NYT: A Sensible Bill on Medical Marijuana

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 16:02 +0000

The New York Times

Three senators, two Democrats and a Republican, introduced a bill on Tuesday that would allow patients to use marijuana for medical purposes in states where it is legal, without fear of federal prosecution for violating narcotics laws.

The bill makes a number of important changes to federal marijuana policies — and it deserves to be passed by Congress and enacted into law. Though this legislation would not repeal the broad and destructive federal ban on marijuana, it is a big step in the right direction.

The most important change would reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act, which is intended for drugs, like heroin, that have no accepted medical use in the United States, and place it instead in Schedule II, the classification for drugs that have a legitimate medical use but also have a “high potential for abuse.”

Wikipedia sues NSA, DoJ over mass surveillance

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 15:47 +0000

March 10, 2015

The nonprofit Wikimedia Foundation, which runs Wikipedia free online encyclopedia, is preparing a lawsuit against the US National Security Agency and US Department of justice over a mass surveillance program initiated by the government.

Wikimedia is heading to court to prove that NSA’s Upstream program gathers foreign intelligence information through capturing communications with “non-US persons,” reports Reuters.

“Our aim in filing this suit is to end this mass surveillance program in order to protect the rights of our users around the world,” Wikimedia said in a statement.

16 Year Old Brandon Keibler Discusses the Launch of Project Digital Privacy on the Lions of Liberty Podcast

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 15:11 +0000

In this episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I am joined by Brandon Keibler, the sixteen year old founder of "Project Digital Privacy", a group which aims to end local and state level mass digital surveillance in the United States. Brandon begins by describing how he first became politically aware at the age of fourteen, when he learned of the Edward Snowden revelations while on vacation. Brandon then details how, after co-founding Restore the Fourth to draw attention to mass surveillance at the national level, he decided to start Project Digital Privacy in order to focus on surveillance at the local level. Brandon and I discuss just how local police departments are able to spy on digital communications, why digital privacy is so important even for those who feel they have "nothing to hide", and how knowledge of surveillance stifles political speech. Finally, Brandon has some advice for other young people who see a problem with how their government is operating, before I wrap things up with my typically rant-y ways!

A Different Look At "The Mark Of The Beast"

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 14:46 +0000

Some times I think of something, and then I can't figure out what took me so long to think of it.

I am a word nerd so when I wonder what something REALLY means, I look up what it meant when it first came into use. Working backwards, "beast" means wild animal, or fool, idiot. Interesting...

Hillary Busted Stone Cold - Lying Through Her Teeth (Update - Caught AGAIN!)

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 12:38 +0000

It is stunning to me. The Clintons are consummate liars, they have been lying and getting away with it for so long they feel invulnerable. This is second grade level "conspiracy" here, and they FAILED. When telling a lie where you use "an alibi" you have to compare notes with the person you are claiming as an alibi. These two are married, and apparently know so little about each other that she did not know he does not use email, and he did not know she was going to seek shelter under his skirt. Er, blue dress.

Update: It seems the top lip does not know what the bottom lip is saying...

A Government Public Service That Actually Serves The Public

"Ecuador Alerts Public to CIA Actions Across the Continent

To raise public awareness of the atrocities committed within Ecuador and the long-term damage caused by CIA interventions throughout Latin America, Ecuador’s Foreign Ministry has printed and widely distributed copies of the book in Spanish and English."

Not the US government, of course.

Hillary: Just Trust Me on This One

Daily Paul - Wed, 2015-03-11 00:23 +0000

In her first public comments on a controversy involving her emails, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton answered questions from the press for 20 minutes, but her response amounted to this: You've just got to trust me.

Clinton revealed that she had sent and received more than 62,320 emails from her private account. Of those, 30,490 she deemed work-related and turned over to the State Department. The other 31,830 she apparently deleted. The central question of the jousting match between Clinton and reporters was how she distinguished the personal emails from those relating to her official duties. Her explanation was simple: She decided.

Ireland just accidentally legalised a bunch of drugs! Oops! haha

Daily Paul - Tue, 2015-03-10 22:58 +0000

And of course everyone is asking why they aren't legal to begin with and why it cant stay that way.

For the next 24 hours, a host of Class A drugs are legal (or else in a legal quandary) in Ireland due to an accidental loophole in drug laws.

Tea party may be on verge of becoming a 3rd party

Daily Paul - Tue, 2015-03-10 22:44 +0000

WASHINGTON (AP) — The political chaos in the first two months of the new Congress, despite Republican control in both houses, may signal that the tea party is morphing into a quasi-third party, a deeply conservative band of legislators who routinely thwart Republican vows of effective government.

Most recently, a group of tea party Republicans forced House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner to turn to Democrats to pass a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, particularly striking at a time when the U.S. is battling Islamic State group attempts to hold huge parts of Syria and Iraq and wreak havoc in North Africa.

Did 47 U.S. Senators Just Commit Treason By Attempting to Sabotage Iran Deal?

Daily Paul - Tue, 2015-03-10 13:23 +0000

Note the cover of the rag features a photo of Rand with "TRAITOR" splashed across the page. I read the letter, it did not seem that bad to me and I am not especially sympathetic to Rand. However, I do submit this as evidence that Rand can't win. Even when he kisses Ziobutt they will find a way to demonize him. Not clapping fast enough, now "traitor."

I do not point this out to discourage people from doing what they want and can for Rand. I say it to caution those who were like me in 2007 and actually believed I could help change the policies of the "US" government. It broke my heart and did the same for my bank account. Do not bother, it is all a show to let the sheep believe they are picking their wolf. It is a unique opportunity to wake up sheep, so if you have the will to do so, I applaud you. Just understand you are not going to make Rand our next president barring some sea-change in the awareness of the general public.
