2022 Fashion Trends for Summer and What to Buy

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 12:17 +0000

Whether you’re planning to spend your summertime in the city partying with your girls, heading for the beach, or anything in between, there’s definitely a summer clothing trend for every occasion you might have.

Summer styling is arguably all about comfort, versatility, and ease. What fashion items will make you feel the most carefree, comfy, and confident while staying true to your style? Preparing your warm-weather wardrobe—from shoes to shorts to accessories—is only half the battle. The other half of the fun is styling your outfits, and summer is all about effortless fashion.

Fun, happy-go-lucky colors, subtle skin flashes, and light fabrics are a few fashion trends we’re gunning for in 2022. Ahead, check out our top picks for 2022 fashion trends that’ll be all the rage this summer season. These summer styles are approved by leading fashion experts, trendsetters, and stylists.

Cute Women’s Shorts

Bold and cute shorts are back in style, baby, and we love them. If you ask us, shorts are the comfiest and most reliable bottoms women can rock in warm weather. So although micro minis and 1990s retro trends have recently had their moment in the limelight, the power of a cute pair of summer women’s shorts remains unbeatable.

Let’s give shorts their due respect and attention, shall we? After all, these bottoms can be so much more reliable and practical than dresses and skirts, particularly during those windy summer days. Better yet, Sanctuary clothing says that shorts for women can be incredibly versatile—you can wear your favorite pair out on a date, to brunch, or even to work.

According to a recent piece by The Wall Street Journal, some office employees and their organizations are starting to embrace shorts, paying homage to the trendy work-from-home fashion. Of course, shorts began their fashionable return in spring, but this summer, they are back with more bang and even cuter.

This year’s summer shorts come in all shapes, sizes, and price tags, which means there’s a style for every woman looking to try the trend. Of course, you must find a shape or style that works for you, from baggy to slim-fit, mini, midi, or Capri lengths.

For instance, if you want to create a work-friendly outfit with a serious dose of glamor, you won’t go wrong with a pair of paper-bag or high-waist shorts. Pair your paper-bag shorts with a tucked-in, tailored button-down top. Layer an open blazer or cardigan over the top and finish off the outfit with a pair of low heels or espadrilles.

On the other hand, if utility is your thing, look no further than khaki shorts. They’re cute yet versatile and super-practical for just about any plans you might have for summer. A pairing of khaki shorts and a white silk long sleeve blouse is a safe bet for a variety of relaxed occasions. Complete the look with a pair of chunky high heels or something cute like suede ballerinas.

Denim shorts are another must-have in your summer wardrobe. Cute options in style this season don’t feature cliché distresses or rips, which makes them an all-summer staple. Try teaming your blue jeans shorts with a simple white sleeveless top for a more laid-back approach to summer styling.

Micro Mini Skirts

Micro mini-skirts are one of the most rave-worthy fashion trends for summer 2022, partly thanks to Miu Miu and Miaou. These itty-bitty bottoms are already reigning supreme, sending longer dresses and pants to the back of the wardrobe until the colder months come knocking. They’re great for showing off your beautiful tan skin and staying nice & cool all summer long.

Ever since the micro mini brought back the Y2K trend, the big question has always been: how do you wear such a short skirt off the runway? Even though they can be risqué, micro-minis can make perfect outfits if styled correctly. And the answer is right there: wear these micros with equally itty-bitty tops.

Of course, you should ditch skin-hiding pieces like turtlenecks and chunky knits for crop tops and cute bralettes. For instance, you can marry your favorite micro mini-skirt with a small blouse for a skin-showing summer outfit.

Alternatively, you can wear your micro mini with a structured blazer to add a strong power punch to your summer ensemble. The pair might not be appropriate for the office, but it’s undeniably sexy. A fashionable corset top can also do the trick.

Bold, Bright Colors

The events of the past two or so years have made us feel bogged down and stagnant in various ways—and fashion is no exception. This year, fashion experts and stylists are banking on the return of dopamine-dressing-friendly styles like neon brights and fringes to lift our spirits and moods.

Bold and bright hues attracted a fair share of attention on last year’s runways and will undoubtedly stay trendy well into fall. We expect to see these bold colors in just about any piece of clothing on red carpets, street style, and beyond.

So, for the summer, say adieu to your neutral pieces in favor of the hottest pinks and brightest blues (and every bright hue in between). While the warm weather will birth numerous bold color styles (read: purple, neon green, and orange), pink will rule the roost. For inspiration, look at the Grammys 2022 red carpet, where celebs like Billy Porter and Saweetie rocked many shades of the hot hue.

These bold colors work in matching sets, as well as with neutrals. Don’t forget about exotic bright colors like sorbet, mustard, and lilac, amongst many others.

Platform Shoes

After many years of naked straps and minimalist soles, platform shoes are making a comeback. “The higher the heels, the better,” is the slogan for footwear designers this season. And if what we saw in various runways is anything to believe, this shoe trend will stick around for a while. From Versace to Nodaleto, platform shoes are the most prominent summer trend.

The trick is to go strappier, chunkier, and higher with your platform heels. However, if you’re not ready to go all-in with platform shoes after wearing super-comfortable slides and trainers for months, look for casual and smart-casual style inspiration from celebs. Hailey Bieber pairs her platforms with a tailored blazer dress, while Dua Lipa sticks with an open cardigan and a mini skirt. It’s all up to you.

Wrapping up…

Styling outfits this summer is about pieces that provide a nice balance between casual, comfort, and chic factors. With bold colors, cute women’s shorts, and mini micro skirts, there’s a style for all your summer plans, from rooftop parties to vacations to weddings.

How Much Are Nashuans Willing to Pay For Secrecy?

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 12:00 +0000

Citizen participation in their local government depends on the goodwill of those serving. Laws exist that permit citizens access to meetings and records, but without the goodwill of those serving to provide access and records, it all falls apart.

Nashua’s officials lack the goodwill expected of public servants. The City is undergoing a major expansion and redevelopment effort of our Downtown. Many of these high-cost projects are not open to public participation. Public records of meetings and minutes are not maintained and provided to the public per the law. Tracking what is really going on is nearly impossible and extraordinarily frustrating. One such project is the Nashua Performing Arts Center (NPAC).

The secrecy surrounding this project is so high that the Corporate Attorneys Bolton and Leonard and Economic Development Director Tim Cummings are not willing to state whether the NPAC joint committee or the three corporations that comprise the joint committee are public entities. More to come on this.

The secrecy surrounding this project is so high that the Board of Aldermen did not identify this committee on the city website. The Board approved 2 of the Corporate entities that make up this joint committee through Omnibus Resolution O-20-094. They appear to be public entities, but the City will not confirm this.

The secrecy surrounding this project is so high that minutes and agendas have not been posted on the City website. Citizens had no way of knowing that this joint entity even existed.

The secrecy surrounding this project is so high that the project costs are being withheld from the public. There is no publicly available history of the change orders approved for the construction of this downtown facility. This $25 million dollar project is heading for cost increases. But that too, is shrouded in secrecy.

The secrecy surrounding this project is so high that the meeting minutes recorded by the Board do not meet the requirements of the law. These legal requirements are minimal. It is inexcusable to not record the motions of the Board and provide a brief explanation of the items discussed. A review of the May 9, 2022 meeting minutes shows that the Board provided no update on the financial and construction project. How could the board skip these major agenda items? The meeting has no motion to adjourn. Did the meeting last 5 minutes or 2 hours?

I don’t want to pay any more of my money for secret projects that are supposed to be public. How much more do you want to pay?

How Many Election Laws Were Broken by Gunstock Mountain’s Tom Day for Sending $500 of Gunstock Funds to Sununu’s Campaign?

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 10:00 +0000

AND then Gov. Sununu’s campaign Manager Paul Collins for accepting it?

The news broke last night Statewide – but I actually “nuanced” the story yesterday morning on Life with Liz radio show. Here is the check that I spoke about:

Interview is from 7 min 30 sec to 21:40

There are multiple election laws that have been broken here. I’m no lawyer but there is one that is looking into them all for me. When I get them, I will update this post.  In the meantime, here’s a bunch of things wrong:

  • This was signed by Tom Day, now former President and General Manager of Gunstock Mountain Resort (GMR). He is NOT part of the Gunstock Area Commission –why did HE sign this check?
  • GMR is a Government department of the Belknap County just like the Nursing Home, the County Jail, and the Sheriff’s department. THIS IS NOT PERMISSIBLE!!
  • WHO GAVE HIM PERMISSION TO SEND GOVT MONEY TO A POLITICAL CANDIDATE?  I can find no GAC minutes that contain a vote to send such a donation by the Commissioners.
  • The GAC itself is a Commission within Belknap County – a political subdivision. It is ILLEGAL for them (as well as GMR) to donate to a political candidate – much less their “highest” Boss, the Governor.
  • Is this more of Kiedaisch’s “Rules are for little people” attitude – and sending Government money to a close friend (re: his boasting about his “in” with the Sununu family)
  • Or, was this an “advance payment” for this part of Sununu’s missive about Gunstock?

And that’s not the worst of it.  Paul Collins is a long time political operative here in NH and has worked for the Sununu family for a long time. He is also the one that notified me that Sununu was not going to participate in a GrokGauntlet (in an e.e. cummings style):

good morning mr. murphy,

thank you for reaching out, but we will pass.

pjc

He signed the Nov 3, 2020 Friends of Sununu campaign financial report.

Here is the complete manifest (image only). The Gunstock Area Commission is on page 5, line 9. How could Collins NOT know that Gunstock, given the ties to the ski area that Sununu has, is a government agency?

Friends of Sununu Nov 3 2020 Campaign fund manifest

I looked for any names that looked familiar, and I did spot a donation for $1,500 from John M Formella of Portsmouth – is this the same person as our now-current Attorney General?  I also saw Ken Merrifield for $300 listed as “agency head” (NH Commissioner of Labor).

So the Gunstock Area Commission wasn’t the only government agency giving agency money to their boss.

So there are a few questions to be asked about this!

Key Tips for Choosing a PPC Agency

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 09:00 +0000

When it comes to choosing a PPC agency, there are many things you need to take into account. Not all agencies are created equal, and finding the right one for your business can make a world of difference in your advertising results.

If you end up choosing an inadequate PPC agency, you run the risk of messing up your initial PPC campaigns. That can be costly in terms of time and money. This article will help you avoid those mistakes and provide information on what PPC agencies do, the benefits of hiring one, and the best practices for vetting them.

What does a PPC agency do?

A PPC agency is responsible for managing your pay-per-click campaigns. That includes developing strategies, conducting keyword research, setting up ad groups and targeting, writing ad copy, managing bids, and budgets, tracking results, and performing optimizations.

PPC agencies generally specialize in one or more areas of paid search marketing. For example, some focus exclusively on Google Ads, while others may have expertise in Amazon Advertising or Facebook Ads. Therefore, it’s essential to choose an agency with experience with the platform you want to advertise on.

What are the benefits of hiring a PPC agency?

First, they can save you a lot of time. Developing and managing a successful PPC campaign while working a full-time job is challenging. You’ve got to be on top of the copy, analyze the data, and manage the campaigns. When you outsource or partner with a PPC agency, they save you the time and headache of managing that campaign. In addition, the experts get to focus on what they do best while you focus on running your business.

Second, they have the tools and resources to do the job right. There are a lot of paid search platforms and a variety of tools to manage them. Unless you’re working in the marketing industry, it’s unlikely that you have access to all of the paid search tools out there. A good PPC agency will have licenses to the best ones and know how to use them to get you results.

Third, they keep up with the latest trends and changes. The world of digital marketing is constantly evolving, and it can be hard to keep up with all the changes. So when you partner with an agency, they make it their business to stay on top of the latest trends, so you don’t have to. That way, you can be confident that your PPC campaign is getting done correctly.

How do I vet and choose a PPC agency? Look at past clients, testimonials, and case studies

The first step in your vetting process is determining which agencies to book a consultation call with. That means you must use the information available to you on their site. According to Digital Authority Partners, the three most important pieces of information you’re looking for are past clients, testimonials, and case studies.

A good PPC agency will be proud to showcase its work and will have no problem sharing references with you. However, if they don’t have any past clients listed on their site, that’s a huge red flag. Similarly, if they don’t have any testimonials or case studies, that also causes concern.

When looking at an agency’s past clients, make sure they’re in a similar industry as you. For example, if you’re a B2B company, you want to ensure the agency has experience working with other B2B companies. The same goes for B2C companies. You also want to make sure they have experience working with companies of a similar size as yours.

As you look at testimonials, pay attention to the language used. Are they generic statements like “They’re great to work with” or “They get results?” Those are fine, but they don’t tell you much. Instead, you want to see specific examples of how the agency helped their clients succeed.

When reading case studies, pay attention to the results achieved. For example, did the client see an increase in conversions? A decrease in cost per conversion? Please note those numbers so you can ask about them later.

Ask the right questions.

The next step is booking a call or beginning an email thread to ask questions. The goal here is twofold: first, you want to see how they communicate, and second, you want to get a feel for their process.

To start, ask about their experience with your industry and the type of business. As we mentioned before, it’s important to choose an agency with experience working with companies like yours. If they don’t have any experience in your industry, that’s not necessarily a dealbreaker. But it is something you should take into consideration.

Next, inquire about their team. Who will be working on your account? Make sure to get the names and titles of each team member. Then, you can check their LinkedIn profiles if you’d like. That will give you a sense of their experience and what they offer.

It would help if you also asked about the tools they use. As we mentioned, there are many paid search tools out there. A good agency will have licenses to the best ones and know how to use them to get results.

Finally, inquire about their process. How do they approach paid search? What kind of deliverables can you expect? When will you receive reports? The more transparency they can provide, the better.

Understand how much you’ll be spending.

Lastly, it’s vital to understand how much you’ll spend with the agency and the PPC ads themselves. There’s no magic number here – it all depends on your budget and goals. But you should have a good understanding of what you’ll be spending before signing a contract.

To get an idea of ad spending, ask the agency for a few examples of past clients who had similar budgets to yours. Then, you can look at those clients’ accounts to see how much they’re spending. That will give you a baseline to work from since managing PPC campaigns is difficult.

Takeaways.

When choosing a PPC agency, it’s essential to do your research. Look at their website, read their case studies and testimonials, and book a consultation call. During the call, inquire about their experience, team, process, and tools. And finally, understand how much you’ll be spending on ads before signing a contract. By following these steps, you can be confident you’re choosing the right PPC agency for your business.

Protecting Children Is a Parental Right

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 03:00 +0000

In response to The Groomers Running Our Public Schools — How they Groom the Girls (GraniteGrok, July 23, 2022), Ann Marie Banfield’s brilliant expose of Montgomery County, MD school policy regarding  ‘Gender Separated Areas,’ first and foremost, I think everyone agrees that parents (or guardians) are 100% responsible for children’s health, safety, and well-being, and must make it their business to be aware of any school policies that possibly pose a threat to their children and act accordingly.

Further, parents must educate themselves to honestly determine if their children are vulnerable to solicitation by sexual predators no matter where they might appear, including in familial situations. Children must be educated to recognize and report warning signs directly to their parents (NOT to school counselors or administrative staff) and, unfortunately, about how to escape from difficult situations.

Parents must not allow adult persons whose backgrounds are unknown (especially any criminal history) to be alone with their kids under any circumstances. The same rings true for shared facilities in schools. Parents should heed school policy to request that their child be provided with an alternative arrangement.

As a former private investigator, I served as a child advocate and investigated suspicious persons attempting to groom parents to get close to their children. My “bibles” were materials published by the National Center for Missing Children written in cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (Behavioral Science Unit), including Child Molesters: A Behavioral Analysis; For Law Enforcement Officers Investigating Cases of Sexual Exploitation:

Even just a quick read will scare responsible and possibly naive parents straight. Please pass this valuable information on for children’s safety.

Gunstock-You want EXTREMISTS?? Let Me Present “Citizens for Belknap”‘s NH State Senate Wannabe Tim Lang – and Arrogant Overreach

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 01:30 +0000

Remember (and I’ll keep doing so) Tim Lang is the State Rep that was Sununu’s buddy during the long pandemic of deciding who among we NH residents were essential – and who wasn’t.

In doing so, he was hand-in-hand (if not effectively in charge) with Baby Huey on both deciding which businesses lived – and which died (and reveled in it). And because of the Power derived from being the head of Sununu’s Task Force for this, he was complicit in the removal of our civil and constitutional Liberties. It was “for your own good” dontcha know!

But that’s just a reminder. The Citizens for Belknap will be supporting him in his run to replace his “political father”, Bob Guida (tied to both Sununu and Gary Kiedaisch) who upon announcing his retirement from the NH State Senate, “anointed” Lang to be the next State Senator. Since then, he’s doing all he can to raise his name recognition. The problem for him is that not all tries are successful. This one is a #FAIL.

If you’ve been reading the ‘Grok on a regular basis, you know that the Citizens For Gunstock (and before) has been on a full fledged multi-front assault with one purpose: Stop the investigations that the new Commissioners started as a result of rumors of malfeasance and possible corruption by prior ones + Sr. Management. There’s a reason why that Sr. Mgt all quit last week en masse – and I have those documents now and will be posting them up in a while. A secondary reason is to destroy the Republican Party here in Belknap.   Thus, the campaign of what the Left always accuses the Right of doing but we see them doing it all the time – like now.

Part of the Multiple Pincer Movement in this case was to start getting the Delegation involved as the Delegation can remove Commissioners “for cause” – a marshalling the Mobocracy that’s been whipped up to taint the Legislature.  It’s clear that Citizens for Belknap has been ginning up the mobocracy and the long political knives of revenge are coming out fast and furious by sitting and prior politicos. And the CoB has PLENTY of money to spend and I’m betting not all of it is being spent on the constant barrage of ads in the Daily Sun and those really expensive multi-colored road signs.

And ever being the Political Opportunist comes the next Extremist – NH State Rep Tim Lang.  Seeing that furthering the process of demonization is increasing in velocity in trying to get the two Commissioners doing the most digging into the dirt (Strang and Ness), Lang decided to force the issue by working to call for a special meeting of the Belknap County Delegation.

Sidenote: Jade Wood has been a complete disaster. While the CoB is playing 4D chess, this inept politician can hardly find a checkerboard.  It’s clear that she is so blinkered focusing on the idea that ONLY Gunstock is the only issue, she can’t see what the multiple end goals are. In this she is being the quintessential “useful idiot” in not realizing what really is at risk here – Gunstock is only a symptom but she won’t take advice to the contrary.

So Tim Lang whipped up the Lang Gang (Mike Bordes, Travis O’Hara, and Doug Trottier) to get five of the needed ten. He then ended up with eleven Reps agreeing to call for that meeting as allowed by the rules but by telling them (and I’ve talked to a few of them yesterday) it was JUST TO GET INFORMATION – to “get a discussion going”.  To him and the CoB plan, that was All that REALLY mattered – get the meeting planned. The screw over would happen next.

And then, like all those that live, not by the Rule of Law, but by “Any means necessary, he THEN prepared the following as a Press Release with an Agenda that none of the other Reps had seen (reformatted a bit, emphasis mine). Such a deal – hiding the truth from those he simply deemed, IMHO, “useful idiots”:

Letter sent to the County Administrator by a quorum of the Belknap County Delegation today calling for a meeting of the Belknap Delegation, I want to thank these members for stepping up.

Message to the County Administrator:

We the undersigned quorum of the Belknap County Delegation, request the County Administrator immediately schedule a meeting of the full Belknap County Delegation as soon a legally possible given public notice requirements.

In light of the ongoing crisis at Gunstock Mtn Resort including:

a) the closure of the Mtn,
b) the ongoing exodus of GMR staff,
c) the resultant negative economic impact of the ongoing closure to Belknap County business and residents,
d) the Belknap County Citizen’s petition calling for the removal of GAC Commissioners Strang and Ness for cause,
e) the fact that GAC Commissioners Woods and Lambert have called for the resignations Commissioners Strang and Ness, and
f) lastly the most recent letter from the Belknap County Commissioners calling for the removal of GAC Commissioners Strang and Ness for cause

The quorum of the delegation therefore, in alignment with our Statutory duty of appointment and removal (for cause) of the members of Gunstock Area Commission, the County Administrator shall schedule a meeting of the delegation to take evidence and testimony as to whether these said GAC Commissioners should be removed for cause and take actions accordingly.

Additionally, and acting out of an abundance of caution prudence, add to the agenda a discussion and vote for the appointment of a temporary GAC Commissioner for a limited time period; only for so long as it takes the Delegation to advertise, interview and vote for a permanent GAC replacements as needed.

Rough agenda:

  • Call order
  • Pledge
  • Opening statement about meeting agenda: (Public comment vs testimony)
  • Public comment (not to confused with public testimony on removal for cause)
  • Testimony/evidence presentation of the for cause removal including public input.
  • Up/down Vote on removal if appropriate.
  • Discussion and possible vote on temp commissioner as outlined above.
  • Other business

Adjournment

The County Administrator may format the above agenda as needed for publication.

Sincerely Submitted:

Representative Harry Bean
Representative Mike Bordes
Representative Juliet Harvey-Bolia
Representative Gregg Hough
Representative Tim Lang
Representative Richard Littlefield
Representative Jonathan Mackie
Representative Travis O’Hara,
Representative Thomas Ploszaj
Representative Douglas Trottier
Representative Dawn Johnson

Submitted for the above by:

-Tim

Those that I have scratched out (there may now be others) have removed themselves subsequent to the publishing of this publicly. ONE that I know, immediately removed himself when he heard (so I was told) that Kiedaisch “revoked” his resignation. In fact, the time line was that THIS meeting notice came out first and only a few minutes later, Kiedaisch “revoked” his resignation.

Can you get any more scripted than this??  That one triggered the other?

And what is “for cause“??  In this case, the equivalent of “mean tweets”? Doing the digging that they were supposed to be doing in the first place?  Or does “for cause” mean “finding stuff we didn’t want found”?

Note to Tim – also, there is nothing in Law that allows for a “temp Commissioner”.  That’s a lame equivalent of what Kiedaisch tried to do to keep Rusty McLear in that Commissioner seat even longer by calling him a “de facto” Commissioner – which also does not exist in Law. Both attempts are/were meant for one thing – a tipping of the Power base on the Commission to stop the investigations (and I haven’t even talked about the hotel yet).

In talking with some of them, upon hearing about this new flanking maneuver, the other multi-level politics that was going on, and what the real end goals are (another post – this is getting long), had their names removed.  One, upon hearing that  Kiedaisch “revoked” his resignation, withdrew his name as well.

Gunstock-You want EXTREMISTS?? Let Me Present “Citizens for Belknap”‘s and former GAC Commissioner Gary Kiedaisch

Granite Grok - Thu, 2022-07-28 00:00 +0000

Alternative Title: Kibosh for Kiedaisch

Obligatory: the picture at the definition of “Arrogant” has Gary Kiedaisch next to it. Why?

Sorry, but just SAYING that you are “retracting” your “I Quit” that you uttered last week (video here). However, he has a history of thinking that just because he says something, everyone HAS to believe him.  Like when he let people know that the Gunstock Area Commission’s ByLaws trump NH State Statutes.  He really believes that – after all, he refused to believe me when I told him, several times, that GAC and Gunstock Mountain Resort are not a separate entity from the Belknap County and part of State Government – he and the Sr. Management of GMR WERE on their own and not subject to laws constraining any subdivision of the State.

Again, see above “Obligatory”. So here’s his attempt to revoke his resignation:

However, he’s got SEVERAL problems with thinking this is legal and that anyone is going to believe him.

First, he makes the claim that because the Belknap County Delegation hasn’t yet acknowledged his “resignation”, he’s free to rescind it.  There’s a BIG problem with that – unless there is an officially noticed meeting of the Delegation, they can vote on NOTHING. They can’t do ANYTHING without that official meeting status.  The plain truth is that he resigned “in between” meetings – their next meeting isn’t for a while.

Thus, this line of reasoning is a #FAIL.

Second, I went through the GAC ByLaws as well as the enabling / authorizing Legislation that strictly controls what the GAC/GMR can or cannot do.  Once again, the SCOTUS decision, W. Virginia vs EPA, as well as NH’s status as a Dillon’s Rule State, that holds that unless a Legislature EXPLICITLY tells a subdivision of the State it can do something, it can’t.

In this case, I searched “resign”, “resignation” and “quit” in the ByLaws and Statute;they don’t occur in either.  This is important for the following reason.

The Legislature did not state that either the Delegation or the GAC Commissioners MUST (e.g., “SHALL”) affirmatively accept ANYTHING related to a resignation. Thus, merely saying so at a meeting, and in his case, walking out the door, is sufficient.

Here is the resignation he gave last week:

So what is done, is done.  It’s clear that Gary Kiedaisch believes he can make up his own rules on the fly and expect everyone else just follow them because he is Gary Kiedaisch.  THAT is being an Extremist!  Further, I’m betting that he is going to try to seat himself at the GAC table come the next meeting. I would advise the Chair of the GAC immediately tell him to leave for that Extremist behavior that HE gets to make the rules – he doesn’t.

I would also advise the Chair of the Delegation to also be at that meeting and be ready do to the same thing to this Extremist that he was forced to do with prior Commissioner Rusty McLear.  If you remember, he had been appointed to finish someone else’s term – and he overstayed by months. He also, made up his own rules to stay.

And if necessary, if Kiedaisch refuses to leave, he needs to be escorted out by Law Enforcement as necessary.

After all, even Extremists are supposed to Follow the Law. The problem is that they believe that the Law is only for us little people – they are above it and subject to it.

Here is the PDF that was sent to me containing both of the above:

GAC – Gary Kiedasch revoking his resignation

Matt Mowers Complicit in Sabotaging President Trump

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 22:30 +0000

According to reports, Matt Mowers was instrumental in the appointment of discredited Dr. Deborah Birx to the Trump administration’s Covid task force. Mowers served as her Chief of Staff at the State Department.

Dr. Birx has admitted in her recent book, Silent Invasion, that she hid information from President Trump and subverted his efforts to keep the economy open during the first year of the Covid pandemic:

“I devised a work-around for the governor’s reports I was then writing. Instead of including those recommendations in the common bulleted list, I’d include them in the pandemic summary and state-specific recommendations in the governor’s reports, where they wouldn’t be so obvious. These weekly reports couldn’t go out on Monday without administration approval. Week by week Marc’s office began providing line-by-line edits. After the heavily edited documents were returned to me, I’d reinsert what they had objected to, but place it in those different locations. I’d also reorder and restructure the bullet points so the most salient—the points the administration objected to most—no longer fell at the start of the bullet points. I shared these strategies with the three members of the data team also writing these reports. Our Saturday and Sunday report-writing routine soon became: write, submit, revise, hide, resubmit. Fortunately, this strategic sleight-of-hand worked. That they never seemed to catch this subterfuge left me to conclude that, either they read the finished reports too quickly or they neglected to do the word search that would have revealed the language to which they objected.”

And Mowers praised her efforts:

Can we trust him to represent us in Congress? He advertises himself as a staunch Trump Republican- yeah, just like Chris Christie.

Choosing a Dem Candidate for 2024 Is Like Deciding Which Side of the “SH!T Sandwich” You’d like to Bite First

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 21:00 +0000

In the Last Boy Scout, Joe Hallenbeck (Bruce Willis) catches his best friend, Mike Matthews (Bruce McGill), sleeping with his wife. They both go outside, and Hallenbeck says to Matthews, Head or Gut.

Matthews says gut, and Hollenbeck punches him hard.

New Hampshire Democrats are Mike Matthews. They have a field full of Donkeys, but nothing looks all that appealing. They’re just going to have to take the hit.

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) Survey Center Granite Poll found that 17 percent of likely 2024 Democratic primary voters in the state would choose Buttigieg among a list of Democrats, or those who caucus with Democrats, who are considered possible 2024 presidential contenders.

Biden received 16 percent support, followed by Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who each came in at 10 percent. A handful of other Democrats, in addition Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), received less than 10 percent.

Head or gut?

More like asking which side of the “sh!t sandwich” would you like to bite first? Turn it, flip it, look at it straight on or side-eye, and it’s still a sh!t sandwich. Speaking of which, The Hill and Politico are looking at the same UNH poll, but Politico is seeing something else.

President Joe Biden’s favorability ratings are at an all-time low among residents of the state that holds the nation’s first presidential primary, according to a poll released Tuesday by the University of New Hampshire. Only one-fifth of New Hampshire residents want Biden to seek a second term in 2024, according to the poll.

The president is statistically tied with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in 2024 presidential support, survey results show. He also trails a handful of potential 2024 candidates in favorability, including Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Cory Booker.

They are unwilling to say Mayor Pete ahead of Creepy Joe but are happy to point out how that Democrats have a much higher opinion of Marxists like Lizard Warren and Bernie Sanders. They will both admit the poll adds to the growing belief that “Bradon” is a political liability.

And what about Cory, ‘sex abuser‘ Booker? He’s the NH Dems Second choice after Mayor ‘Get Your Guns’ Pete. Just different sides of the same sh!t sandwich. But it’s one they want to stuff down our throats the same way they did with Biden.

Failing? Change the Rules

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 19:30 +0000

If you are doing nothing right and your ratings spiral downward, change the rules and the definitions, and then convince everything is great. The Biden administration is getting quite proficient at the name game, but, face it, their performance has required a lot of creative naming.

Remember transitory? That usually indicates a short span of time. But that was months ago, and since we have watched inflation grow as our 401k and checking accounts shrunk. Do you remember when a trip to the grocery store for eggs, milk, and bread didn’t cost $15? Well, there does not appear to be an end to the transitory inflation, and with Biden doing nothing to change direction, we will live with inflation as it morphs into recession.

A recession is when the economy performs so poorly that the GDP declines for two consecutive quarters. Well, that is the old school definition, but not the new Biden definition. Joe claims that we cannot be in a recession because unemployment is so low and the economy is recovering so quickly. But, we still don’t have as many people working as pre-COVID, and if the economy was growing so fast, why is the GDP down for six months? Joe, whoever these Nobel laureates who are advising you are, fire them today. They are as ignorant of the economy as you and Yellen.

Secure is a term used for something that is under control. But not for Secretary Mayorkas. He somehow continues to appear on Sunday shows claiming the Souther Border is secure. How can that be with nearly two million illegals entering our country via the Rio Grande since January 2021, and let’s not forget the 500,000 getaways? If that is secure, Alejandro, can you imagine an open border?

Fentanyl overdose. We are losing 100,000 Americans yearly to this deadly drug that originates in China and comes into America through Mexico. Every day there are stories of enough Fentanyl confiscated that would kill every person in America. But apparently, it is not severe enough yet for Joe. We are doing nothing to attack the source of this killer. And overdose? No, it’s poisoning, and in most cases, it is a young person thinking they are taking a legitimate pharmaceutical for the first time, and then their parents are planning a funeral.

We will leave no man behind was the creed that our military has lived by since our inception. That is until Joe Biden and his ridiculous unsuccessful exit from Afghanistan. Just tell the American people that everyone who wanted to leave was safely out of the Taliban controlled hell hole. But, you see, the government had no idea who or how many Americans were even in Afghanistan, so to say they were all out was just another lie from this administration. They claimed to be the most transparent administration in history, but they are really the most dishonest.

We don’t have to get into mask and vaccine mandates. We need not talk about Putin’s Gas Prices or formula shortages. We don’t need to discuss Detroit’s inability to produce cars because China has killed our chip supply. I think you have the idea. Bad messaging and bad policy is the legend the Biden Administration will stamp on history. The rest of us will spend years trying to recover from the Biden administration. But can 81 million people be wrong? They can when they are given selective information. Maybe we should give each of them a copy of Hunter Biden’s alleged hard drives. Please send a copy to the networks while you are at it. They still deny its existence!

It’s Not Just a Ch!nese Virus It May Also Be China’s Vaccine.

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 18:00 +0000

Over on Dr. Naomi Wolf’s substack, there is a spice titled Facing the Beast. It’s long, but if you wade deep enough, you’ll find something very interesting. Pfizer/BioNTech is not a “German Company.” It is a German-Chinese Company, and the Chinese Part leads all the way to the CCP.

BioNTech’s SEC filing shows that the MOU with Fosun Pharmaceuticals includes an equity investment by Fosun in BioNTech. In other words, the CCP is an equity investor in BioNTech: “As part of the strategic alliance with Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co., Ltd  … Fosun is not separate from the CCP; it is the CCP: Fosun acquired almost half of Sinopharm: “In 2003 Fosun Pharmaceutical acquired 49% stake of Sinopharm Group (Chinese: 国药控股).  … the majority owner of the joint venture was state-owned China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm).

Sinopharm,… of which Fosun owns almost half, is owned in turn directly by the Chinese State and thus reports directly to the CCP.

Fosun Pharma has since expanded into the US “with branches for R and D and product formulation in Boston, MA and Princeton, NJ: [https://fosunpharmausa.com/covid19/pcr/]

It is producing formulations and products in the US for distribution in the US and around the world.

What is it producing?

In January and March 2022, Fosun Pharmaceutical Industrial obtained the Medicines Patent Pool (MPP)’s license to produce and supply the generic version of Merck’s oral COVID-19 treatment Molnupiravir and Pfizer’s oral COVID-19 treatment Nirmatrelvir, as well as the co-packaged product of Nirmatrelvir and Ritonavir of Pfizer [….].

All the links and details are here – remember to dive deep, but to summarize, a CCP-controlled company (as if there were any other sort)  can and does make a PCR test, the (Pfizer/BioNTech) vaccine, and oral COVID treatments Molnupiravir (Merck) as well as Paxlovid (for Pfizer).

And this is to detect and treat a virus engineered in Wuhan and leaked into the world by the Chinese.

So this CCP-owned hybrid entity is here now and it is creating the diagnostic instruments that determine the scale of the pandemic in the West. The CCP can thus dial it up or down.

So take all of the above, and map it against the 150,000 plus adverse events in the Pfizer documents, the deadly harms to reproduction, the Western baby die-off, the babies in seizures; map it against the population drop, the rise in disabilities, map it against the rigid, cruel vaccine mandates aimed at Western defense forces (Canada’s, and Australia’s and all of Western Europe’s, as well as at the most powerful military in the world, that of the United States) — map it against the vaccine mandates aimed at our police, our health care workers, our firefighters, our pilots, our first responders, our kids, our babies — all this done by a White House captive, via Hunter Biden’s laptop, to the CCP. Add to all of this the evidence of birth rates declining, especially in the West, by 12-20 per cent.

And we know Biden is compromised or involved with China along with any number of Public health “experts,” bureaucrats, politicians, and corporations.

But hey -HEY! No more angry tweets!

Knowledgeworks: Another Dumbed Down Framework for our Public Schools

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 16:30 +0000

KnowledgeWorks provides states with a framework for personalized learning. Sounds good, doesn’t it? Until you peel back the layers.

Personalized learning sounds good on the surface. Your child will get personalized learning opportunities to cater to their personal needs. But what does that look like in the classroom? How can it be personalized if it’s all Common Core? Maybe they mean that children can learn at their own pace? How does that work in a classroom of 25 children?

What does this look like?

Gone are the days when the teacher stands in front of the class and teaches your children the academic content. In this article by Joanne Jacobs, titled It’s too noisy for kids to learn, she reports on what the average classroom looks like today. Keep in mind, these classes include children who struggle with paying attention.

Jacobs says:

It’s hard for students to focus on learning in noisy classrooms, writes Natalie Wexler in Forbes. The average elementary classroom is a hub of activity, distraction and noise. Teachers are told that students who are talking are learning.

I wouldn’t necessarily blame the teachers because much of this is dictated by others. What happens in the classroom is normally dictated to teachers from education reformers who sell this pedagogy like it’s the next best thing to happen to public ed.

Gone are the traditional classrooms where a classical curriculum focused on academics. Instead, students are left to discover knowledge.

As I reported before, children now have access to the internet, so reformers will tell you that teachers aren’t needed to teach the academic content. (See video below)  Instead schools will focus on raising up in public schools with attitudes, values, and beliefs dictated by the State.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is replacing academic learning:

KnowledgeWorks is there to make sure states facilitate this transformation in the classroom.

But what else does KnowledgeWorks say about public education?

There is a strong focus on Competency-Based Education.  CBE is the vehicle for Social and Emotional learning assessments.  SEL is the vehicle to change your child’s attitudes, beliefs, and values.  Public education isn’t about learning history, mathematics or Science, it’s about instilling political indoctrination in your children.
So what does KnowledgeWorks say about that?

In Scenario A: Education Liberation Commons Grow at the Speed of Trust :

In the decade following the 2020 Presidential election, growing disappointment in the lack of transformational movement in fighting climate change, labor automation, social injustice and anti-oppressive structures convinced many community organizers, families, educators and students to tackle issues directly rather than through the polls.

What does this have to do with learning how to add and subtract? This sounds like political action. As you read through their edu-babble, you can see that there is no emphasis on making sure children are literate in the core academic subjects. There is nothing about literacy or academic excellence. But yet, they have the framework for your schools!!

Their framework is focused on using Competency Based Education as a vehicle for SEL and CRT in the classroom. A traditional classroom focused on academics grades children objectively. Competency Based Ed. uses a subjective grading system which allows for subjective grading of attitudes and values. Then all of this data is collected on your children which becomes an even bigger problem. How will that data be used in the future? What if your child doesn’t exhibit the values the state has determined as acceptable?

KnowledgeWorks goes on to expose how they want to create a “liberation” education system of some sort to “promote critical consciousness and encourage social action.” That’s a new name for community organizing and pushing more political indoctrination on your children.

These people are selling snake oil to the communities instead of educating their children. Antifa will be thrilled to see this, but parents who aspire for their children to become doctors and lawyers will be disappointed. An education focused on activism will not prepare any of those marginalized children for the rigors of our top colleges and universities.  It will not prepare them for much of anything past high school graduation.

Here is more of their edu-babble below. Replace “promote critical consciousness” with political indoctrination. Replace “Encourage social action” with creating illiterate community organizers:

A local region’s education liberation commons is a cooperative web of community agencies, services, learning resources, tutors, community elders and volunteers. These contributors help build vibrant learning environments and experiences, promote critical consciousness and encourage social action among those who have for decades been underserved and marginalized by traditional educational institutions. Experts, mentors and learning guides come from the neighborhoods, regions and social networks that comprise the education liberation commons. These individuals know their learners deeply and vice versa. For example, the West Valley Rural Education and Liberation (REAL) Commons used its local and global 4-H network to create a dynamic liberatory education environment focused on climate justice and food security.

Then KnowledgeWorks demonizes traditional public education where the focus is on academics.  We can’t have these children learning about the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta, Periodic Table, Calculus or anything else that mirrors a classical education focused on knowledge. See for yourself:

Despite this residual authority, public education systems are passively coasting and maintaining the status quo. They continue to focus on academics using traditional, 20th-century curricular standards and pedagogies

Instead of promoting an improvement to the academic content that has been watered down over the years, they shift completely away from academics to pushing the Critical Race Theory agenda and SEL. It is Competency-Based Education that will be the vehicle for this kind of indoctrination. CBE is the old and failed Outcome Based Education model from the 90s.  The focus is on outcomes, but not academic outcomes. The outcomes they expect will be focused on the students learning CRT values.

While some schools have implemented project-based learning or personalized, competency-based learning, states and districts remain heavily divided on the extent to which curricula are culturally responsive and school cultures are anti-racist. Schools are more equitable than in the past, but they are not liberatory. Many states continue to dismiss acknowledgement of systemic racism as a political talking point. In other states, whitewashed versions of African-American history and “culturally relevant” pedagogies are taught. Many public schools are simply not willing to devote the time and energy to work through the discomfort and challenges of becoming anti-racist. In contrast, education liberation commons are inherently rooted in multiple ways of knowing, diverse forms of knowledge and culturally responsive curricula. They represent education in service to its communities.

Black, Indigenous and youth of color leaders, as well as LGBTQ+ and disabled youth, cultivate innovation in local education liberation commons and in the design of learning priorities and experiences. They help set social norms by modeling cross-cultural and racial literacies with peers and community members. For example, the West Valley REAL Commons Youth Hive designed a collaborative online forum to inform people about, and mobilize action on, issues shaping their futures, such as climate change and social justice.

Liberation Commons means that schools better get on board with this CRT agenda to be fully liberated. This is more about training ANTIFA members than it is about offering students of color the best academic education so that they can pursue anything in life if they just put effort into it.

Public education does need a boost in terms of literacy and academics, but this solution is no solution at all, unless you are a recruiting officer for ANTIFA. Their solution is to indoctrinate students into their political ideology. That doesn’t help our black and brown students, nor does it help any of the other students.

Those who can escape this dumbed-down system will find better private schools, or parents will home-school their children. The rest will fall through the cracks that these social justice warriors are creating.

True social justice comes from giving children the knowledge they need to pursue any vocation they choose in life. This framework is a path to illiteracy paved by social justice warriors.

We all need to make sure we let the Commissioner of Education, Frank Edelblut, and the State Board of Education members know that we do not want any part of this plan. We need better quality academic standards and tests that raise the bar in our schools.  That is true social justice. When all children receive a quality academic education, that’s what will open doors to success as long as they are willing to put in the effort.

Here is what KnowledgeWorks reported on New Hampshire.

I’m Phil Andrews, and I am Running for the New Hampshire House

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 15:00 +0000

I’m Phil Andrews, and I am running for the New Hampshire State House of Representatives in the new Hillsborough District 32. The updated district now includes Wilton, Temple, and New Ipswich.

I grew up in the woods of Maine and moved to NH shortly after finishing my college degree in upstate NY. I came here with my wife to enjoy the freedoms and way of life in the Live Free or Die state. After spending one year renting in Milford, NH, we have spent the last 12 years living in the beautiful town of New Ipswich.

During that time, my wife gave birth to our four daughters, who have been home-schooled and taught to enjoy and explore nature. Our girls have grown up working in our family businesses, and we have owned several local laundromats where they have learned to earn and manage money from a young age.

We want to thank Phil Andrews for this Op-Ed. Please direct yours to Editor@GraniteGrok.com.

Why Me?

Most politicians or aspiring politicians will talk about the laws they want to create, tell you about the projects they want to fund, how they wish to restrict the rights of some or give someone special treatment. I will tell you about the laws I would like to get rid of and the government agencies I want to restrain to protect its citizens.

So What Then?

I would like to guarantee the rights of parents to raise their children. That means restraining public education to actually educating. That means allowing parents the final say on medical decisions for their children and keeping parents informed of their children’s health discussions. At no point should a government agency know more about a child than their parents.

Currently, in NH, the creation of rules around legislation is delegated to the department responsible for enforcing that law. These rules are created by the agency on how a specific law will be enforced, then reviewed by a subset of the house and senate.

There are thousands and thousands of legal enforcement rules that are voted on by a mere five representatives and five senators. Out of our 400+ person legislature, these ten preside over how each agency chooses to enforce its laws. The appointment of this committee by the party leaders allows the deck to be stacked for the party in power.

I would like to see this process be brought under much closer supervision with over 100+ agencies with delegated authority this is a muddy area that has been abused time and again for political gain. These rules have the force of law and should require the full legislature to approve them before they go into effect.

We need to stop electing leaders who go to the state house with the ideals of stripping rights away from some target group. Whether those rights be social, fiscal, or natural, our elected officials should not be leading the charge to penalize but rather leading the charge to protect.

We have seen government agencies over the years grow larger, more powerful, and more resilient to challenges in court. This needs to be our goal, to ensure our people are protected from our government, whether local, state, or federal.

So, Can You Define It?

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 13:30 +0000

What is a woman? Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson knew but didn’t dare say, not exactly a good start for someone elevated to the highest court in the land where meaning is everything. So, what is a woman?

They are chromosomally distinct and, as Skip notes here, have “different bone structure, … muscle mass and types, … pulmonary and cardiac capabilities, internal and external organs, and even how [their] brain is wired is different” from men.

And Skip has a degree in biology, so he knows. Just ask Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson (who is not a biologist but differed to them) and became a meme before the end of her US Senate confirmation hearing.

Unlike that newly minted Justice, Skip is not afraid to defend a scientific fact in the face of an emotional cultural squall meant to anesthetize the population to the idea of a word-salad culture leaning toward compelled speech.

Letting the government tell you what you can and can’t say never ends well.

As Dr. Peterson noted on the subject in a clip I shared yesterday, “I’m not letting the cat have my tongue. …  And the idea of compelled speech is like, the (Canadian Law) was this much about gender, and this much about oh the government’s gonna tell me what to say.”

And yet they – the people “in charge” of this –  can’t say what a woman is, which seems important, especially if you are going to get into the business of using the law to tell people what they can and can’t say – based on a moving target.

It’s confusing on purpose. It creates a world where they can come and scoop you up on any given day because no one knows the law anymore. Not how to follow it or how to defend people with it or from it or its purveyors when it becomes malicious.

I wrote all that to share this. The whole weird and sometimes amusing mess boiled down to a kid, a judge, and a spelling bee.

Stupid Media – Accept Our Apologies For Being Wrong When It Doesn’t Matter

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-07-27 12:00 +0000

“This is the inter-elections decompression season, when the liberal media admits their past lies, now, when it doesn’t matter, in order to ‘prove’ their credibility for future lies, when it does matter.”

To wit: an apology from formerly conservative Wall Street Journalist Bret Stephens now at the NYT: I Was Wrong About Trump Voters    (paywalled, see here instead).  Alternate title:  Hey, maybe I shouldn’t have called Trump voters idiots and traitors.  Emphasis mine:

Telling voters they are moral ignoramuses is a bad way of getting them to change their minds. What were they seeing that I wasn’t?

That ought to have been the first question to ask myself. When I looked at Trump, I saw a bigoted blowhard making one ignorant argument after another. What Trump’s supporters saw was a candidate whose entire being was a proudly raised middle finger at a self-satisfied elite that had produced a failing status quo.

I was blind to this. Though I had spent the years of Barack Obama’s presidency denouncing his policies, my objections were more abstract than personal. I belonged to a social class that my friend Peggy Noonan called “the protected.” My family lived in a safe and pleasant neighborhood. Our kids went to an excellent public school. I was well paid, fully insured, insulated against life’s harsh edges.

Trump’s appeal, according to Noonan, was largely to people she called “the unprotected.” Their neighborhoods weren’t so safe and pleasant. Their schools weren’t so excellent. Their livelihoods weren’t so secure. Their experience of America was often one of cultural and economic decline, sometimes felt in the most personal of ways.

It was an experience compounded by the insult of being treated as losers and racists —clinging, in Obama’s notorious 2008 phrase, to “guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them.”

No wonder they were angry.

Well, gee willikers!  Ain’t that broad-minded of Stephens?  Now go back and read the Blogline of the Day (by Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit) and see if it fits. Or not – I’ll tell you it does.

And just like that, we see the time “honored” Progressive starting the “forgiveness” parade so as to reset the plate to demonize the NEXT Republican. It’s always the “HE’S HITLER!!” until the time of normalization is needed so as to use that Republican to then be used against the latest target.  You watch – if Trump isn’t the next President, but Ron DeSantis is, all will be forgiven (well, perhaps some) of Trump in order to hang and then quarter, then roast what’s left of DeSantis. And that latter activity NEVER ratchets downward – the media’s rhetoric only goes up and up.

A late mea culpa by one of the Elite who kinda realized that we of “Flyover Country” despise them, not for who they are but for how they treat the rest of us (and no, you don’t actually have to live in Flyover Country to feel put upon – there’s a lot of us in the East/West coastal areas that are kindred spirits except we get to see the sneers up close and personal (right, Gary Kiedaisch?  Chris Sununu!) every day.

I should be asking whether or not Stephens (and those like him who have this now gauzy feeling of having done wrong) has learned anything from the runup to this announcement.  I’m thinking no.  I’ve seen this happen again, but the lure of no longer being part of the “cool gang”; it’s like high school all over again, where status is everything, even if not earned or deserved.

Don’t worry, he’ll be safely back in the fold in about 3…2…1 months – just in time for the General Election.
