How could trillions of dollars be laundered from the Wash DC regime to Saudi Arabia? Why, through Citigroup, of course.

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-03-13 03:22 +0000

http://www.barnhardt.biz/2015/01/09/how-could-trillions-of-d...

A clever reader with probably more knowledge of the Middle East than they would care to have put before me a very interesting question. Is the US laundering money to Saudi Arabia through Citigroup in order to “hedge” against, or compensate Saudi Arabia for the drop in oil prices?

Well, it sure as hell looks like it.

I recently tweeted the reportage on the massive derivatives position being accumulated by Citigroup (the parent Holding Company) and Citibank (the bank held by Citigroup HoldCo) – $135 TRILLION. Citi is adding roughly $10 TRILLION PER QUARTER, and the bank is now holding MORE derivatives than the parent HoldCo, which is unprecedented and shocking. Even worse, the bank – the derivatives holdings of which are now “guaranteed” by the FDIC, which is to say the US TAXPAYERS, thanks to the Cromnibus bill – is where the exposure is being added – $9 TRILLION was added to the Citibank portfolio within the third quarter of 2014 alone – the latest available data. Citi is the only big bank that is INCREASING its derivatives position, all the other big banks have modestly reduced their derivatives exposure in the same time period. But Citi is piling it on as hard and fast as it can – NINE TRILLION $ IN ONE QUARTER!!

Do you know who the largest private shareholder of Citigroup is?

Rare.us: Signing Cotton’s letter was a step too far for Rand Paul

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-03-13 02:56 +0000

by Matt Purple, Rare Staff | March 11, 2015

Consider this hypothetical scenario. The Iranian parliament, the Majles, assembles and hardliners begin railing against the country’s chief nuclear negotiator, Mohammed Javad Zarif. They call for a vote of impeachment and the measure narrowly passes. Nuclear negotiations with the U.S. are thrown into chaos. Many Iranian MPs, clerics, and newspapers gleefully claim the talks no longer have legitimacy.

As evidence for the vote of impeachment, the hardliners’ Exhibit A is the letter sent to Iran’s leaders, drafted by Senator Tom Cotton, and signed by Senator Rand Paul.

After all, the conservatives reason, why should we place any more faith in Zarif? Didn’t America just admit the negotiations are a charade, to be canceled on a whim by the next president?

Could this happen? Fortunately it isn’t likely, but there is significant precedent. Last year, hardliners in the Majles tossed out Iran’s science minister, who they felt was doing too much to liberalize the country’s universities. They also barely lost a vote to censure Zarif, who stood accused of calling the Holocaust a “horrifying tragedy.” After Zarif was photographed in January taking a friendly stroll with John Kerry, hardliners summoned him back to the Majles for another round of haranguing.

Handgun Ammunition Vending Machine Owned By A Candidate For County Sheriff Is Raising Eyebrows

Posted by John Paul
March 03, 2015

A vending machine operated by a candidate for Beaver County Sheriff that distributes firearms ammunition is raising some eyebrows. The machine is installed inside of the Beaver Valley Rifle & Pistol Club, offering both rifle and handgun ammunition and operating in the same fashion as vending machines commonly used to sell snack foods.

RIP Terry Pratchett & "How Terry Pratchett Made Me a Libertarian"

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-03-12 23:28 +0000

Sir Terry Pratchett, fantasy author and creator of the Discworld series, has died aged 66, eight years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.

"The world has lost one of its brightest, sharpest minds," said Larry Finlay of his publishers Transworld.

The author died at home, surrounded by his family, "with his cat sleeping on his bed", he added.

Sir Terry wrote more than 70 books during his career and completed his final book last summer.

He "enriched the planet like few before him" and through Discworld satirised the world "with great skill, enormous humour and constant invention," said Mr Finlay.

"Terry faced his Alzheimer's disease (an 'embuggerance', as he called it) publicly and bravely," said Mr Finlay."Over the last few years, it was his writing that sustained him. His legacy will endure for decades to come."

Sir Terry leaves wife Lyn and daughter Rhianna.

The announcement of his death was made on Sir Terry's Twitter account on Thursday afternoon, with Rhianna later writing: "Many thanks for all the kind words about my dad. Those last few tweets were sent with shaking hands and tear-filled eyes."

How Terry Pratchett Made Me a Libertarian
The fantasy author whose Discworld novels talked up liberty and self-ownership has died at 66.

It may difficult to explain how remarkable Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel series is in the way it expressed concepts of liberty and self-determination to a libertarian who has never read him. Two of the protagonists in his fantasy universe were a police officer and a self-described "tyrant" ruling the city of Ankh-Morpork, an imaginary analogue of a Renaissance-era big city like London. That doesn't sound like the kind of people a libertarian would want to follow around through book after book. There's also an orangutan who is a librarian.

Rand is Right to Redraw Iraq Map.

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-03-12 23:10 +0000

Rand Paul is right to want to redraw the Iraq map. Not because I am a doe-eyed Rand fan. Not out of any secret Neocon conspiracy, but simply to right the wrongs of the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916, wherein the French and British had arbitrarily drawn the lines of newly-minted middle-eastern nations, paying no attention to long-standing ethnic and religious divisions that had been in place for centuries - and some for millenia. The Sykes-Picot Agreement ignored the existence of concentrated Kurdish and Turkmen majorities in areas of northern mesopotamia and southeastern Turkey ignored Shi'i majorities in southern mesopotamia, and druze majorities in areas of the Levant and transjordan, and propped up the puppet hashemite kindgdom of King Faisal (descendant of current Jordanian king). This was a recipe for disaster, and a powderkeg of ethnic and religious tensions, waiting to be lit - the product being perpetual war and profit by those who can step to the plate to arm or finance. The Balfour Declaration (established the state of Israel), in my opinion, was yet another chess-play by the banking elite, to have perpetual conflict and perpetual profit.

For Rand to step in and want to redraw the map, is to finally bring justice to many a people that had long been forgotten and stomped upon by foreign interests with no care for peace.

Where I have a problem, is using US taxpayer dollars to arm, fund, or otherwise support such a movement. We should simply support the redrawing in principle.

I Don't Know What's Best For You

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-03-12 18:09 +0000

What should you do? How should I know? How could I possibly know? I don't have your memories, your experiences, or your preferences. I don't know what you value now or what you will value in the future. I don't know what trajectory you are on or which trajectory will take you to a better place.

I can tell you what I would do in your situation. I can tell you what's important to me. This may help you in your situation. Comparing and contrasting can be quite helpful.

I can tell you the possible consequences of your actions. I can say "well, if you do this, then this might happen." I can warn you about the pitfalls of this or that, based on my experiences. However, you should not take my experiences as a reflection of what would happen if you did the same thing. As the saying goes: your mileage may vary (YMMV).

I can tell you what I would like you to do. You should always weigh this against my own interests. Will I feel genuine pleasure from seeing you succeed? Am I steering you toward my vision of the world? Do I want to reassure my own beliefs by spreading them onto others? Am I protecting my feelings?

Kentucky students get hard lesson in politics from lawmakers

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-03-12 17:22 +0000

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — A group of bright-eyed, clean-cut high school students whose ideas of government were shaped by "Schoolhouse Rock" wrote a bill and watched it sail through the Kentucky state legislature this year in the type of feel-good story that had parents beaming.

But politics can ruin anything.

The bill would let high school students be appointed to committees that screen new school superintendents. But at the last moment, a Republican state senator pulled an old legislative trick, tacking a controversial amendment he wants passed to their widely supported bill. Then another added a contentious amendment of his own.

Liberty Rising: OK House Oks Bill Ending State Marriage Licenses!

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-03-12 16:50 +0000

“The point of my legislation is to take the state out of the process and leave marriage in the hands of the clergy,” said state Rep. Todd Russ, R-Cordell, the bill’s House author. “Marriage was historically a religious covenant first and a government-recognized contract second. Under my bill, the state is not allowing or disallowing same-sex marriage. It is simply leaving it up to the clergy.”

Uh oh... there's controversy...
