tool generated.”

(bold above in the original)

Michael Sussmann's little white lie has opened a can of worms, revealing a well coordinated project involving a law firm, an investigative firm, a technology firm, researchers at Georgia Tech, the news media, and the Clinton campaign.  And there is sure to be more.  In fact, Durham granted immunity to one of the Georgia Tech researchers, and he plans to grant immunity at trial to an employee of the investigative firm.  Immunity in a case about lying to the FBI?  Though no one has been charged with it, the word "conspiracy" appears in the filings.

Durham Investigation — The Big Picture

Libertarian Leanings - Sun, 2022-04-17 11:35 +0000

Mark Wauck, Meaning in History:  John Durham Wishes Everyone A Happy Easter!

Durham’s memorandum is being billed on the conservative interwebs as a “bombshell”. It basically is, although there’s disagreement regarding what further conclusions can be drawn from Durham’s revelations. Among those who have weighed, to one extent or another, are: Sundance, Techno Fog, and Nick Arama at Red State.

Sundance mostly refers the reader to Techno Fog’s analysis. However, he does also take a jab at Durham, claiming that Durham is—in the big picture—simply taking down Sussmann in order to protect the true malefactors: the government officials in the Intel agencies, the FBI and CIA. My own view is that that’s not where Durham is coming from. However, as a former but now, I hope, fully recovered believer in Bluto Barr I have to be careful to hedge my bets. Whether or not Sundance is correct about Durham to this extent, he (Sundance) is pointing to real questions—although he doesn’t spell them out. Presumably Durham knows the answers to those questions.

To be clear, Durham’s memorandum does make public just how strong a case he has against Sussmann—and presumably against Joffre, as well. Joffre has been designated as a “target” by Durham, but remains unindicted. To me, Durham’s case looked strong before, and it now seems overwhelming. A bit of history may be useful at this point.
