After Obama's cybersecurity order threatens Snowden fund, bitcoin donations spike

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 21:26 +0000

A new executive order signed into law this week by the president has one online community up in arms, after its loose wording effectively ruled out donating to Edward Snowden and others.

In a post on Reddit's Bitcoin subreddit, members pledged to donate to the whistleblower's relief fund, despite the wording of the new executive order suggesting that doing so was illegal.

Small but meaningful favor to ask DP community

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 20:07 +0000

Hi everybody-

Though it's been a little while since I've posted and the DPs days are (sadly but justly understood to be) numbered, I've become a Candidate for City Council here in Philadelphia, while also starting a new political Party.

Having also just created a new website, if you have a favorite song/poem/speech/story/image about conscientious freedom, individual triumph or divine love, I'd love to share it on the Campaign trail!

Israel applies to join China-backed AIIB investment bank

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 14:24 +0000

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signed a letter of application for Israel to join the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

More than 40 countries, including Australia, South Korea, Britain, France, Germany and Italy, have said they would sign up to the AIIB, with Japan and the United States the two notable absentees.

China set a March 31 deadline to become a founding member of the AIIB, an institution that could enhance Beijing's regional and global influence.

Why ‘The Nation’ Is Suing the Federal Government

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 13:55 +0000

The NSA is monitoring almost all of our international communications. This is a fundamental violation of First and Fourth Amendment rights.

The Editors | The Nation | March 31, 2015

One of the most disturbing revelations from whistleblower Edward Snowden is that the National Security Agency copies and searches the contents of virtually every text-based Internet communication that you send overseas or receive from abroad. This includes e-mails, instant messages, search-engine history and the websites you visit. The agency does so whether or not you or the person you’re communicating with has done anything wrong, and whether or not either party is a specific “target” of the NSA. Furthermore, if the agency believes your message contains information relating to the foreign affairs of the United States—in the NSA’s overly broad terms, “foreign intelligence information”—it may hold on to it indefinitely.

This massive, dragnet surveillance is a fundamental violation of the Fourth Amendment, which protects our right to privacy, and the First Amendment, which protects freedom of expression and association. The government is collecting these private communications without any individualized suspicion and without obtaining a warrant from a judicial authority. For these reasons, The Nation has joined the ACLU’s suit against the National Security Agency and the Department of Justice, filed this March in federal district court in Maryland, where the NSA is headquartered. Fellow plaintiffs include the Wikimedia Foundation, Human Rights Watch, PEN American Center, the Global Fund for Women and other civil society, legal and media organizations.

Chris Christie Pardons Single Mother Arrested For Concealed Carry Pistol in NJ

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 11:12 +0000

On a recent episode of the Lions of Liberty Podcast, I spoke with Brian Aitken, a man who was arrested for transporting his legally owned guns in New Jersey while moving residences. Due to a combination of unjust laws and overzealous, dishonest prosecutors and judges, Brian found himself sentenced to seven years in prison. However, he was free and able to come on my show, thanks to having his sentence commuted by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.

Everyone Is Being a Dick

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 03:46 +0000

The lawmakers of Indiana are dicks for passing a pointless law whose motivation is intolerance of gays and lesbians under the guise of religious liberty.

Businesses are being dicks for pulling out of Indiana and punishing the population, most of who had nothing to do with this law, because of the actions of an intolerant minority.

Gay rights activists are dicks when they go beyond equal rights and try to pass laws that violate freedom of association.

End of the Line for the Daily Paul. (I Love You, goodbye Part IV)

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 02:32 +0000

Soundtrack for this post

Well Daily Paul, this is it. It's like that Hemingway quote about how a man goes broke: "First gradually, then suddenly."

For the Daily Paul and its existence, the suddenly part is here.

I've been talking about this for a long time now, about archiving the Daily Paul, about moving on. I have been yapping about it for so long that some have backhandedly accused me of drama.

But now the time is here. It is the end of the line for the Daily Paul. Seven to ten days is what we've got.

Christian Asks Thirteen Gay Bakeries To Bake Him Pro-Traditional Marriage Cake, And Is Denied Service By All Of Them

Daily Paul - Fri, 2015-04-03 00:23 +0000

Say that "Bestiality Is Wrong" or "Polygamy Is Wrong" and it's not considered hate speech, but if you have the opinion that "Gay Marriage Is Wrong" the whole world jumps up and down screaming "racism" "bigotry" and "hatred".

This is becoming the politically-correct norm, but no matter what one argues, this is suppressing free speech.

"Senator Paul is out of pocket"

Rand Paul taking media time-out

By Jonathan Easley | The Hill

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is taking a break from the media to spend time with his family ahead of his likely White House announcement next week.

The Hill reached out to a representative at Paul’s leadership PAC to find out where the Kentucky Republican stands on the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which has created a firestorm in Indiana since a version was signed into law last week.

Senator Paul is out of pocket with family and not doing any media all week long,” the representative responded.

At the sunrise

Of the art of war

Ask yourselves
What is the purpose of your lives?

I walked the streets
Many towns
My eyes
Saw tears
People in chains

I'm ashamed to say
I was born on this planet

Next time you hear the words
Democracy and human rights
Google British opium wars

We are all slaves

Are conspiracy theorists really the sane ones?

Daily Paul - Thu, 2015-04-02 19:27 +0000

This is for you TwelveOhOne. :)

Are conspiracy theorists really the sane ones?
University study shows they are more well-grounded than others.

Those who operate without checks and balances – and without the disinfectant sunlight of public scrutiny and accountability – tend to act in their own best interests.

I tend to view conspiracy theorists as another form of checks and balances on our official, expert storytellers.
