Israel: Still More Links, Memes, and Commentary

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 17:30 +0000

This is an attempt to “break out” memes, links, and my commentary about the situation in Israel / the Middle East so as to not overload the standard meme posts that I do.  My last “normal” meme post.  In these Israel-related posts I don’t just have memes such, but lots of informative links as well as hopefully-insightful commentary.

I attempt to populate each post with new material; thus, older posts have information that’s not in this one.  If this is a topic of interest to you I strongly urge you to go back through and peruse my older ones.  I do not focus on minute-by-minute updates but rather attempt to provide background and information relevant to this latest battle in a 1,400 year old war.  Reverse chronological order.

Note – I regret the length here.  But there’s soooo much information.  Not the day-to-day, people can find that on their own.  But background, history, mentality, etc.?  Most people do not understand the deep history of Islam and its animosity towards Jews (and all non-Muslims).  And related to that, this is a very interesting post:

In Israel, the Mirage of Normalization – American Thinker

Among other things is this snippet.  But wait, isn’t 1965 before the Occupation?

“The destruction of Israel,” [Nassar] said on March 8, 1965, “will be destruction by force. We shall enter a Palestine covered not with sand, but drenched in blood.”  The spectacle Nasser dreamed of became a reality in southern Israel on October 7, 2023. It is still very popular among Muslim extremists to support the actions of the Nazis during the Shoah of European Jewry.

Similarly, when Israel tried to move Gazans out of their camps and into permanent homes in the 1970s, the PLO was against the plan – even though thousands of Gazans eagerly wanted to take advantage of it – and they got two UN resolutions against the voluntary resettlement of Gazans into decent housing. Palestinian misery was justified as being the best thing for Palestinians, with the decisions being made by people who live in mansions.

Even though Hamas has made its genocidal intentions clear from its founding, up until this month Israel treated the de facto rulers of Gaza with the assumption that they are also interested to some extent in their own wellbeing and that of those under its rule, and that Hamas could be managed by a combination of carrots and sticks – carrots in loosening up imports, exports, travel and work permits, sticks in the occasional limited military action that was meant to teach Hamas what it could lose if it shot rockets or engaged in terror. That was a fatal error. On October 7, Israel – and the world, if it was paying attention – learned that Hamas’ highest aspiration was to slaughter Israelis, even at the expense of its own people, whose lives had been steadily improving over the past couple of years by every metric.  Hamas showed that its genocidal charter was not lip service, but the actual core of its existence.

Understand something very clearly:

A Watershed Moment for Jews – American Thinker

We may now be experiencing a tectonic shift of major magnitude, namely the exodus of Jews from liberalism. The triggering event is the Hamas savagery on Oct 7th in Israel and, of equal importance, the support of many Americans for this barbarism. These two events are a double wakeup call for many American Jews — who could imagine anybody celebrating the beheading of babies, nor thousands of Americans, often at elite universities, denouncing Israel as an apartheid, genocidal colonial regime?

A CONCLUDING THOUGHT FOR THIS POST

On several groups in Telegram I keep seeing people saying “We just need peeeeeace and loooooove and unterstaaaaanding“.  And IF ONLY people could move past their religion and hatreds to see that we’re one big TEAM HUMANITY family.

And yes, that’d be nice.

How many Gazans support terror attacks on Israeli civilians? | World Israel News

Sixty-seven percent of Gazans said they backed armed attacks on Israeli civilians, compared to just 33% who said they oppose such attacks.

In Judea and Samaria, 54% of Palestinians support armed attacks on Israeli civilians, while 41% oppose them.

So, just whose hand are you going to hold when majorities, if not supermajorities, of the people you want to make peace with want you dead and your nation destroyed?  When Muslims have hated and oppressed and murdered Jews for centuries.  You seriously have the hubris to think this will change because your enlightened selves are now in the mix?  Here are the deeds of your “peace partners”:

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf

Attributed to George Orwell

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.”

John Stuart Mill

In closing, would real peace be wonderful?  Absolutely.  And in some Arab commentators I do see that it’s possible (I have a few videos that I’ll fold into the next one highlighting this – assuming they upload).  But until that mindset takes real & broad root, until the Arabs love their children more than they hate Jews (and everyone else), until Islam’s aggressive doctrine can be undermined… turning the other cheek will only result in two bruised cheeks.  Just look at – I think – my last post: Arabs from Gaza were in Israeli villages, talked with families, did work for far higher pay than they could get in Arab cities/towns, accepted food, shared stories.  And they scouted and collected intelligence and participated in the slaughter.

Peace only works when both sides want it.  In other words:

Sic pacem, para bellum.

And since, as I’ve extensively documented and commented upon, their end goal killing Jews (and everyone else) with paradise being their reward if they fall participating in that killing, then I greatly fear this becomes the only option.

Say Goodbye to Trans-Fats, America!

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 16:00 +0000

If you want to eat something that is between you, the food, your family, and God. Not my business. I’m not one to crusade against your right to make choices as an adult. I might disagree and poke fun, but if you do not force me to embrace your choices, I will reciprocate, except for trans-fats.

Nasty stuff, those hydrogenated oils. I have never recommended them and counsel on reducing your intake. You don’t have to listen to me, a right I’ll protect, but those things are nasty. They are so nasty that the FDA has effectively banned them from grocery store shelves, effective Dec 22, 2023, and I am no fan of the FDA.

It started in 2015 when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ruled that artificial trans fats were unsafe to eat. The agency gave the food industry three years to reformulate products and ensure an orderly transition in the marketplace.

The final compliance date for specifically removing PHOs, which contain trans fats but also occur naturally in some meats, was Jan. 1, 2021.

In August 2023, the agency issued a direct final rule, making the decision permanent and enforceable. (A direct final rule process, intended for noncontroversial rules, allows an agency to issue a rule without the need for a double review process.)

Starting Dec. 22, 2023, no products containing PHOs will be allowed on grocery store shelves.

Partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs) have been linked to heart disease, cancer, insulin resistance, and inflammation. After my heart attack, I effectively zeroed them out of my diet. Not absolute zero, but the change helped me lose a few extra pounds. Too many, actually, I had to adjust to put on a healthy weight. I can’t say much about whether it has helped, but I’m still here. I feel good, and dropping the PHOs hasn’t been any sort of hardship, be it food choice, flavor, texture, or affordability.

The latter is a bit harder to measure while we endure the inflationary strains of Democrat rule. A fat we could also stand to do without.

So, trans fats are going the way of fake fats, another food experiment that resulted in more harm than good. But that’s the FDA for you, approving things that end up being bad for us. Did anyone follow the money on fake fat? I’m sure someone left a trail.

And I wonder how many years we’ll have to wait before they decide that mRNA pharmaceuticals are dangerous to human health, quality of life, and life itself.

Any guesses?

Pulpit Polity – George Washington, Faith, and God

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 14:30 +0000

This week, I want to examine the place of prayer in perhaps the most influential American ever, George Washington. His name and character have been revered not only in America but throughout the world. Washington was perhaps the most unique political leader we have ever had in our nation.

His tenacity to persevere against all reasonable odds is epic! But where did he find such courage? Where did his resolve to win come from? How could he accomplish the many miracles that seemed to surround him in battle? How could he have the humility to not seek a third term of office as President when he so clearly was the people’s choice?

Well, as with all of our founding fathers, the letters are stories of their lives, and those letters and recordings of their actions by the people of the day reveal just what they believed, particularly about the role they were playing in Nation building and how they viewed God’s place in that process.

We have a famous painting of General George Washington kneeling in the snow at Valley Forge. Here, he faced sure defeat as his rag-tag army was abandoning the great cause of freedom, and those who were staying were starving and poorly clad for the frigid winter. Let’s look at the background of how he arrived to lead this rag-tag army.

The Second Continental Congress met on May 10, 1775, and asked George Washington to become their commander-in-chief. He was charged with basically building a group of farmers into a military force that would take on the greatest Empire of the world at that time, Great Britain. Washington knew that he needed to instill in the hearts of his men a deep conviction that what they were doing was for God and that they were under God’s protection. This is what he himself believed about what he was doing, building a new and free nation, because he was directed by faith in God, and he believed that God was and would protect him. There are several stories of his miraculous escape from direct bullet fire in the midst of battle.

So, General Washington issued an order that each day was to begin with prayer led by the officers of each unit. He also ordered that, unless their duties required them to be elsewhere, every soldier was to observe “ a punctual attendance of Divine services, to implore the blessing of heaven upon the means used for our safety and public defense.”

He also forbade all profanity and promised swift punishment for any who uttered oaths that would offend God or man. Can you imagine a leader on any level or office today forbidding swearing and profanity? Profanity has become the very fabric of our culture. On a side note, I was once told that the more vulgar you speak is a sign of your high I.Q.

Oh, well, let’s move on…Washington continually sought to instill in his troops faith and reverence toward God. Going back to the story of Valley Forge, during the difficult part of the war for independence, Rev. Henry Muhlenberg was able to observe Washington’s conduct from his nearby Lutheran Church. He wrote, Washington rode around among his army yesterday and admonished each one to fear God.

Issac Potts a Quaker who lived near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. When the Continental Army, led by Washington, was quartered there. The times were difficult on every level for Washington and his men. Potts was opposed to the war until, one day, he had a life-changing experience while riding in the woods near the army camp. He said, “I heard a plaintive sound as of a man at prayer. I tied my horse to a sapling and went quietly into the woods, and to my astonishment, I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was ye Crisis and cause of the country, of humanity, and of the world. Such a prayer I never heard from the lips of man. I left him alone, praying. I went home and told my wife I saw a sight and heard today what I had never saw or heard before, and just related to her what I had seen and heard and observed. We never thought a man could be a solider and a Christian, but if there is one in the world, it is Washington.”

Finally, having completed his call to serve in the birthing of the nation, Washington issued his letter of resignation as Commander-in-Chief to the Continental Congress, whereupon he wrote what I would call a pastoral letter, dated June 14th, 1783, to the governors of the various states. This letter reveals again his commitment to “earnest prayer.”

One section of the letter reads, “ I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection; that he would incline the hearts of the citizens…to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another…and to demean ourselves with charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without humble imitation of His example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation.”

In conclusion, there are many written records of Washington beseeching heaven for help and looking to God for direction and protection.

Until Next Week…

Allen

Did Biden Send the FBI “After” NYC Mayor Eric Adams For Bitching Too Much About the ‘Migrant Crisis™’

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 13:00 +0000

The FBI recently showed up at the home of Brianna Suggs. She’s an associate of New York City Mayor Eric Adams. She’s also a fundraiser for a mayor who has been increasingly critical of the “migrant” situation and the impact it is having on his sanctuary city.

The FBI is “investigating whether New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s 2021 campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign donations.”

Investigators are looking into the potential involvement of a Brooklyn construction company with connections to Turkey and a small Washington, D.C.-based university that has ties to both Turkey and the New York City mayor, according to a search warrant obtained by the Times. The investigation is also focused on discerning whether Adams’s campaign kicked back benefits to the construction company’s officials and employees, and to Turkish officials.

Adams was on his way to The Capitol to discuss the “M-M-M-Migrant Crisis” but, upon hearing of the raid, bailed on that trip and returned to the Big Crapple.

Anyone and everyone is insisting that the Mayor is not the target “nor if he accused of wrongdoing,” but it appears clear to me that someone is sending a message.

First, under tyrants and despots, even those posing as elected officials, you are assumed guilty of something or will be as needed. No one is innocent. The odds of being implicated turn on any number of points, including value to the regime (current or potential) and optics. Targeting “associates” is a convenient way of establishing that you can and will go after them and that those targeted could be offered the opportunity to rat you out for anything that can be imagined.

Lie for them, and they promise not to charge you with perjury, and even if it doesn’t go well, you could get a book deal.

Adams is not new to the game, so he must know this, but all he was after, as far as I can tell, was a shot at being Ukraine. How about a bailout? A few billion or whatever the presses can print while I’m in town. Please put it on a pallet. Stick it on a C130. Drop it off at Laguardia in the middle of the night. I’ll have someone there to collect it. And that will buy my silence for a few months. We’ll find a way to make it work. Please send me your uneducated and disease-infested, your terrorists, your drug cartel and gang members yearning to ruin America.

And this is New York. As with most Democrat-run urban plantations, it operates like a banana republic. If the UN brings aid, anyone who is anyone gets a piece, and if there’s any leftover, create a few photo-ops to reinforce the false hope. Adams needs to line some pockets, too. Elections don’t win themselves. So, the money, any money, will generate plenty of aid but not for the wretched huddled masses knocking on his door.

He’ll have to beg for more.

And that works, at least until or unless the FBI shows up to raid another supporter. Or maybe a bit closer to home.

It’s just a theory, but it’s only the first seal of the potential Adams Apocolypse. If the FBI shows up again with a CNN crew, he’ll know he’s in trouble.

Don’t Fall for Biden’s Latest Talking Point

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 11:30 +0000

As the long-hyped Ukrainian counteroffensive against Russia stalls and a new war in Gaza draws the world’s attention, American support for funding Kyiv’s war has waned. In an effort to reverse this, the Biden administration is changing its messaging.

A Politico report from last week details how White House aides are now telling members of Congress to sell Americans the lie that continuing to send money and weapons to Ukraine is good for the economy.

President Joe Biden made this point himself when he introduced a $105 billion proposal to send military aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan:

We send Ukraine equipment sitting in our stockpiles. And when we use the money allocated by Congress, we use it to replenish our own stores, our own stockpiles, with new equipment. Equipment that defends America and is made in America. Patriot missiles for air defense batteries, made in Arizona. Artillery shells manufactured in 12 states across the country, in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas. And so much more.

With this new talking point, the Biden administration is echoing Senator Mitch McConnell, who has for months been saying that the war in Ukraine is an excellent deal because American companies get paid, the Russian regime is weakened, and only Ukrainians have to die.

Setting aside the morality or practicality of Biden and McConnell’s foreign policy ambitions, the argument that all this military spending is good for the American economy relies on one of the oldest, most pervasive economic fallacies in our political discourse—the broken window fallacy.

First outlined by French economist Frédéric Bastiat in his essay “That Which Is Seen and That Which Is Not Seen” and later expounded upon by economic journalist Henry Hazlitt in his book Economics in One Lesson, the broken window fallacy is the false belief that spending money on restoring things that have been destroyed can make an economy richer.

To make this point, Bastiat used the example of a broken shop window. After his careless son breaks a pane of glass, a shopkeeper is forced to hire a glazier to repair the damage. A group of bystanders reflect on the situation and question their impulse to condemn the boy. After all, they ask, “What would become of the glaziers if panes of glass were never broken?”

In Hazlitt’s telling, the bystanders point to all the economic activity that will come from the shopkeeper’s purchase of a new $50 windowpane. “The glazier will have $50 more to spend with other merchants, and these in turn will have $50 more to spend with still other merchants, and so ad infinitum.” That leads the crowd to the fallacious conclusion that because of all the resulting economic activity that his breaking of the window incited, the shopkeeper’s son should be considered a public benefactor.

The problem with this thinking, Bastiat and Hazlitt explain, is that it cites only the economic activity that can be seen to result from the broken window. What goes unseen is the cost—all the economic activity the shopkeeper would have instead spurred had he not been forced to buy a new window.

And because the shopkeeper would have preferred to spend the $50 elsewhere, the breaking of the window can only be considered a net loss. The glazier benefits from the shopkeeper’s loss, but the shopkeeper and therefore, the overall economy are made poorer.

How does this relate to the Biden-McConnell talking point? After all, isn’t the destruction happening far away in Ukraine and Gaza?

It’s important not to get distracted by the act of destruction in Bastiat’s parable. The central element of his argument is not the broken window alone but the fact that the shopkeeper is forced to pay for a new one.

When the American people are forced to pay for weapons and equipment to replace those sent to Ukraine, they lose out on all the economic activity that they would have preferred to partake in, just like the shopkeeper.

And although, like the glazier, the five prime defense contractors benefit from the influx of tax dollars, the American people as a whole can only be made worse off. There is no growth, only a forced transfer of wealth to the weapons companies.

We have so far been forced to pay for over $44 billion worth of weaponry for Ukraine and $3.3 billion per year in military aid to Israel. Now, another $60 billion for Ukraine and $10 billion for Israel have been proposed. This spending would increase the burden that has already been forced on the American people. If Biden, McConnell, and their supporters think Americans have an obligation to shoulder that cost, they should at least have the decency not to pretend it’s making us more prosperous.

Night Cap: Late Edition – Don’t Forget to Get Back that Hour of Sleep You Lost in March

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 03:00 +0000

It is a tradition that we complain about the biannual celebration of altering time. Not time itself as in spacetime, but where the hands land on the clock and how that drives everything else about our lives.

And a quick reminder, in case you forgot. It’s only been a year. Last year, CNN used turning the clocks back to remind us about racism. I used CNN’s mule to remind everyone that the things CNN was bitching about were all the result of Democrat urban plantations and that they might want to check their privilege.

Be that as it may, every March, the time Nazis rob us of an hour of sleep and hold it hostage until November. We get it back, but we have to give up our afternoons. It gets dark not long after lunch and for most before they get home from work. I’m not saying I don’t like a leafblower with headlights, and I used to own a riding mower with them, but the yardwork suffers, and – after a fashion, so does sleep.

The first few Saturdays after we fall back, the hum of leaf blowers alights the morning air earlier and earlier. Absent a monolithic and nearly tyrannical association that controls quiet hours in a gated community, odds are good your weekend alarm clock sounds like a gas-powered engine pushing air at several hundred cubic feet per minute.

I happen to be a fan of white noise, so that version is unlikely to get past the fan that’s always running in my room. I get to wait until the morning coffee and the early hour blogging to be serenaded by Husqvarna’s Fuge in D-minor.

Happily, I’ve had an extra hour of sleep, which is good for a day or two at best (and the dog knows nothing of this thing we call time), before I return to my regular scheduled lack of sleep and a burning desire to take their hint and join the chorus.

Pushing a few leaves of my own into large, if not entirely neat, little piles, I can rake onto tarps and drag off into the woods like a mule before it snows.

If you don’t, when the time comes to turn the clocks ahead, your yard will be a matted, impossible blanket of deciduous debris that is nothing if not unfriendly to whatever tool you’ve got in mind to move it.

Not to worry, it’s not racism, but if it bothers you enough, blame the Germans. Moving the clocks around was their idea.

“My Body, My Choice” is Not an Excuse to be a Slutty Woman”

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 01:30 +0000

Ex-NBA player Joe Smith found out his wife of five years, Kisha Chavis, has an OnlyFans page. In a clip Chavis uploaded, Smith tells her how upset he is that she didn’t tell him about her porn account, adding that she should have talked with him before selling her body.

“Just finding out you got an OnlyFans page — all these years,” Smith says. “That’s bullshit,” he continued. “That’s fucked up, Kish. I’m telling you, that’s fucked up.”

Chavis gets mad that her husband doesn’t like her porn account and defends her OnlyFans page claiming Smith didn’t need to be consulted because she wasn’t filming with other people. She then started screaming, “My body, my f**king choice,” as her husband followed her up the stairs. Smith was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft, and yet you wouldn’t know it because he’s begging his wife not to be her own online pimp.

Although Chavis is a former porn star by the name of Yasmine Pendavis, she apparently promised Smith she’d quit that part of her life while they were together. She claims that their financial situation forced her to go back to selling herself. (ROOKE: Trad-ish W/ Mary Rooke Ep. 4 — Celebrity Couples, Britney Spears, And The Fall Of Christendom)

“You knew who the fuck I was when you met me,” Chavis said. “I thought I would never have to go back to anything like this again. But, unfortunately, that’s not the case right now.” Smith knew from the beginning Chavis was a succubus looking for financial stability. Surely, he could have seen this betrayal coming.

She’s apparently been running her porn page for years without Smith knowing. Women like Chavis don’t respect their husbands, likely because they’ve never given them a reason to. It’s unbelievable that it has to be said that women do not control their sexuality. Their husbands do. And women should be thankful their husbands do. We have someone whose sole purpose in life is to protect every part of us, including our sexuality. A strong husband will make even a poor woman understand that her sex is worth more than a $7-a-month subscription fee.

“My body, my choice” is not an excuse to be a slutty woman — and neither is being poor. The point of marriage is not financial stability, instant gratification, or even a happy life. Those are never promised, no matter what path you take. Staying single your whole life can often be more miserable than any married person’s existence.

However, marriage does guarantee you a partner to get through the ups and downs of life. Your happiness comes with building purpose with one another and working toward a goal that protects your family for generations. Our society is so lost that we’ve forgotten the basic tenets of marriage.

Married women absolutely cannot have an OnlyFans account. If she does, her husband has every right to tell her to stop and demand her modesty. Sexuality is so crucial in a marriage that opening it up to other people damages it beyond repair. (ROOKE: Men Have To Decide If Women Are Worth The Fight)

Just because Chavis wasn’t having sex with five guys like Adam22’s wife, Lena the Plug, doesn’t mean that what she was doing is any less harmful. Her sex is meant to bind her and her husband together. She produces life not just out of her womb but with her very presence. When a woman gives her husband honorable love through loyalty and passion, he feels secure enough to slay her dragons.

Women like Chavis sneer at their responsibility of protecting their marital sex because selfishness will always reign supreme in our modern society. They believe it’s fine to bang a billion guys because they cannot fathom the safety that resides in a passionate marriage.

Will Biden Pardon Convicted Felon Sam Bankman-Fried?

Granite Grok - Sun, 2023-11-05 00:00 +0000

Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has been convicted of multiple felony counts and faces up to 110 years in prison after the collapse of FTX exposed, among other things, massive amounts of wire fraud. But Bankman-Fried was what you’d call a Democrat megadonor.

Bankman-Fried, whose crimes cost victims $10 billion, will go down as one of the biggest fraudsters in history after his company stole their money and used it to fund his lavish lifestyle and political donations.

SBF dropped an estimated 40 million on Democrats, one of whom was our own Maggie Hassan. She received 20,000.00 from FTX funds, according to Market Watch. So, the question in the title remains. While Bankman-Fried can no longer manipulate “currency” to funnel funds to Democrat campaigns, he did them a solid. Does that earn you a pardon from the stumbler-in-chief? Will someone in the Biden administration slide a piece of paper in front of the Big Guy to keep the former FTX CEO out of the Big House?

Or should Sam start wondering how they plan for him to commit suicide? Does he know things that might make for an insider’s tell-all book about Democrat (or Republican) dark money?

They took Jeffy, Epstein, out in two shakes of a genetically modified lamb’s tail. Bankman-Fried has to have considered what prison could mean to him, given the influence he peddled.

Or, maybe he’s nobody now, and the Left is happy to leave him to the system. He can start a Ponzi scheme from behind bars and hope it helps him accumulate influence before someone shives him in the cafeteria line.

Hip-Hop’s Charleston White: We Need Donald Trump Back

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 22:30 +0000

Charleston White, a prominent figure in the hip-hop world with many followers, expressed his unwavering backing for Donald Trump in an interview around October 12, 2023. The surprise of White’s endorsement stems from his well-documented controversial and offensive behavior, which has raised eyebrows and sparked debates over the years.

Despite this, he has managed to maintain his influence and relevance in the hip-hop community, which makes his support for Trump all the more intriguing. What sets White’s endorsement apart is its alignment with a broader trend – a growing wave of Republicans rallying behind Trump as he contemplates a potential return to the White House. This phenomenon has rekindled discussions about the motivations behind White’s alliance with the former President and its significance in the larger political landscape, leaving observers and fans alike curious.

Charleston White’s recent declaration, “I’m a diehard Trump supporter. In my household, we have Martin Luther King, Jesus, and Donald Trump,” in the YouTube video titled “DEVASTATING! | Charleston White SHOCKS Black Liberal PROVING Trump Case Won’t Land Him in Jail,” uploaded on October 12, 2023, reveals the underpinnings of his support for former President Donald Trump.

This statement and its accompanying rationale, “I paid attention in school,” have provoked considerable curiosity and discussion, comparing the values and beliefs typically associated with figures such as Martin Luther King and Jesus with those of Trump.

However, the enigma surrounding Charleston White’s staunch support for Trump unravels with his explanation, “I paid attention in school.” This seemingly simple statement points to a deeper, more complex motivation that underscores the significance of education and critical thinking in shaping political beliefs and opinions. White’s endorsement, then, serves as a striking reminder that various factors can influence the dynamics of political allegiance and that a thorough and discerning education can lead individuals to support political figures who may outwardly appear contradictory to their beliefs.

The video has doubtless attracted attention, with viewers and commentators discussing White’s arguments and their implications for the broader political landscape. White’s endorsement has caused a stir within the hip-hop community, which traditionally leans more toward liberal politics. His endorsement might have been surprising to many, leading to discussions about political affiliations, personal beliefs, and the influence of rap music on politics. The endorsement could also potentially influence the views of his fans or followers, leading to further debate and discussion within that particular culture and community.

“Historian” has a “Bee in her Bonnet” over the phrase “Bun in the Oven”

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 21:00 +0000

From the taking the fun out of everything file, some feminist expert has taken umbrage over the phrase “bun in the oven.” Not an actual bun in an oven but a baby (the bun) in a woman’s womb (the oven). She claims the term “reduces the role of the mother to a mere incubator.”

It’s a kind of cutesy little way of saying that someone is pregnant to say they have “a bun in the oven.” That metaphor is really old – it first appears in texts by Hippocrates about 2,000 years ago to describe the process of gestation.

But if you think about that, if you’ve baked bread, the real work of baking bread goes on before you put it in the oven – the proofing the yeast and kneading the dough. That work takes time, it takes skill, it takes effort. Once you put the dough in the oven, all you’re doing is waiting.

So why do we use that metaphor to describe pregnancy? That suggests that the active work has been done, presumably by the man, and then the uterus is just like this incubator that’s growing this thing that was already made. I don’t think most people who use that metaphor are being misogynistic. But I think it actually does come from a deeply misogynistic tradition of thinking about women’s bodies as passive.

Kathleen Crowther is – or at least claims to be – a historian of reproductive medicine with an eye toward making sure we all know who is doing the baby-making work. I’m sure it’s a fascinating area of study, working out how the ancients perceived the roles of conception and gestation, so much so that Crowther wrote a blog about it. But I’m not sure for whom she wrote the book. If you read the NPR interview, there’s a sense that a majority of humanity clings to ancient ideas about life that are male-centric, but I doubt I could find anyone who agrees.

Men have been reduced to the status of sperm donors. The wars on parenting and marriage have escalated the number of single moms and one-parent households with devastating effects on children, learning, and culture. Girl power won, so how the ancient perception of pregnancy – while fascinating – relates to a modern culture of baby mamas, many of whom won’t be able to read what Crowther wrote – seems like a pander to guilty white liberal women.

A coffee table book from which you could quote meaningless but interesting tidbits about the idiom “a Bun in the Oven.”

Perhaps her next book will be on how, historically, while men play very little part, society continues to insist they pay for everything for close to twenty years while refusing to let them have any part in the child’s life.

Where Talking Llamas Teach Kids the “F” Word

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 19:30 +0000

In September 2021, the voters in the district for Windham Elementary School narrowly voted to close the school, which only has a little more than a dozen students, allowing those students to instead participate in Vermont’s “tuitoining” school choice system.

Families in districts without a public school are allowed to send their children to any approved independent or public school of their choice. It’s a great system. Parents love it. Not only do kids get to find the right school that fits their educational and social needs, but it saves taxpayers, on average, over $5000 a year per kid.

Of course, the government-run public school special interests and their allies in state and local government hate it. Freedom… effective… efficient…. What’s not to hate?

So, following a petition drive and re-vote — one tainted by voter fraud efforts led by former Democrat Majority Leader (now retired) Hon. Carolyn Partridge in which the State Representative appears to have misled and induced ineligible non-residents to vote — Windham Elementary remained open, and the kids trapped in its zip code net were once again forced to attend the tiny school—at least those who could not afford to buy their way out by paying private tuition.

A lawsuit followed in which the parents of roughly half the student body (seven kids) sued for the right to tuition their children to someplace else that would provide a better education than what the assigned school was offering (not, apparently, a high bar as we shall see) because, according to the complaint, “their children are not receiving a substantially equal educational opportunity compared to students in towns which pay tuition for their residents.” Under Vermont law, all kids have a “right to equal educational opportunity.”

The lawsuit failed when Superior Court Judge Michael Kainen ruled that the “Plaintiffs were not likely to win on the merits because they could not demonstrate that their children did not receive substantially equal educational opportunity.” Back in the hole, kiddies!

But here’s what the “educational opportunity” that those kids are receiving consists of…

Jenna Cramer, the teacher/principal of Windham Elementary, was apparently putting the kids in front of a TV during the school day to watch age-inappropriate content, including PG-13 movies and a music video played for kindergarten through second graders in which a man drinks and drives and smokes while transporting a woman who is tied up in the back seat of his car. Later in the video, a person’s head is blown off by a shotgun.

Another video featured a llama saying the “F” word, which is admittedly kind of hilarious but of dubious educational value for students of elementary school age.

None of the three staff members at the school — the principal, the teacher, and the administrative assistant –are licensed/qualified to teach students at the levels they are doing so, and, according to allegations reported in the Brattleboro Reformer, “no curriculum has been implemented, because, according to the teachers, they have not been provided sufficient supplies.” On top of all that, as of November 1, the principal, Cramer, has been fired. While this seems right and just, it does leave the school with only one unqualified teacher and an admin – perhaps with no supplies or curriculum – “educating” this group of children.

It’s hard to say which conclusion is more concerning about Judge Kainen’s ruling: that he looked upon this situation and, with his infinite wisdom, did not see the “irreparable harm” being done to these boys and girls or that he looked at this situation and didn’t find it to be “substantially unequal” to the educational opportunities experienced by other children in other public schools.

Maybe he’s right. These kids were exposed to an F-bomb-dropping llama, which is a helluva lot more preferable to being isolated and restrained in a locked, padded closet covered in your own excrement for hours on end like the students in Fair Haven. (See: Why is the Vermont Media Ignoring the Curt Hier vs. Slate Valley School Board Story?) You can’t read, kid (See: Why Can’t Vermont Kids Read? Left Wing Ideology Trumped Evidence), but maybe you can count your blessings.

The question for Vermont voters is, are we really going to go along with the Vermont Teachers’ Union et al.’s plans to reward itself for manufacturing our dysfunctional public school system with hundreds of millions of dollars on top of the $2 billion-plus we already give them, and entrust them with more and younger children who will be in too many cases, with all due respect to the judge, irreparably harmed by this widespread incompetence and abuse?

The True True Cause Of Failed Education In New Hampshire

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 18:00 +0000

So I just read (11/4 – 10 am-ish) this post titled The True Cause of Failed Education in New Hampshire which argues that the “true cause” is the Chairman of the House Education Committee. Apparently, the Speaker has NO IDEA that Rick Ladd is a RINO … which I thought was COMMON KNOWLEDGE … and that Ladd routinely sides with the Democrats … which I also thought was COMMON KNOWLEDGE

GIVE ME A BREAK. Packard knows exactly what Ladd is and what Ladd is doing, AND Packard is NOT going to give a damn about how many readers of Granite Grok contact him to complain about Ladd. Packard, and his leadership team, are the problem. They are simply mini-me versions of Kevin McCarthy, John Boehner and Paul Ryan.

If the author wants to do something about it, then he needs to do what Matt Gaetz did. He needs to get rid of Packard and his ilk and replace them with real Republicans.

If You Do All These Things, It Will Be I Who Thanks You for Your Service

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 16:30 +0000

As a marine veteran, with a Johnny Unitus haircut, when people thank me for my service, I usually reply, “It’s the least I could do for a Country that afforded my father and grandfather the opportunity to succeed and flourish. ”

Now that I’m a father and grandfather, I worry about their opportunities to do the same.

I have to admit it does sting when someone says the country has gone down the sh!tter or they are ashamed of her. My reply is, “It’s not the country. It’s the political parties, politicians, local officials, and complacent people that let it get that way.”

That being said, if you want to thank a veteran, the best way is to fight for your country, arm yourself with The Constitution, and Bill of Rights. Hold elected officials accountable for their actions, exercise your civic duty, and “vote the bastards out.”

If you do all these things, it will be I who thanks you for your service. God bless you.

White Women Hit Hardest as Infant Mortality Rises for the First Time in Two Decades

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 15:00 +0000

Last March, I suggested that Planned Parenthood sue Pfizer for infringing on its monopoly. Killing children is big business, but the CDC and FDA had stepped in with their miscarriage vaccine.

In January 2022, one report suggested a 279% increase in miscarriages. This past week Dr. Simone Gold from America’s Frontline Doctors tweeter the number 4070%. That’s increased miscarriages. I have no idea where she got the figure, but any number over none is tragic and bad for Planned Parenthood.

That alleged vaccine is cutting into their business. Unexpected pregnancy? Get a COIVD booster. And make sure they mark your passport. After five of those things, if you are still alive, you can get the sixth for free. That’s a joke. They are all free. Just ask the Federal Government. Ka-billions spent on doses almost no one wants anymore, but has DHS considered picking up the blood red phone to call Planned Parenthood?

Sorry, we encroached on your territory. Here’s some Ukraine Money.

It wasn’t just miscarriages. Infant mortality rose post-Jab-a-palooza for the first time in over two decades.

ABC News explains how unusual these increases in infant mortality are, as this has not happened for twenty years prior:

Although rates have been declining over the last several years, this marks the first year-to-year increase in more than two decades when the rate rose from 6.8 deaths per 1,000 in 2001 to 7.0 deaths in 2002.

Both infant mortality (deaths of children less than a year old) and neonatal mortality (deaths of infants under one month old) have increased.

The neonatal mortality rate — infant deaths at less than 28 days of life — also rose 3% from 3.49 per 1,000 live births in 2021 to 3.58 in 2022 and the postneonatal mortality rate — infant deaths between 28 and 364 days of life — grew 4% from 1.95 per 1,000 to 2.02 over the same period.

Babies didn’t need The Jab and Pfizer, Moderna, and the FDA knew it wasn’t safe for pregnant moms. The Pfizer docs proved that. So, the only sensible explanation for promoting it was to kill kids. And it worked. Better than they could have hoped. White women lost more babies than any other demographic (minorities were conspicuously untrusting of the government’s insistence they line up for the treatment).

What could be better to guilty libs than fewer white people in the world?

For American Indian/Alaskan Native women, the rate increased from 7.46 infant deaths per 1,000 to 9.06 deaths in 2022. For white women, the rate rose from 4.36 per 1,000 to 9.06.

Infant mortality equity.

The next question we should ask the progressives is, where’s the mission accomplished banner?

The Key to Peace In the Middle East Rests With The Iranian People

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 13:30 +0000

As protests in Iran persist, demanding greater freedom and a transition to democracy, the United States needs to reflect on its past actions, particularly about Iran, and decide on a course of action. To clarify, The Iranian people have been yearning for change, and the United States must stand firmly with them.

So, let us evaluate the U.S.’s past and present policies toward Iran with some practical advice for the current administration. We will also try to critically examine former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s role in the rise of Shiite Islam in Iran and praise President Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. Furthermore, let this serve as a warning against supporting groups like the Mujahidin Khalgh (MEK) while advocating for support for secular Iranians and condemning the Iran nuclear deal for its hidden perils.

The Iranian Uprising: A Cry for Freedom

Protests have been raging in Iran for over a year, ignited by the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman, who was arrested for the perceived violation of Iran’s strict hijab laws. The following protests have become a massive movement, demanding greater freedoms and a complete change in the country’s leadership. Many protesters chanted, ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ —a famous rallying cry after nationwide protests erupted following Amini’s death last year. As the world watches these brave Iranians struggle for a better future, it becomes abundantly clear that they support their cause more actively. Doing so is not just a matter of principle; it’s a strategic imperative for regional peace and stability.

Encouraging International Support

The United States should lead the charge in rallying international support for the Iranian protesters. Diplomatic pressure, economic sanctions, and targeted measures against Iranian officials and entities involved in repression, censorship, and prison abuses should be employed. By taking the lead, the U.S. can encourage its European allies and other nations to join a unified front, sending a clear message to the Iranian regime.

A Democratic Movement in Iran

A popular democratic movement in Iran is desirable and necessary to bring about lasting change. The Islamic Republic’s oppressive regime is incompatible with the aspirations of the Iranian people. Our responsibility is to aid in the transition to a more democratic, representative government that respects the rule of law and individual rights.

Young Iranians, mainly the urban-educated Iranians, are among the most ardent believers in democracy worldwide. Many view America as the country with the best hope for spreading and protecting the high ideals of democracy. In a sense, many Iranians feel a closer affinity with a democratic Israel than all the neighboring Arab Muslim dictatorships. Although Islam was imposed on Iran some 1400 years ago, Iranians deeply value their ancient non-Arab identity and have never fully surrendered to the Arab culture. During the bloodletting war initiated by the late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein against Iran, all Arab states sided with the Butcher of Baghdad against Iran. Yet, Israel was the only Middle Eastern country that remained neutral and helped Iran in the struggle. We Iranians don’t forget our friends, and we also remember our enemies.

Economic Measures

The United States should reconsider sanctions regulations that impede Iran’s interaction with international financial institutions, as such restictions may inadvertently harm the Iranian people. Instead, the U.S. should establish a fund dedicated to supporting the Iranian protest movement and promoting economic stability in the country during this period of upheaval. It is good that the US has imposed sanctions on Iranian officials and entities connected to the repression of protests, censorship, and prison abuses.

Amplifying Support through Media
  • The US should utilize traditional and social media to amplify and sustain support for the Iranian people.
  • By publicly championing their cause, we ensure their struggle does not fade into obscurity.
  • Publicizing their plight keeps the international community engaged and aware of the ongoing protests, which in turn exerts more pressure on the Iranian government to address the demands of its people.
  • President Joe Biden and other high-ranking officials should vigorously embrace traditional and social media to amplify and sustain their support for the Iranian people and remind demonstrators that the administration stands with them.
Facilitating Internet Access

Protesters in Iran rely heavily on the internet for communication and organization. The U.S. should take measures to facilitate greater access to the Internet for the Iranian people. This empowers them to organize more effectively and allows them to communicate with the outside world, shedding light on the situation inside Iran and garnering international support.

The Obama Fiasco

When Obama went on his apology world tour, bad-mouthing the United States and singing the praises of Islam and internationalism, he showed vacillation and weakness at every turn. For one, he did not even find it in himself to voice his support for the brave Iranians against the rule of fascist mullahs in the 2009 Green Revolution.

The results: Thousands of democracy’s best children of Iran were slaughtered, maimed, or imprisoned, and the Iranian mullahs are encouraged and have tripled their speed in the quest for their ultimate weapon, knowing full well that you neither can nor will do anything to stop them.

He failed to voice his support for the people. It implied that what was happening in Iran was a kind of family dispute best left to be settled by the Iranians themselves. A family feud indeed. One side of the “family” with legions of savages armed to the teeth, the Revolutionary Guard  (IRGC) and their hired thugs, and the other side of the “family” defenseless civilians using their voices to plead their case. The Islamic rulers spared no heinous means in mercilessly silencing the people’s representatives.

Today, the IRGC possesses an enormous power structure with influence over almost every aspect of Iranian life. Unlike the regular armed forces responsible for defending Iran’s territory, the IRGC was explicitly designed to protect the Islamic revolution itself and eavesdrop on the regular military. Khomeini never trusted the regular army.

No nation provided even moral support for the Iranian people, while the savage mullahs and their thugs consolidated their rule of terror with impunity. The same scenario is recurring, and the world’s silence is deafening while we are engaged in the Ukraine war.

Carter’s Legacy and the Rise of the Islamic Terrorism

It is impossible to discuss Iran’s tumultuous history without evaluating the role of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. His tenure oversaw a turbulent period in Iran’s history, ultimately leading to the rise of Shiite Islam and the establishment of the Islamic Republic. Carter’s actions, or lack thereof, are attributable to the birth of a regime that has caused immeasurable death, suffering, and turmoil, particularly during the Iran-Iraq war. The heavy toll of hundreds of thousands of Iranian lives lost in that conflict is a painful reminder of the consequences of policies that failed to support the Iranian people.

As President Carter dithered, Khomeini’s influence grew, and his message of Islamic revolution resonated with the Muslim population seeking an alternative to the Shah’s regime. The Carter administration’s failure to understand the dynamics of the Iranian opposition and its inability to support pro-democracy forces ultimately contributed to the rise of the Islamic Republic.

The upheavals of 1979 shattered the existing order, and a turbaned charlatan that Jimmy Carter called a saint, Ayatollah Khomeini, skillfully steered the forces of change to promote his brand of totalitarian rule—a rule aimed at taking Iran backward to a primitive, violent, and misogynistic society.

Carter made a bone-headed decision some forty-five years ago. Both Iranians and Americans paid dearly and continue to pay.

The Trump Administration’s Bold Move: Withdrawal from the Iran Nuclear Deal

In stark contrast to Carter’s legacy, the Trump administration made a crucial decision in May 2018, withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal and reinstating sanctions. This move was not merely an act of political bravado; it was a statement that the Iranian regime, with its history of deception, violence, and religious fanaticism, could not be trusted. It marked a turning point in U.S. policy toward Iran, reflecting an understanding of the true nature of the Islamic Republic.

The Iran Nuclear Deal: A Flawed Bargain

The Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was touted as a diplomatic achievement that would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. However, it had significant flaws. Under the JCPOA, Iran was allowed to continue its nuclear program, albeit with certain limitations. While proponents argued that these restrictions would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, critics rightly pointed out that it allowed Iran to maintain its nuclear infrastructure, setting the stage for a potential breakout once the restrictions expired.

Moreover, the deal did little to address Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region. Iran supported proxy groups, such as Hezbollah, and incited violence in neighboring countries. The influx of funds resulting from sanctions relief further emboldened Iran’s aggressive regional behavior.

The Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the deal recognized these shortcomings and stated that the United States would not disregard Iran’s destabilizing actions.

Beware of Cultish Groups: Rejecting the MEK

While we acknowledge the need to support the Iranian people, we must heed the warnings of history and avoid supporting groups like the Mujahidin Khalgh (MEK). We must discern our choices and not inadvertently back an organization that could harm the people it claims to represent.

The MEK, considered a terrorist organization, has a dark militant history and a controversial reputation. While it claims to advocate for democracy and freedom in Iran, it has been criticized for its cult-like practices and authoritarian leadership. Supporting such a group could have unintended consequences, potentially undermining the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people.

As we acknowledge the need to support the Iranian people, it is vital to heed the warnings of history and avoid supporting groups like the Mujahidin Khalgh (MEK). “The MEK is not a valid player on the Iranian political scene. They have no credibility in Iran,” warns Ryan Crocker, former US Ambassador to Iraq.

I must strongly warn my fellow Americans not to repeat President Jimmy Carter’s monumental folly that brought the infamous Ayatollah Khomeini to power and birthed Islamist jihadism by standing behind Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the notorious Mujahidin-e Khalq or (MEK), the most dangerous terrorist group that even abused and murdered their members for trying to defect or escape from Camp Ashraf in Iraq. It would be equivalent to betraying the ideals of America—the flag holder of freedom in the world.

Secular Iranians are our True Allies

The path forward lies in championing the cause of secular Iranians, the United States’ best friends in the Islamic world. Their vision for a democratic Iran, where individual rights and freedoms are respected, aligns with our values and interests. We must throw our full support behind them in their quest for a brighter future.

The protests in Iran have revealed the Iranian people’s unwavering determination for a better future in which they enjoy the same rights and freedoms that citizens of free nations often take for granted. It is our responsibility as the United States, a beacon of democracy and liberty, to support their aspirations.

While history contains valuable lessons, the present moment calls for a bold, resolute stance. We must rally behind the Iranian people, drawing from our past experiences to navigate the complex landscape of Iranian politics. By standing with the Iranian people in their pursuit of democracy and freedom, we can help pave the way for a more peaceful Middle East.

The time for action is now, and the United States must seize the opportunity to be a force for good in Iran and beyond. In doing so, we can ensure that the tragic mistakes of the past are not repeated and that the Iranian people can finally achieve the freedoms they so desperately desire.

Final note

Once the Islamic regime is defeated, it would be the greatest thing since the fall of Soviet communism. It would subvert virulent Islamic ideology by creating a truly democratic, secular, strong nation in tandem with Israeli democracy in the heart of the Islamic Ummah. It would be an answered prayer just as much for the world as for Iranians.

Sen. Shaheen Votes No on Sen. Hassan’s “Cure” for Government Shutdowns

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 12:00 +0000

The temporary restraining order against hyperbolic fiscal disaster narratives is ending. The stopgap expires on November 17th. Elected officials, bureaucrats, talking heads, and empty heads will be prognosticating doom if America can’t find a way to fund the general government.

In other words, in two weeks, the government will Shutdown unless Congress manages to do its job. And if you think that’s something members of Congress want, you’d be correct. But they shouldn’t, not because of the lies about the vulnerable. Nothing critical stops working, and everyone else gets a paid vacation unless they don’t work for the government.

Air travel, tourism, medical research and many other sectors that rely on government services are greatly hampered by shutdowns. The last government shutdown, lasting 35 days in 2018, cost the economy an estimated $11 billion.

Whether you believe that or not, someone had an idea. What if we passed a law that eliminated the hyperbolic circus of shutdown narratives and forced Congress to get the job done? Pass appropriations bills, preferably clean and by the department. New Hampshire Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan signed on to a bipartisan proposal that tried to do that.

Upon a lapse in government funding, the bill would implement an automatic continuing resolution (CR), on rolling 14-day periods, based on the most current spending levels enacted in the previous fiscal year. This would prevent a shutdown and continue critical services and operations.

During the covered period of an automatic CR, the following restrictions are put in place:

  • No taxpayer-funded travel allowances for official business (except one flight to return to Washington, DC) for the following:
    • White House OMB staff and leadership
    • Members of the House and Senate
    • Committee and personal staff of the House and Senate
  • No official funds may be used for CODEL or STAFFDEL travel
  • No use of campaign funds by congressional offices to supplement official duties or travel expenses
  • No motions to recess or adjourn in the House/Senate for a period or more than 23 hours

In addition, under the bill, no other votes would be in order in the House and Senate unless they pertain to passage of the appropriations bills or mandatory quorum calls in the Senate. However, after 30 days under the automatic CR, certain expiring authorization bills and executive calendar nominations would be eligible for consideration on the Senate floor, including a nomination for a Justice of the Supreme Court or a Cabinet Secretary, and narrow reauthorization legislation for programs operating under an authorization that has already expired or will expire within the next 30 days.

These restrictions can be waived by a two-thirds vote in either chamber but not for longer than seven days.

Hassan, an otherwise reliable rubber stamp for Team Donkey, said

“Government shutdowns waste taxpayer dollars and put our nation at risk, and we need to avoid them whenever possible,” said Hassan. “This commonsense bill incentivizes Congress to fund the government on time and ensures that there is a plan in place to protect families and our economy if Congress cannot come to agreement.”

I can’t say if it was a clean bill. That someone didn’t pack something untoward within its pages to kill it, but it died. It needed 60 votes to pass, but only nine Democrats would join every Republican to support it. Senator Hassan voted yes for her bill, but the Granite State’s Senior Senator, Democrat Jeanne Shaheen, was a no. I checked the latter’s Senate website but could not find a statement on the legislation or the vote, but Jeanne voted with the majority of her party.

They voted for hyperbolic shutdown antics instead of a requirement that they, Congress, stop using the budget process to score political points.

That’s worth knowing the next time Senator Shaheen sidles up to a microphone to badger her Republican colleagues about politicizing the process.

They all voted yes to stop doing that. She voted no.

Trump Civil Fraud Trial is A Sham

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 10:30 +0000

New York Attorney General Letitia James accuses Trump, his sons, and Trump Organization executives of engaging in a decade-long scheme to defraud lenders by inflating Trump’s net worth. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that these charges are baseless and appear politically motivated.

Let us explore key reasons why these allegations lack substance and highlight the potential for their use as a tool to smear Trump’s reputation.

One of the central allegations in this trial is that Trump and his associates used “false and misleading” financial statements to secure more favorable loan terms. However, it is crucial to distinguish between aggressive business practices and fraudulent intent. Trump’s alleged inflated valuations of assets can be attributed to his shrewd business acumen. Real estate values often vary and are subject to interpretation, making differing valuations familiar in the industry. The prosecution must demonstrate that Trump and his associates deliberately misled lenders and not simply that they had different assessments of asset values.

“No bank was affected. No bank was hurt” ~ Donald J Trump.

It is essential to emphasize that the charges against Trump and The Trump Organization are civil, not criminal. In a civil trial, the burden of proof is considerably lower than in a criminal case. The prosecution merely needs to show that specific actions occurred and that they were fraudulent without having to prove malicious intent. This lower standard for evidence makes it easier for allegations to be brought forward but does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing.

It is challenging to overlook the political context of these charges. Attorney General Letitia James campaigned on a “get Trump” platform, openly expressing her intentions to target the former president.

Accusations against a former president should be grounded in solid evidence and not serve to settle political scores.

However, it is heartening to note that, led by the experienced tax attorney Sheri Dillon, this legal team has been vigorously challenging the charges, relentlessly emphasizing contradictions in key witness Michael Cohen’s testimony and pushing for a verdict to end the case. So far. The defense team has been excellently fighting these allegations despite the challenges they face and the controversy surrounding Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision to deny the request for dismissal.

Cohen’s testimony, where he claimed to have manipulated the values of Trump’s real estate properties to match what Trump told him, has been a critical point of contention. The defense team has astutely highlighted the inconsistencies in Cohen’s statements, raising questions about the reliability of his testimony. These contradictions cast doubt on the credibility of a pivotal witness and underscore the importance of a thorough and unbiased examination of the evidence.

The defense team’s request for a verdict to “end this case once and for all” reflects their determination to expedite the trial and resolve it. This strategy aims to minimize the prolonged legal battle, which can be financially and emotionally draining. It also signals their confidence in dismantling the allegations and lack of concrete evidence against Trump and his organization.

Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision to deny the request for dismissal has drawn criticism from Trump’s defense team. They argue that the judge’s decision suggests bias against Trump.

The real impact of this trial is on the Democrat Party. Continuing to pursue these allegations, they are only digging deeper into their corruption and hypocrisy.

From the Mueller investigation to multiple impeachment trials and the constant scrutiny of Trump’s actions, these ongoing legal battles and quests against Donald Trump have become emblematic of the unyielding focus on the actual president by his political adversaries.

The American people have witnessed an unending series of investigations and trials against Donald Trump and have grown weary of the relentless political battles. They see this trial as another politically motivated attack on a popular president among a substantial segment of the electorate. They see this only as an extension of the broader “deep state” conspiracy, which asserts that powerful forces are working against Trump.

The history of American politics reveals that adversarial attacks against a political figure can often galvanize their supporters. In the case of Donald Trump, the civil fraud trial may further cement the loyalty of his base. His ability to withstand several investigations and problems during his presidency has made many perceive him as a resilient and unwavering leader.

At a time when the world is in torment and uncertain, the American people—true to the values that have always been at the core of America’s identity—firmly put their faith in President Trump.

Night Cap: Amid Rising Homicides Vermont Says Its Red Flag Law is Model for the Nation

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 01:30 +0000

Vermont has a Democrat majority legislature and a governor who, while registered as a Republican, could use some basic instruction on what that means. As proof, he has just come out and touted his state’s red flag law as a s model for America.

The red flag law passed by the state Legislature five years ago allows a judge to temporarily remove a gun from a person who is believed to pose a danger to themselves or others.

Scott says he’s not certain that such a law would have prevented the recent mass shooting in Maine, which does not have its own red flag law. But he says he supports the passage of a national version.

“We’re ahead of many states in terms of what we did back in 2018, but I think it’s time for this to be a national conversation with other states on another level and to adopt some of the red flag laws that we’ve gone ahead with,” Scott says.

Vermont has experienced record numbers of homicides in recent years. In October of 2023, they had 8 of them. In 2022, there were twenty-five, and this year could match that, three times the number in 2021.

I don’t suppose that is the law’s fault, and if we are honest, that was never the intention. Job one was to set a precedent for abrogating due process rights. Red Flag laws do that, and it is the only reason Democrats advance them with an understanding that at least a few who favor the political Left have no idea that this is the point.

Once you have justified denying due process rights for any reason, you can expand that infringement—incrementalism with the goal of making the people servants of the government’s will.

We have a similar tactic from the Left here in New Hampshire. Democrats pretend to be concerned about high property taxes. Yes, they are high, but that keeps the total tax burden low. The Granite State consistently has one of the lowest real tax burdens in the country. Our Dems decry high property taxes to justify a new or expanded state-level executive branch office of taxation. Once in place, this mechanism can grow to collect broad-based taxes anywhere, everywhere, and as often as the Governor or Legislature can imagine.

Democrats never lower spending. Taxes can only go up, so any exhortation to the contrary is a bald-faced lie.

The idea that red flag laws will lower violent crime or gun crime is also a lie, but it gets repeated without regard for anything approaching the truth. But everywhere they are implemented, the only thing that disappears is natural rights. Crime and violent death always rise.

Vermont is – if anything – a model for that.

Time For DeSantis To Drop Out

Granite Grok - Sat, 2023-11-04 00:00 +0000

A year ago, I believed I would likely be voting for Ron DeSantis. Today, not a chance. The DeSantis campaign has been one of the most inept in history AND, rather than improving, it is getting worse.

The latest? His handlers put him on MSNBC, which in and of itself is a stupid move, and DeSantis exacerbated the stupidity by pandering to the extremist hosts, more particularly by accepting the absurd premise that the political persecutions of Trump are legitimate prosecutions and disqualifying if Trump is found guilty:

Poetry and Politics

Granite Grok - Fri, 2023-11-03 22:30 +0000

We’ve connected with someone who appears to have two passions: memes and poetry. You will have already seen a few of the memes. I directed him to Nitzakhon, who will share them at his discretion. So, what about the poetry?

I went through this phase during high school, where I tried my hand at expressing myself through poetry. Back then, we couldn’t just change our gender. We had to explore reality, which – while the poetry was pretty bad – no one lost any parts or organs or was poisoned by chemicals meant to give one the appearance of something other than what they were.

Unlike gender transition, poetry is something kids are free to explore – in my opinion. Bad poetry is not just for adults. And good poetry is for everyone if you know what you like. While I have no issues grasping imagery or an of the other creative elements, poetry is not something I typically pursue, but someone asked me to check theirs out, and I did.

Some of it is political and some not, so I’ll lay some of it on you, man (fingers snapping in the background) – and you can let us know what you think.

A Leftist Rebukes Hamas

Hey, Hamas, you silly dolts,
You need to mow down more adults.
Keep fighting for your patch of sand,
Since Jews do not deserve the land,
But chopping off their babies’ heads
And slashing children in their beds?
You really need to be more subtle;
To succeed, you must befuddle.
Convince the unborn babies’ mothers
That nothing counts more than their ’druthers
And children are a dungeon chain
Forcing women’s toil and pain.
Convince them that it’s not alive
Until you see its face arrive
And anyone who disagrees
Hates women and ignores their pleas
(The usual apologetics).
Delegate the death to medics
Who live by an assassin’s dictum:
Kill when none can see the victim!

By pro-choice tactics, you may choose
A better way to kill the Jews,
But should you choose the final solution
Applied to France’s Revolution,
We still will stand up for your side
While your land is occupied.
Behead in public or abort—
The right to either, we’ll support.

One more…

The Rabbi

based on a true story from the 1995 talk
“Men and Marriage” by Rabbi Daniel Lapin

A rabbi in an airplane row
Sat by a famous Communist
And two young men who seemed to know
The rabbi’s needs, the foods he missed.

His feet swelled up like sausage links,
So they replaced his shoes with slippers.
They gave him sandwiches and drinks,
The envy of the other trippers.

The Communist, observing this,
Said, “Rabbi, I am quite impressed:
In no way are your sons remiss—
They give to you their very best!”

“My sons?”  The rabbi shook his head.
“It’s my disciples you just saw,
But if my sons were here instead,
You’d really look at them in awe!”

The Communist sat there and wept.
“I have four sons, ungrateful bunch!
My teachings, none of them have kept,
And they would never make me lunch!”

The rabbi said, “They heed your words,
They keep your ways.  You can’t escape
What all their lives from you they heard:
Their father’s one step more an ape!

“Just as a horse obeys a man,
All lower life-forms must respect
A higher one, so by your plan,
Such thinking’s what their acts reflect.

“I’ve taught my sons about creation;
I’ve taught them through God’s Holy Word:
One step toward Adam’s generation
Is one step closer to the Lord!”

The Communist just turned away;
He said no more and gave no nod.
Our tale ends here, but still I pray
He may have later turned to God.

And the author.
