DISQUS Doodlings – Is It Individual Action or Government? Throw in Some DavosSpeak Goals as Well and Get A Mess

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 21:00 +0000

My head hurts and it isn’t even Grokster Ian that wrote this. At least with his writing, it’s cogent and thoughtful – the headaches come from that he forces you to think orthogonal / sideways from your normal thought patterns.  However, this post from Treehugger is none of this.

Individual Actions Can Reduce Emissions Up to 70%, Says IPCC Report
Yes, personal actions and changes do matter after all. It’s the 1.5-degree lifestyle.

The 1.5-degree [Celsius] “lifestyle” is one in which chief Eco-Socialist Lloyd is actually practicing and wrote a book about his attempt to live.  What it comes down to is deciding to live poorly.  No, not in actions and decisions but in a disciplined way of living without things, by personally deciding to reduce one’s living standards to lower their carbon emissions.

You know, like most of us that believe in religion, learning and understanding sacred writings (in my case, the Bible), and attuning one’s life to a moral standard.  These folks have adapted that to their environmentalism in that the greatest sin of all is living a lavish lifestyle and not caring how much energy (aka, “carbon”) they use. After all, Lloyd’s best-known phrase here at GraniteGrok is “Eat the Rich” as it completely sums up his adapted Class warfare, not against the rich per se, between those that have voluntarily chosen the equivalent of a vow-of-poverty monk concerning energy usage and Uber-carbon offsets High Priest (owning several large homes, SUVs, boats, flies in private jets, et al) Al Gore.

Except people like Gore, DiCaprio, and all the rest that make the pilgrimages to each new UN COP meeting to screw America for the sake of GAIA (aka, our planet Goddess who is getting really mad at us all) never seem to get yelled at.  Just us Westerners even as 7 out of the 10 worst polluting rivers in the world start in Asia and empty into the ocean via China; go figure.

Anyways, a small slice on which I took a bit of umbrage at what Lloyd start with:

…The report also was, for me, a bit of a vindication. Last year I wrote a book, “Living the 1.5 Degree Lifestyle,” with the subtitle, “Why individual climate action matters more than ever.” It looked at the demand side—at what individuals can do to reduce their carbon emissions. So does the IPCC report, particularly in chapter 5. It starts with a bang, claiming that “the potential of demand-side strategies across all sectors is 40-70% by 2050.”

All sectors – translation: all aspects of your life.  Now, the percentages are rather large and we’re only 28 years away from 2050 – that’s a large goal.  Are you willing to make your standard of living that low just to be in compliance with their religious dogma?  Yeah, not me.  But one thing stood out for a change – INDIVIDUAL action.  “Can” means voluntary -and I’m fine with that. It’s the point I’ve been making for years – if you folks can do that, persuade one person at a time to live as you do, GREAT!  But they won’t – they grow weary that most of us ignore them.

But here’s where it starts to go off the rails:

Also in the first paragraph, the authors state that “to enhance well-being, people demand services and not primary energy and physical resources per se.” This is an insight we have tried to discuss for years on Treehugger—the old “you want a hole, not a drill.” You want to get from A to B, not a car. You want to not freeze in your home, not a furnace.

Julia Steinberger, environmental economist and a contributing author to the IPCC report, tells Westervelt for Drilled News: “All we need is services; that’s what there is demand for. We don’t need the energy use itself. So let’s think about how we deliver those services in a more efficient way.”

Any time I see “WE” in the hands of the Eco-Socialists, I see 1) Collectivism (as if I’d really want to be part of them) is assumed, and 2) it isn’t about “we”, it’s about the Collective telling us how to live our lives (Government’s “gentle hand” will direct us – after all, it ONLY has our best interest at heart, right?  WAIT – Government has a heart????).

Maybe THEY want only services (everyone else delivering “stuff” to them) but nobody that I know wants to live a “service-based” lifestyle.  Oh, I have no problem with having my septic tank pumped and trees taken down. I have no problem hiring people to do things (like putting in Allen block walls) that I know I can’t do now and I don’t want to spend all that time learning how to do so. Yes, I want my paintbrushes and such to be MINE – and not have to rent services from someone else to get that done (well, except for those high and awkward spots I can’t get to).

Sorry, a free person owns stuff. Sorry, but read this again and let me remind you…

…that Happiness at that time was merely a substitute for Property.  The Right to Private Property is the mark of a free society. When that Right is removed, by one means or another, you are no longer free.

But the stupid part was “We don’t need the energy use itself. So let’s think about how we deliver those services in a more efficient way“.  Isn’t energy (carbon based) the WHOLE point of what they want to do? Forcing us all into using only renewables (and deftly doing the smoke and mirrors to remove hydro as an RE)?

And now, they don’t want us to thing about that? Just plain wrong, wrong, wrong. So I said:

Sorry, both of these premises are wrong. Both take control from citizens and give it to faceless others. Like what China is doing in Shanghai right now – the Chinese city folk want food and receive medical care.

Their government is denying them both. Go ahead and present those premises to them and see what the answers are.

And yes, I would want the drill so I can make holes where ever (on my land) and on MY timing. Self-reliance instead of dependency.

Now add this from America Outloud for the DavosSpeak (aka, the World Economic Forum where all the Elites gather in Davos, Switzerland and decide how they wish to see Society operate):

You Will Own Nothing and Be Happy,” said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum. As Anthony P. Mueller, a professor of economics, warns, “The main thrust of the forum is global control. Free markets and individual choice do not stand as the top values, but state interventionism and collectivism. Individual liberty and private property are to disappear from this planet by 2030.”

If you own nothing and have to rent everything, are you really free?  I say no as you have no way to build equity (wealth, the financial version of the word and not the Critical Race Theory bastardization definition).  But now, I see Treehugger is taking it’s eco-socialism to another level.

I’ll have even MORE fun!

‘We the People’ Are the New, Permanent Underclass in America

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 19:30 +0000

This is financial tyranny.

The U.S. government—and that includes the current administration—is spending money it doesn’t have on programs it can’t afford, and “we the taxpayers” are the ones who must foot the bill for the government’s fiscal insanity.

We’ve been sold a bill of goods by politicians promising to pay down the national debt, jumpstart the economy, rebuild our infrastructure, secure our borders, ensure our security, and make us all healthy, wealthy, and happy.

None of that has come to pass, and yet we’re still being loaded down with debt, not of our own making.

Let’s talk numbers, shall we?

The national debt (the amount the federal government has borrowed over the years and must pay back) is $30 trillion and growing. That translates to roughly $242,000 per taxpayer.

Now the Biden administration is proposing a $5.8 trillion spending budget that notably includes $813 billion for national defense, $30 billion to “fund the police,” and a plan to reduce the national deficit by roughly $1 trillion over 10 years through additional tax hikes.

It’s estimated that the amount this country owes is now 130% greater than its gross domestic product (all the products and services produced in one year by labor and property supplied by the citizens).

The U.S. ranks as the 12th most indebted nation in the world, with much of that debt owed to the Federal Reserve, large investment funds and foreign governments, namely, Japan and China.

Essentially, the U.S. government is funding its very existence with a credit card.

In 2021, we paid more than $562 billion in interest on that public debt, which according to journalist Rob Garver, “is more than the annual budget of every individual federal agency except for the Treasury, the Department of Health and Human Services (which manages the Medicare and Medicaid government health insurance programs), and the Department of Defense.”

According to the Committee for a Reasonable Federal Budget, the interest we’ve paid on this borrowed money is “nearly twice what the federal government will spend on transportation infrastructure, over four times as much as it will spend on K-12 education, almost four times what it will spend on housing, and over eight times what it will spend on science, space, and technology.”

Clearly, the national debt isn’t going away anytime soon, especially not with government spending on the rise and interest payments making up such a large chunk of the budget.

Still, the government remains unrepentant, unfazed and undeterred in its wanton spending.

Indeed, the national deficit (the difference between what the government spends and the revenue it takes in) remains at more than $1.5 trillion.

If Americans managed their personal finances the way the government mismanages the nation’s finances, we’d all be in debtors’ prison by now.

Despite the government propaganda being peddled by the politicians and news media, however, the government isn’t spending our tax dollars to make our lives better.

We’re being robbed blind so the governmental elite can get richer.

We’re not living the American dream. We’re living a financial nightmare.

In the eyes of the government, “we the people, the voters, the consumers, and the taxpayers” are little more than pocketbooks waiting to be picked.

“We the people” have become the new, permanent underclass in America.

Consider: The government can seize your home and your car (which you’ve bought and paid for) over nonpayment of taxes. Government agents can freeze and seize your bank accounts and other valuables if they merely “suspect” wrongdoing. And the IRS insists on getting the first cut of your salary to pay for government programs over which you have no say.

We have no real say in how the government runs, or how our taxpayer funds are used, but we’re being forced to pay through the nose, anyhow.

We have no real say, but that doesn’t prevent the government from fleecing us at every turn and forcing us to pay for endless wars that do more to fund the military industrial complex than protect us, pork barrel projects that produce little to nothing, and a police state that serves only to imprison us within its walls.

If you have no choice, no voice, and no real options when it comes to the government’s claims on your property and your money, you’re not free.

It wasn’t always this way, of course.

Early Americans went to war over the inalienable rights described by philosopher John Locke as the natural rights of life, liberty and property.

It didn’t take long, however—a hundred years, in fact—before the American government was laying claim to the citizenry’s property by levying taxes to pay for the Civil War. As the New York Times reports, “Widespread resistance led to its repeal in 1872.”

Determined to claim some of the citizenry’s wealth for its own uses, the government reinstituted the income tax in 1894. Charles Pollock challenged the tax as unconstitutional, and the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in his favor. Pollock’s victory was relatively short-lived. Members of Congress—united in their determination to tax the American people’s income—worked together to adopt a constitutional amendment to overrule the Pollock decision.

On the eve of World War I, in 1913, Congress instituted a permanent income tax by way of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution and the Revenue Act of 1913. Under the Revenue Act, individuals with income exceeding $3,000 could be taxed starting at 1% up to 7% for incomes exceeding $500,000.

It’s all gone downhill from there.

Unsurprisingly, the government has used its tax powers to advance its own imperialistic agendas and the courts have repeatedly upheld the government’s power to penalize or jail those who refused to pay their taxes.

While we’re struggling to get by, and making tough decisions about how to spend what little money actually makes it into our pockets after the federal, state and local governments take their share (this doesn’t include the stealth taxes imposed through tolls, fines and other fiscal penalties), the government continues to do whatever it likes—levy taxes, rack up debt, spend outrageously and irresponsibly—with little thought for the plight of its citizens.

To top it all off, all of those wars the U.S. is so eager to fight abroad are being waged with borrowed funds. As The Atlantic reports, “U.S. leaders are essentially bankrolling the wars with debt, in the form of purchases of U.S. Treasury bonds by U.S.-based entities like pension funds and state and local governments, and by countries like China and Japan.”

Of course, we’re the ones who will have to repay that borrowed debt.

For instance, American taxpayers have been forced to shell out more than $5.6 trillion since 9/11 for the military-industrial complex’s costly, endless so-called “war on terrorism.” That translates to roughly $23,000 per taxpayer to wage wars abroad, occupy foreign countries, provide financial aid to foreign allies, and fill the pockets of defense contractors and grease the hands of corrupt foreign dignitaries.

Mind you, that staggering $6 trillion is only a portion of what the Pentagon spends on America’s military empire.

The United States also spends more on foreign aid than any other nation, with nearly $300 billion disbursed over a five-year period. More than 150 countries around the world receive U.S. taxpayer-funded assistance, with most of the funds going to the Middle East, Africa and Asia. That price tag keeps growing, too.

As Forbes reports, “U.S. foreign aid dwarfs the federal funds spent by 48 out of 50 state governments annually. Only the state governments of California and New York spent more federal funds than what the U.S. sent abroad each year to foreign countries.”

Most recently, in response to Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, the Biden Administration approved $13.6 billion in military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine, with an additional $200 million for immediate military assistance.

As Dwight D. Eisenhower warned in a 1953 speech, this is how the military-industrial complex will continue to get richer, while the American taxpayer will be forced to pay for programs that do little to enhance our lives, ensure our happiness and well-being, or secure our freedoms.

This is no way of life.

Yet it’s not just the government’s endless wars that are bleeding us dry.

We’re also being forced to shell out money for surveillance systems to track our movements, money to further militarize our already militarized police, money to allow the government to raid our homes and bank accounts, money to fund schools where our kids learn nothing about freedom and everything about how to comply, and on and on.

It’s tempting to say that there’s little we can do about it, except that’s not quite accurate.

There are a few things we can do (demand transparency, reject cronyism and graft, insist on fair pricing and honest accounting methods, call a halt to incentive-driven government programs that prioritize profits over people), but it will require that “we the people” stop playing politics and stand united against the politicians and corporate interests who have turned our government and economy into a pay-to-play exercise in fascism.

Unfortunately, we’ve become so invested in identity politics that pit us against one another and keep us powerless and divided that we’ve lost sight of the one label that unites us: we’re all Americans.

Trust me, we’re all in the same boat, folks, and there’s only one real life preserver: that’s the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

The Constitution starts with those three powerful words: “We the people.”

There is power in our numbers.

As I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, that remains our greatest strength in the face of a governmental elite that continues to ride roughshod over the populace. It remains our greatest defense against a government that has claimed for itself unlimited power over the purse (taxpayer funds) and the sword (military might).

Where we lose out is when we fall for the big-talking politicians who spend big at our expense.

Odins Men: “Wokest SJW Cringe and It’s Delicious”

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 18:00 +0000

Loyal Reader Matt sent this over and as he said: “This is 11 minutes of pure cringe.  These woke SJWs are the ones upending society–and they vote, too.  It’s hilarious and maddening at the same time.”

Ayup. Definitely First World problems unlike every other issue that most people have around the world, like poverty, struggling to feed a family, war, bad government.  These FINE examples of illegibility and illogicalness are presented to you as Wokeness Supreme.

Just love that pink-haired pajama boy who wonders why he has to “out” himself in class when he’s already done so by putting up his video. Forget chess – this guy isn’t checkers level bright.

Each one of these nitwits has no basis in real reality – only their own perception that everyone else has to revolve around them.  Narcissistic to the max. “Self-awareness” has no meaning at all for these Generation Snowflakes.

And the host’s deadpanned delivery is straight-up hilarious and nails these Wokesters to the wall.

Think Tank Uncovers Election Fraud Conspiracy in Vermont.

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 16:30 +0000

New Hampshire has gone out of its way to legitimize election fraud for decades. Letting out-of-state college students paying non-resident tuition rates must vote here, or that’s voter suppression?

Students are allowed to use campus addresses for proof or none at all. Thousands of votes are cast in every election by people who were never residents, lied about residency, or left the state, despite “promising” to stay to stuff our ballot boxes.

It’s an epidemic and the political Left and, to some degree, on the right (mainly near the top of that food chain). These elites have worked for years to enable the abuse, protect it, or pretend it doesn’t exist.

But you can’t have all three. You can’t say it’s not happening while advocating for it. And the introduction of universal vote by mail completely undermines the arguments.

If you can or must mail your ballot, there’s no reason not to mail it to the polling place nearest the address on the bill for your overpriced out-of-state tuition. The one on your state ID or driver’s license. That one place from which you pay your taxes, get called for jury duty or give to the police when you get arrested.

But could it get worse?

The Ethan Allen Institute has uncovered ballots cast by graduates of a Vermont College. They mailed in ballots but used in-state addresses for a college they no longer attend.

According to research conducted by the Vermont-based think tank, 10 graduates of Middlebury College who left the state years ago are recorded as having voted by absentee ballot in the 2020 election.

Nine of those absentee ballots had been mailed in under the students’ names. Five of the 9 absentee voters had their old Middlebury student mailing addresses on file, and the other four absentee voters received ballots at mailing addresses in other states and countries.

For the Record, the nice folks at The Ethan Allen Institute did not call this a conspiracy. I did, becasue that’s what it is. And I’m happy to prove it.

The defenders of our ridiculously porous elections – and this recent experience in Vermont – claim these votes didn’t change anything, but that’s a lie. This changes everything!

At least ten people deliberately violated local and federal election laws. And they didn’t just intentionally break the law. Someone somewhere encouraged this.

These were not wasted or throw-away votes. It takes time and intent to take a ballot, complete it, claim a residence that is not yours in another town or state, and then knowingly send the ballot to that town or “precinct.”

Someone deliberately sought to illegally elect candidates whose votes once in office could result in not just acts of regulatory force but could cost taxpayers thousands, millions (even trillions of dollars at the Congressional level).

That’s not a petty theft, nor is this just a few votes that didn’t do what was intended; change an election. It was not some mistake repeated by a handful of college grads. It’s a criminal conspiracy. A deliberate act of fraud perpetrated by multiple individuals with commonality. And it matters.

Attempting to rob a bank and failing is still a federal offense. The outcome makes no difference. Those votes represent an interstate conspiracy to commit vote theft to change the outcome of an election in Vermont.

And the bad news is that it’s not just happening in Vermont. It’s everywhere, not just in a few key states where we’re finding more evidence of a much larger conspiracy to commit election fraud. That thing the Left says didn’t happen because it benefits them.

Well, they thought it would benefit them. As it turns out, that deliberate act may prove to be their undoing, but we can’t begin to rely on that. Election fraud is real no matter who does it, and until we seriously punish people who commit it and get caught, there’s minimal incentive for it to stop.

Teacher: At Time of Birth Doctors Guess If The Baby is a Boy or a Girl …

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 15:00 +0000

A first-grade teacher told some kindergartners a fairy tale recently. Once upon a time, when a baby was born – every time, actually – the doctor delivering the baby could guess wrong as to which sex it might be.

None of them must be biologists because they – as we now know, thanks to Justice Ketnaji Brown Jackson – would be able to answer that question.

Years ago, before the institutionalization of stupid, determining sex at birth was so simple that an illiterate peasant could do it. Neither #woke educators nor confused supreme court justice nominees could muddy that water. Is there a stem on the apple?

It’s that simple, and it still is, unless you allow it to get out of control, and we have.

So when babies are born, the doctor looks at them and they make a guess about whether the baby is a boy or girl based on what they look like. Most of the time that guess is 100% correct; there are no issues whatsoever, but sometimes the doctor  is wrong; the doctor makes an incorrect guess. When a doctor makes a correct guess, that’s when a person is called cisgender. When a doctor’s guess is wrong that’s when they are transgender.

I don’t care who you were then or what you are now – you can decide to be a giraffe, not my business, but I am curious why this conversation is even happening? Your role is as a teacher, and your job is to teach fundamentals—building blocks of education with maybe a few helpful social prompts. Sit up straight, hands to yourself, wait your turn, no shouting, teach them letters, numbers, introductory reading, math, and motor skills tasks.

Maybe a nap. Nothing quite like naptime.

That’s a lot for young kids to manage, a process slowed down by the assumption that we need to make it fun. But nowhere do I recall the need to discuss birth, sex, or gender choices to the very young.

It serves no academic purpose. Most kids won’t even be able to process the nuance or personal space, let alone the Marxist gender construct. Introducing it is a waste of valuable taxpayer time and money.

To put it less politely, it’s not your f**king job.

You’ve taken show and tell and turned it into the progressive modern version of a Hitler Gender Youth Camp. We’re not going to prepare your mind to think and learn; we’re telling you this is “what you should believe.”

Doctors get it wrong. No, they don’t. But adults mess with it afterward, including public school teachers who contribute to the spike in mental health issues and suicidal ideation in young people.

And don’t tell your parents. What happens in Public School stays in Public school, or else.

When parents ask questions (the Ed complex calls this being bigoted), they get called names, end up on the blacklist, and may experience government intimidation. First from the teachers, then the school board, then the collective, and maybe even the US Attorney’s office of domestic terrorism.

And that would be funny conspiracy theory fluff if we’d not already seen all of it.

This is also why the ed unions and the progressive industrial laundromat that grew up around them oppose parents having free and easy access to the public school curriculum or how their money gets spent.

Experts will be spending it to clone their warped culture in your children, and you are not permitted to intercede.

We suggest you do it anyway.

At Least 20 FBI and ATF Assets Embedded at Capitol on J6

Libertarian Leanings - Wed, 2022-04-13 14:22 +0000

Sophie Mann, Just the News:  Court filing states 20 federal 'assets' embedded at the Capitol on January 6

The 41-page motion was filed Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington, D.C., according to a report in the Epoch Times.

"At least 20 FBI and ATF assets were embedded around the Capitol on J6," a footnote in the motion reads. The motion also states that attorneys "combed through a mountain of discovery" including summaries of interviews conducted by FBI agents and that members of the Oath Keepers, a far-right group, were "being monitored and recorded prior to J6."

Fischer writes that despite carefully inspecting a significant amount of evidence during discovery, he has not found "one iota of proof" that the defendants pre-planned or had any "intention, design, or scheme to specifically enter the Capitol Building on J6."

Islamofascism and the Mental Immune System

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 13:30 +0000

Our beliefs and ideas make us human, and their quality determines the kind of human we are. We shield and fiercely defend our beliefs and ideas for good reason: without their integrity and internal harmony, the mind becomes disorganized and even dysfunctional.

While our inborn immune system fights off viruses and bacteria that aim to kill us, another immune system, the mental immune system—MIS—gradually formed after birth, protects the mind and takes every measure to keep the mind’s ideas and beliefs on the same page.

Humans are living information machines, receiving input from both external sources as well as the body, processing it in some fashion, and producing output: our thoughts and behavior. From the moment of birth, parents, siblings, and others play pivotal parts in supplying the input and influencing how it is processed.

The raw material for ideas and beliefs reaches us through the senses. The brain takes the massive barrage of input and attempts to organize it and incorporate it in an orderly fashion: a monumental task that is taken for granted until something goes seriously wrong. Relatively minor glitches in the working of the mind, such as misunderstanding, misperception, and making poor decisions, occur daily and may not present serious problems. Over time, however, even these minor glitches in the mind, caused by faulty input, poor processing, or both, can add up and significantly compromise its integrity.

The MIS is not exclusively exclusionary with the sole task of preventing intrusion of the disruptive or undesirable input. It also actively seeks ideas that are harmonious and confirmatory of the ones already in the mind. Through the active admission of the supporting ideas, the MIS reinforces its defenses and reduces its vulnerability.

Given the tabula rasa—blank slate—nature of the mind, early input becomes of paramount importance in determining its further development. It was in recognition of this reality that the famed Behavioral psychologist, J. B. Watson proclaimed:

‘Give me a dozen healthy infants, well—formed, and my own specified world to bring them up in and I’ll guarantee to take any one at random and train him to become any type of specialist I might select — doctor, lawyer, artist, merchant—chief and, yes, even beggar—man and thief, regardless of his talents, penchants, tendencies, abilities, vocations, and race of his ancestors. I am going beyond my facts and I admit it, but so have the advocates of the contrary and they have been doing it for many thousands of years.’

What Watson said may not hold perfectly in every case. Yet, the essence of his boast is indeed supported by numerous studies as well as naturalistic observations. Early environmental influences play the cardinal role in programming the mind—setting it on its course. In actuality, the brain seems to say: first come, first served. It is for this reason that Muslims are overwhelmingly born to Muslim parents, Hindus to Hindu parents, Catholics to Catholic parents, and so on.

This is not to say that changes, even major changes, are not possible after the early years. They are possible and they do happen in some instances. However, in order for major changes to happen, major reworking must take place in the mind. Change is effortful and the law of conservation of energy also applies to the working of the mind and mitigates change unless the incentives to do so overcome the default mode of inertia.

The parents, other adults, and children, as well as the prevailing culture, are powerful teachers and trainers of the young mind. In the Islamic world, Islam permeates every aspect of life with overbearing severity. The young mind has little access to competing non—Islamic input. As the child’s foundation of belief forms, the MIS works to protect it, further reinforce it, and bar, falsify or dismiss any ideas that may clash with the mind’s already in—place contents.

As humans, we lack comprehensive pre-programmed software—instincts—to direct us in life. We, however, are born with predispositions—rudiments of software programs that will be further elaborated in interaction with life. We are, therefore, importantly dependent on how we and others, and in what fashion, further elaborate the rudimentary software. Somehow, there has been a trade-off. As our brain evolved both in size and power, what few instincts we may have had given way. In a real sense, we took charge of our own destiny.

Science is learning more and more about the brain/mind, considered by many experts as the most complex and enigmatic entity in the universe. With each passing day, another piece of the brain/mind puzzle falls in place. Just recently psychologist Drew Western and his team at Emory University used fMRI—functional magnetic resonance imaging—on 15 strong Republicans and 15 staunch Democrats to literally pinpoint the parts of the brain involved in what is called ‘confirmation bias,’ the lead faculty of the MIS. The participants were asked to evaluate statements by George W. Bush and John Kerry where the candidates clearly contradicted themselves. The researchers found that the Republicans were as critical of John Kerry as the Democrats were of George W. Bush, while both fiercely defended their respective political comrades.

The surprising part of the study is that while the confirmation bias was at work, the brain areas ordinarily associated with a rational decision—making were inactive. By contrast, an elaborate network of brain structures that process emotion and conflicts were highly activated. In short, confirmation bias has its own brain resources that shunt out the reasoning parts in order to protect the already in—place beliefs and preferences.

The confirmation bias, the mainstay of the MIS, protects beliefs values and ideas, be they political, religious, or of any other type; it is also helped in the discharge of its functions by the mind’s defense mechanisms such as rationalization (faulty reasoning) and denial (refusing to accept the reality of the irrefutable). Allocation of extensive faculties of the brain to content protection demonstrates the critical importance to its normal functioning of safeguarding the mind’s contents. It is important to remember that rationality is not the master faculty of the brain. Emotions also play major parts in even tasks that are ordinarily thought to be the purview of rationality, particularly when one’s beliefs, values, and ideas are at stake. Much of the work of the MIS is done without the person himself being fully aware of it. Confirmation bias seems to be almost automatic and autonomous—the first line of defense against unwelcome intruders and a means of summoning other resources of the mind to defeat the unwelcome invaders.

The MIS is not strictly static and defensive. As it protects what is in—place, it also actively seeks to expand the prowess of the mind by incorporating new knowledge—preferring the kind of knowledge that does not conflict with the body of information already at hand. This necessary openness feature of the MIS makes it susceptible to invasion by some disharmonious input that creates conflicts in the mind and presents the risk of paralyzing or seriously compromising its functioning. ‘Beliefs’ can be thought of as the main framework of the mind while ‘ideas’ are the minor components that connect the grid—work together.

Total or major replacement of beliefs, particularly as one gets older, becomes less likely, yet it happens occasionally. Paul’s sudden transformation from a rabid Christian—persecutor to a devote believer of the faith of Christ is a familiar instance of such a drastic change. Ideas, on the other hand, are much more amenable to change, replacement, or discard as long as they do not substantially undermine the integrity of the main framework—the belief.

Lacking pre-programs to negotiate life makes the person his own boss and compass. Being one’s own boss is a mixed blessing. The boss has to make decisions, many with serious implications, and accept responsibility for all outcomes. That’s what the mind has to do at all times. Faced with difficult decisions, conflicting ideas and demands they are not equipped to address, people may resort to a variety of alternatives such as ‘regression’ (acting childlike) to absolve themselves of the responsibility of deciding and acting on their own. People, therefore, are often willing to let someone else do the thinking, deciding and acting for them. In the case of regression caused by the stress of the inability to cope, the person reverts to the time that the parents handled those chores.

It is in this vein that some people wish to go back, figuratively, to the primordial time—the time that perhaps our life was steered primarily by reflexes and instincts and the conscious volitional brain played only minor roles. For this reason, there is a great deal of appeal to surrender the brain to another—a substitute for the instincts we lack. By so doing, we would be largely freed from the often daunting task of having to make critical decisions ourselves. That external brain can present itself as a leader, a prophet of God, or a charlatan.

We like to think of ourselves as rational beings. Yet, our rational nature is only one part of the brain/mind enigma. We are also emotional beings. We tend to favor our rational side because it is generally fact-based, orderly and leaves little room for uncertainty—all importantly operative components of our emotional nature.

Religious belief is primarily emotionally based. There is no way of rationally proving or disproving the religious faith. Faith and reasons are not the same. ‘Fore the core of religious faith is that mystic feeling which unites man with God,’ a religious luminary has proclaimed.

There is nothing inherently wrong with religion. Religion can be a tremendous force for the good. However, when religion, this feeling-based belief, is filled with superstition, intolerance and hatred, then the beholder of that religion embodies those qualities and becomes a veritable menace to the self and to others. Feelings energize actions. Destructive feelings energize destructive actions.

Muslims living in theocratic states, in particular, tend to be victims of their religious brains: their religious brains are indoctrinated, from the moment of birth, by an extensive ruthless in-power cadre of self—serving mullahs and imams who are intent at maintaining their stranglehold on the rank and file of the faithful—their very source of support and livelihood.

The mullahs and imams, as well as parents and others, envelop the receptive mind, feed it their dogma, and shield it from information that may undermine or falsify its version of belief.

For as long as there are bigoted, self—serving clergy and their collaborators with first exclusive access to the blank slate, the problem of supplying wave after wave of Islamofascists will persist. It is the brain/mind that assesses things, makes decisions, and orders actions. To the extent that the in-place software of the religious brain is exclusionary in nature, hateful in orientation, and violent in tendency, to that extent, the individual is both the perpetrator and the victim of barbaric acts.

The surest way of dealing with Islamofascism is through effective inculcation of a religious software that promotes tolerance of diversity, freedom of faith and consciousness, goodwill to all, as well as the purging of all the vile and discriminatory dogma that permeates the outdated primitive belief of some 1400 years ago. The best place to start is clearly the home, then schools, and mosques where the deeply—entrenched mullahs and imams of vested interest must be compelled by law to refrain from preaching messages of hate and violence against the unbelievers.

Perhaps free societies should constitute a diverse panel of citizens to scrutinize all religious teachings and screen the software programs for destructive viruses. Once these viruses are introduced into the mind, clearing them, as we said before, becomes difficult if not impossible.

A religious brain programmed by the message of justice, love and respect for all is bliss, while the discriminatory, hateful, and violent religious brain is a curse.

CNN’s New Premium Streaming Service Is Already Failing

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 12:00 +0000

I saw the ad for CNN+ the other day, and I’m glad I wasn’t drinking anything when it popped up on my Prime Home page. I would have laughed that liquid up through my nose and across the room. Who at CNN thought anyone would pay more for more CNN?

The Cable News Network (CNN) has miserable ratings, and those are propped up by airport screens and other public places where people are 1) trapped and 2) can’t change the channel. But someone decided that this product – endless fabrications, manipulations, and fearmongering BS – would attract a paying audience.

This might have been a more realistic strategy.

Let’s package our failing brand and charge a premium price. How did that meeting even go?

We’ve been wrong about the Trump campaign, COVID, Hunters Laptop, J6 (that’s starting to unravel), hiding things for Biden – all of which we could have covered correctly had we done actual journalism. Let’s bundle that failure, feature known liars and propagandists, and ask people to pay extra! We’ll call it CNN+.

I can see Democrats making everyone else pay for that, but they won’t, and neither will you.

No one’s signing up. Projects subscriptions are way down. And rumor has it that come May 1st, when its new president takes over, they’ll need to cut bait after dropping millions to market CNN+, which had to be a lot like promoting the Democrat utopia with a straight face.

Yes, yes, this will work!

No, I don’t think it will.

But it affirms a suspicion we’ve had about the network for a while now.

There’s a room full of chimpanzees at the headquarters who have been placed on mushrooms or some higher-order psychedelics. When not flinging poo, their job is to come up with programming ideas.

James O’Keefe should have some undercover video about that any day. Or maybe not.

We’ve already seen that video. These kooks are all-in on the Passion of the Marx (no monkeys needed). Karl Marx never had a real job and spent most of his life living off the work of others. That guy created an economic system to justify his lifestyle, and look – Joe Biden. Same guy. Same “success” story, except Biden, used the government to make himself and his family wildly rich while using that same government to try and make everyone else poor.

And CNN’s covering for him too. But the same people who won’t pay more taxes, no matter how patriotic they claim the act, aren’t lining up to pay more for CNN either.

And the experts at CNN didn’t see that coming.

“The Future You Have Set on Fire”

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 10:30 +0000

“You cannot wish to have the world you want. You have to live in the world we have.” Bill Hemmer, who I think is one of the brightest news people on FOX News and the best interviewer in the media, said this on air a couple of weeks ago.

He was referencing the outrage displayed by the Left towards the Oil Industry Executives testifying before Congress.

The House called these execs to explain the incredible rise in gas prices and defend industry pricing. Like most hearings in Congress, this was pure theater. The industry has a part in the inflation causing increase in gas prices but if you want to point the finger at the cause, go to the big White House at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Congress, like the Media, is giving cover to a very unpopular President who is crushed by inflation. This unpopularity spells a wave of gained seats in both Chambers by Republicans in November. This hearing is part of the defense plan the Democrats are using to try to stem the tide.

The wrong decisions made by Biden in his first year are evidence of a lack of a comprehensive plan to move the country away from fossil fuels. The move may not be wrong, but the haphazard manner used by the Left is. America, actually the world, is far too dependent on fossil fuels for a rapid transition to happen. Petroleum is in everything we touch, do, travel, and even wear to think we can turn off the tap and turn on the windmills, and all will be good. But that is what the Left, especially the Radical Left, expects. They have been listening to too much Greta Thunberg and AOC. One is a child, and the other acts like one, and neither has a plan.

AOC, ever the actress, used her time to go for the sound bite. Her questions are never on point, so she has to go for drama, and she shot high in this case. With a slow cadence and a deep stare, she looked upon the group of execs and condemned them for destroying our future. “The future you have set on fire” were the exact words she uttered. They are not hers, but those of a staffer and one I am sure was celebrated this day in AOC’s world. Like the rising tides and melting ice caps, this line has little meaning but maximum impact. She was playing to her base, and Greta had to leave school early as she was too excited to sit in class after hearing AOC’s oration.

Nobody disputes we need to wean the world off of Fossil Fuels, but that will be a lengthy process that requires patience and is not impetuous. We need to re-explore nuclear, which may be the cleanest fuel. Solar and wind should be incorporated but is not the answer. You cannot demonize the oil industry and then plead for their help. It would be best if you had a plan. Not a Right or Left, but bring together the brightest minds and let them get to work.

The method the administration is using will turn the country and world against them, You cannot shut off the sup0ply, drive the price to all time highs and then say oops. The world is not ready for step 2. I know this gets redundant, but why does every plan Biden introduces fall apart like a house of cards? That is because the plans are not built on a solid foundation. They are sound bites to appease special interest groups. How about we start treating the American public as someone special? They deserve it.

SHOCKING! Opponents to Free and Fair Elections in NH Swamp House Hearing!

Granite Grok - Wed, 2022-04-13 00:00 +0000

The hearing for Senate Bill SB418 to require proof of identity, residency, and citizenship in order to vote in NH was held on 4/8/22. The room was swamped with opponents of the Bill who want NH elections to be open to anyone in the world.

The Prime Sponsor of SB418 is NH State Senator Bob Giuda. He testified before the House Election Law Committee on 4/8/22:

“Every living breathing person on the planet is not entitled to vote in NH. But under current law, any living breathing person on the planet can come here and vote. Think about that. I can come here and sign a piece of paper that says ‘I’m a citizen’, or ‘I live here’.

We’ve had over two and a half million people come across the southern border of the United States in the last few years, and more are coming. How do we know whether or not they’re here voting? We don’t.”

SB418 & SB328 are two “sister bills” that (if signed into law) will prohibit unqualified people from voting. Together, they will address what Senator Giuda calls “a gaping loophole”.

SB418 will ensure that only votes cast by qualified voters will be counted in an election’s certified results.

SB328 will move the date of NH’s primary to ensure there is enough time between the primary election and the general election in order to meet the requirements of SB418 and federal voting laws to ensure our military will have enough time to submit their votes for the subsequent general election.

Problem solved! But political opponents want unfettered access to vote in NH – and they showed up in force to oppose SB418. They presented unfounded FUD talking points (fear, uncertainty and doubt) to derail the legislation.

Over and over, they raised concerns that overseas military personnel would not have enough time to vote… but that concern is addressed with sister-bill SB328.

Over and over, they expressed concerns that SB418 may violate the NH Constitution… which is why Senator Giuda worked with State Rep Bob Lynn to write the Bill. Rep. Lynn is a retired Chief Justice of the NH Supreme Court. When I asked Rep. Lynn for his thoughts, he confirmed his belief the Bill is Constitutional. He should know!

There were concerns that implementing SB418 would be too confusing. The President of the League of Women Voters New Hampshire said the laws are getting more complicated, “Not for you and me, we understand what these laws are. But for the average voter, this threatens to make those eligible voters not vote.”

That’s nonsense. The Bill is clear. People will still be able to sign an affidavit on election day and vote – even if they forget to bring any of the three basic forms of documentation:

  1. Proof of Identity: a government issued photo ID, i.e. a license or passport.
  2. Proof of Domicile: a license or a utility bill with their address on it, etc.
  3. Proof of U.S. Citizenship: a passport or birth certificate.

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE is that SB418 will REQUIRE those who did not provide proof of their identity and/or domicile on election day – to do so within 10 days AFTER the election. Those voters will be given a pre-paid, pre-addressed overnight envelope that will be delivered to the Secretary of State’s office. That’s it. Trust but verify!

If that proof is not received by the NH Secretary of State within 10 days after the election, their votes will be deducted from the election day totals before the election results are certified. The Bill has mechanisms in place to retain every voter’s confidentiality similar to those that are currently in place for absentee voting.

Recently retired Secretary of State Bill Gardner and current Secretary of State Dave Scanlan both worked with Senator Giuda on this Bill.

SB418 brings integrity to NH elections that is sorely missing. If you believe that only qualified votes should be certified in every NH election, then contact the members of the House Election Law Committee ( and respectfully ask them to support SB418 and SB328.

When you write your email, feel free to quote the Committee Chair Barbara Griffin, who was in favor of closing the loophole in 2017, when she posted this article to the NH Journal titled “Close the Domicile Loophole in New Hampshire”. Here are a few excerpts:

For too long, many people voting in our state elections have been able to register to vote and vote without proving their domicile and showing that they live in their city or ward before voting.

This is ludicrous. The majority of Granite Staters, when registering to vote, show proof of domicile. Something that shows we live where we say we live: a driver’s license, an electric bill, a rental agreement or a motor vehicle registration or another commonsense piece of evidence that proves you live where you say you do.

But many people neglect this important step and refuse to show they are domiciled here and leave, on election day, with their vote counted regardless of whether or not they actually consider the state their domicile. They sign the state domicile affidavit without showing any proof of where they live and continue on their way.

This is called the domicile loophole. This loophole leaves our elections in New Hampshire vulnerable to fraud and abuse.

Together, SB418 and SB328 will fix that loophole. Both Bills have passed through the Senate and only need to be approved by the House in order to be sent to the Governor’s desk for his signature. If you care about free and fair elections in NH, then show your support for the Bill to counter the massive coordinated opposition who want to keep NH elections as open as the U.S. Southern border.

Only NH residents who prove they meet the legal qualifications should be allowed to cast a vote. Please email the Committee now and respectfully ask them to support SB418 and SB328:

Understanding Muslims’ Mindset

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 21:00 +0000

Diffusing the present dangerous confrontation between Islam and the West demands rational impartial and cool heads to untangle facts from myth, understand the Muslims’ mindset, and redress any grievances on either side.

The Muslims’ perennial complaint is that the imperialist West—all colonial powers of the past, as well as the United States of America—have victimized them for decades and even centuries and continue to do so in every conceivable way. The litany of the alleged wrongdoings by the West is encyclopedic.

To begin with, the West has shown utter contempt for the legitimate rights of the Muslim nation by arbitrarily dividing much of the Islamic land into fractured entities, plundering its resources, and topping these crimes by installing in its midst its illegitimate stepchild of Israel—a huge thorn in their side, so they complain. “A grain of truth is needed to make a mountain of lies believable,” is an old saw. In fairness to Muslims, there is some substance to their claims against the West. For now, let us focus on the general mindset of Muslims which bears heavily on the hostility toward the West—a serious hostility that may bring about the dreaded Armageddon.

Patriarchy and authoritarianism:

The Muslim’s mind is imprinted with authoritarianism which starts with the supreme authority, Allah, through his one and only prophet, Muhammad, his Caliphs or Imams, and the high-ranking religious divines all the way down to the village clergy. This authoritarian mentality encompasses all aspects of life for Muslims. The king and his dominion as the viceroy of God, the Amir and his despotic ways, the Khan and his unchallenged rule over the tribe, the village headsman and his extensive power, and finally the father and his iron grip at home over the women and children. All these authority figures are male.

The authoritarian type poses numerous problems and presents many ramifications—ramifications much too important and complex to be comprehensively treated here. For now, it is important to understand that a person with an authoritarian personality is an extremist. He can be docility itself under certain circumstances and a maniacal murdering brute under others. He is the type who would just as happily kill or die when he is directed to do so. He would, for instance, gladly strap on an explosive vest, in obedience to a superior’s order, and detonate it in a crowd of innocent civilians without the slightest hesitation.

Blind obedience:

A dangerous feature of the authoritarian personality is the relative lack of independent thinking. This deficiency makes the person highly amenable to manipulation. Islam, by its rigidly authoritarian, makeup, robs a Muslim of independent thinking to the extent that the believer blindly adopts it as his infallible system of belief. Hence, the religion of Islam is guilty of conditioning masses of people as easily manipulatable instruments in the hands of authority figures.

Studies have shown that the authoritarian personality type can be found among all people, including Americans. The important difference is in the degree and prevalence of the condition. Islam breeds vast numbers of extremists, while in America, for instance, the prevalence is significantly lower and less severe.

Focus on the goal:

To Muslims, the goal is everything. As religious fascism, Islam condones any and all means to achieve its goals. The ultimate objective of Islam is the rule of the entire world under the Islamic Ummah—never mind that these life-in-hand soldiers of Allah disagree with one another regarding the Ummah itself and who is going to reign over it. That’s a “family dispute” that they will resolve by their usual favorite method—brute force. Each Islamic sect believes that it has the Prophet and Allah on its side and it will prevail over the other. For now, they have to work diligently to achieve the intermediary goal of defeating all non-believers. There are countless instances that substantiate Muslims’ “End justifies the means” guiding principle. This policy dates back to Muhammad himself. Muhammad repeatedly made peace covenants with his adversaries, only to violate them as soon as he was in the advantageous position to do so. Betrayal, deception, and outright lies are fully condoned in furthering the work of Islam. In the present-day world, the work of Islam is defined by a deeply-entrenched and influential clergy who issue a fatwa—rulings—that become directives and laws to the faithful.

Khomeini, the founder of the Iranian Islamic state, for one, made extensive use of the fatwa. Widely known in the west is Khomeini’s fatwa condemning Selman Rushdie to death for his book. A less known fatwa of Khomeini during the last Iran-Iraq war led to the slaughter of thousands of Iranian children. Children, nearly all under 15 years of age, were given plastic keys to paradise as they were commanded by the fatwa of the imam to rush forward to clear minefields for the tanks to follow. The Islamic murderers, in obedience to the fatwa of a bloodthirsty man of Allah, had no problem in deceiving the clueless lads by clinching made-in-China plastic keys to paradise.

Such is the existentialistic threat of Islam. It is a rigid stone-age authoritarian system with a stranglehold over many of the nearly one and a half billion people under its command.

One of the greatest subtle, yet important differences between the Muslim’s mindset and that of the people in the West is the extent to which Muslims are fatalistic. There is hardly a statement that a Muslim makes without being conditional—conditional on the will of Allah. “I shall see you tomorrow, Allah willing,” “You will make it home, Allah willing,” “Things will work out, Allah willing,” and on and on and on. To the Muslim, Allah is on the job—on every job. Allah, with his invisible mighty hand, literally does and runs everything. “Allah’s hand is above all other hands,” adorns every imaginable space in Islamic lands—a telling point about the Muslim’s fatalism and submission to the omnipotent omnipresent hand. If something happens, it is Allah’s will. If it doesn’t, it is Allah’s will. The rank and file Muslim have a little will of their own. It absolves him of any and all responsibility. This mentality is in stark contrast with the “take charge” and “can do” mentality characteristic of Americans and others.

Psychological uniqueness:

People as a group or as individuals are different and none is perfectly healthy psychologically. We all have a loose wheel or two as we travel the bumpy road of life. Yet, most people manage to stay on course most of the time, with perhaps a stop or two at a repair shop mental health professionals.

Most psychological disorders are exaggerations, deficits, or surfeits of the generally accepted norm—whatever the norm may be. When caution, for instance, is practiced past suspicion, then we have paranoia; when reasonable fear is exercised beyond any justification, then there is a phobia. The degree and severity of a condition frequently determine the presence or absence of psychopathology.

Muslims share a common Islamic psychological milieu. They are on an Islamic “diet,” whether they live in Islamic lands or in societies predominantly non-Islamic. The psychological condition of any Muslim group or individual is directly dependent on the kind and amount of Islamic diet they consume. The Islamic diet has numerous ingredients—some of which are wholesome, some are dangerously toxic, and some are between the two extremes.

Over the years, the Islamic leaders have found it expedient to feed the masses mainly the toxic ingredients to further their own interests. Individuals and groups, for instance, have used the immense energizing power of hatred to rally the faithful; the cohesive force of polarization to create in-group solidarity; and, the great utility value of blaming others for their real and perceived misfortunes. Jews have been their favorite and handy scapegoats from day one. To this day, as true fascists, like the Nazis, Muslims blame just about everything on the Jews.

Providing a comprehensive inventory of the psychological profile of Muslims is beyond the scope of this article. Yet, there is no question that the psychological makeup of a Muslim, depending on the extent of his Muslim-ness, is different from that of non-Muslims. This difference, often irreconcilable as things stand presently, is at the core of the clash of Islam with the West.

Admittedly, the non-Islamic culture is no panacea. It has, however, one outstanding feature the Islamic lacks—it allows for liberty with all its attendants— good, bad, or indifferent. For those who have experienced liberty, no inducement is likely to make them give it up—particularly not the fictional promises of the Islamists that have failed in the past and are doomed to fail even more miserably in the future.

The best, yet difficult resolution of the conflict is to do what hundreds of thousands of Muslims have already done. They have abandoned the slaveholder Islam: they broke loose from the yoke of the exploitive clergy, renounced Islamofascism, purged the discriminatory and bizarre teachings in the Quran and the Hadith, and left the suffocating tent of dogmatic Islam for the life-giving expanse of liberty.

Within the emancipating and accommodating haven of liberty, those who wish to remain Muslim can retain and practice the early teaching teachings of Islam but renounce intolerance, hatred, and violence. It takes great effort and courage to ascend from the degrading pit of slavery to the mount of emancipation. Yet, it is both possible and exhilarating to do it, since many have done so successfully and happily. As more and more people leave the shackles of religious slavery, more and more will follow, and the long-suffering Muslims, victimized by Islam itself for far too long, will be free people in charge of their own life and destiny. It is a painful process of growing up, of asserting one’s coming of age and marching in lockstep with the free members of the human race.

Slavery of the mind is as evil as the slavery of the body. Islamofascism enslaves them both.

Quick Thought – Far Be It for Me to Agree with Kathy Sullivan, But!

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 19:30 +0000

Kathy Sullivan was the NH Democrat Party Chair and long-term mucky-muck within the Democrat National Committee apparatchik. She also has had a columnist slot at the Union Leader for quite some time.

I generally chuckle over what she thinks is a truism at the core of her rantings. However, pigs flying, cows and moon, and stopped clocks and all that – I actually have to say what she wrote is almost true.  Two points were off, but she had the main gist of the story correct (emphasis mine:

Kathleen Sullivan: Who was happier to learn Mowers voted twice?

WHO WAS happier to learn Matt Mowers voted twice in presidential primaries in two different states in 2016? Gov. Chris Sununu, or the field of candidates competing against Mowers for the Republican nomination in the 1st Congressional District?

Actually, she missed four other “constituencies – herself (for “Column fodder,” Ray Buckley (current Chair, NHDP, for purposes of ridicule), Chris Pappas (a bit of relief, maybe), and then the rest of the Democrat Party.  So that’s one point. I’ll let you choose the priority list (please, do so in the comments – I’m interested in what you have to say between her priorities and mine!).

Her Sununu slag was just shoehorned in there, but I can’t find anything wrong with the logic and that Mowers took Baby Huey off the front page news cycle (for now). Her inclusion of Frank Guinta was “kinda” correct as an example but for the absolutely wrong reason:

Frank Guinta, the last Republican to hold the seat, also was a New Jersey transplant. He lost following a campaign finance scandal. No matter how much the district boundaries may change, it is doubtful that 1st Congressional District voters will want another representative with character questions.

The DEMOCRATS wanted that scandal over and over again.  Democrat Carol Shea-Porter even tried to make another point to call him a liar about not having to take out student loans to get through college. She was aghast that he kept on saying he didn’t.  I agreed with him – I paid my own way, sometimes working four or five part-time jobs to make it through my junior, senior, and first year of graduate school. It can be done, but it is the harder way to do so.

No, the second point that was the real scandal of more importance to his voter base at the time was that Guinta lied to we who were in the TEA Party movement here in NH. He promised that he would NEVER vote to increase the national debt by any means. Period. No way and no how.

He lied.

I, and GraniteGrok, spent the next year and a half reminding people of that, over and over again. He lied – and he lost.

So the latter scandal was corrected by voters – will they correct the first one?

Virginia House Bill 936 to End Sales Tax on Gold and Silver Passes Overwhelmingly

Libertarian Leanings - Tue, 2022-04-12 19:20 +0000

Jp Cortez, Sound Money Defense League:  Virginia Ends All Taxes on Purchases of Gold and Silver

(Richmond, Virginia - April 12, 2022) - By signing sound money legislation last night, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has ended Virginia’s discriminatory practice of assessing sales taxes on smaller purchases of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bullion and coins.

Virginia’s House Bill 936, originally introduced by Del. Amanda Batten, was considered by multiple House and Senate committees before passing overwhelmingly out of both chambers and reaching the governor’s desk.

Virginia had been one of only seven states in the United States maintaining merely a partial sales tax exemption on purchases of precious metals. Virginia’s regressive practice of taxing only purchases under $1,000 singled out small-time savers for a tax penalty that larger gold and silver purchases do not face.

By enacting HB 936, Virginia has set an example for legislators in California, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland, and New York, where smaller-sized purchases (under $500, $1,000, or $1,500) of precious metals are still hit with sales taxes.

The full Virginia sales tax exemption on the monetary metals will take effect on July 1 and remain in effect until at least June 30th, 2025.

Meanwhile, full exemption bills are pending in Alabama, Hawaii, New Jersey, and Tennessee, as the national backlash against taxing constitutional money accelerates in today’s environment of rising inflation and geopolitical conflict.

Including Virginia, 41 U.S. states now fully or partially exempt gold and silver from the sales taxes. That leaves 9 states and the District of Columbia as the primary jurisdictions that still harshly penalize citizens seeking to protect their savings against the serial devaluation of the Federal Reserve Note.

Jp Cortez, policy director for the Sound Money Defense League, explained that “by eliminating sales taxes on purchases of precious metals under $1,000, a huge impediment has been removed to storing one’s wealth in gold and silver.”

In her testimony in support of the bill, Del. Batten explained that it doesn’t make sense for someone to make large purchases of gold and silver tax free, but someone who wants to invest a smaller amount is punished with a tax… a tax which targets those who can afford it the least.

“Inflation has become an undeniable problem due to financial mismanagement by the Federal Reserve and by the politicians in Washington DC. Thankfully, both large and small investors in the Old Dominion can now protect the purchasing power of their wealth with sound money without being taxed,” said Money Metals Exchange president Stefan Gleason, whose company has helped lead sound money policy efforts.

States have been removing sales taxes from monetary metals for the following reasons:

  • Taxing precious metals is unfair to certain savers and investors. Gold and silver are held as forms of savings and investment. States do not tax the purchase of stocks, bonds, ETFs, currencies, and other financial instruments, so it makes no sense to tax monetary metals.
  • Levying sales taxes on precious metals is illogical because gold and silver are inherently held for resale. Sales taxes are typically levied on final consumer goods. But precious metals are inherently held for resale, not “consumption.”
  • Taxing gold and silver harms in-state businesses. It’s a competitive marketplace, so buyers in states with precious-metals sales taxes often take their business to neighboring states that have eliminated or reduced sales tax on precious metals. Coin conventions also tend to avoid the sales tax states.
  • Taxing precious metals is harmful to citizens attempting to protect their assets. Purchasers of precious metals aren’t fat-cat investors. Most who buy precious metals do so in small increments as a way of saving money. Precious metals investors are purchasing precious metals as a way to preserve their wealth against the damages of inflation. Inflation harms the poorest among us-including pensioners, Virginians on fixed incomes, wage-earners, savers, and more.

The Sound Money Defense League, a non-partisan, national public policy group working to restore sound money at the state and federal level and publisher of the Sound Money Index. Money Metals Exchange is a national precious metals investment company and news service with more than 500,000 readers and 350,000 customers. It also operates Money Metals Depository for vaulting of gold and silver and Money Metals Capital Group, a collateral lending institution.

SB400 Must Be Killed!

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 18:00 +0000

SB400 must be killed! The full House has killed 3 other similar bills in past years, this one is no different. It’s just another bite at the apple, and we can’t let them have it.

If you have not emailed or spoken to the committee yet PLEASE DO! Address to email House Municipal and County Govt:

Please read and listen to the excellent testimony that Joe Garruba, an activist from Hollis, gave to the committee at the hearing.

FYI: CNHT is the ONLY state-level taxpayer group, along with 10 or 11 town groups that are calling attention to the fact that Obama/Biden AFFH act is being implemented in NH.

Some of us have personally been told by Sununu’s crony developers that they have the governor ‘in their pockets’ and will put unsightly apartment buildings ANYWHERE THEY WANT IN TOWN, even if the planning board denies the permit, thanks to the HAB,  which is an unelected board of developers and realtors installed by REPUBLICAN SENATORS in 2020. The HAB can REVERSE any decision by ANY board at the town level.

Please Submit Group communications or Press Releases for consideration

I Wonder Who They Can Convince to Come and Collect All Those Guns

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 16:30 +0000

If anyone was paying any attention to Biden’s latest speech, and I’m not sure anyone was, he is getting serious it seems about gun control.

Okay, I know he may not fully grasp all those notes provided him for his speeches and policies but come on man, somewhere in his memory, if he thinks real hard, he must remember he opened our southern border to every illegal including every form of criminals.

Crimes of murder, rape, home invasion, assaults, muggings, you name it are soaring and he wants to disarm honest Americans?

What unbelievable contempt the left has for our Constitution, laws, and simple safety of people. Sure shot some career criminal intent on killing you and leftist prosecutors arrest and put you on trial for murder (see Kyle Rittenberger) at the same time they are releasing convicted murders from prison early because of a said disproportionate number of black in our prisons.

Guess they missed the BLM statistical release showing that 48% of violent crimes were committed by whites, Asians, Hispanics, and indigenous peoples here in America.

So what’s left?

Well, that means that blacks who are only 13% of the nation’s population are committing 52% of violent crimes (BLM’s words not mine). So how does that translate to any kind of disproportion in the exercise of criminal justice? Only idiots with a warped sense of politically motivated thinking can believe such nonsense.

Still, violent career criminal murders are getting early releases.

Everything I’ve read tells me gun sails are soaring, prices too, and many calibers of ammo are hard to find. Many buyers are also first-time gun owners. Somehow that doesn’t make me think that most people feel really warm, fuzzy, and safe here in Biden’s open borders America.

Now he and his radical leftist handlers can mandate, intimidate, and threaten until the cows come home but their chances of convincing Americans to give up their best defense against psycho criminals has the chance of snowballs in Miami.

I Wonder who they can convince to come and collect all those guns?

Podcast Reboot – Mucking About!

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 15:00 +0000

Last night, as promised, Mike, Skip, and I set out to determine if Riverside FM would solve most if not all of our remote podcasting problems. So what was the verdict?

We mucked about a bit for just under an hour, and the initial experience was a good one though I will confess to several problems, most of them mine. I used a table mic in my kitchen, and I obviously need to practice using one. My mic discipline was not great. I picked up a lot of background noise – most of which I edited out in post-production to save you the pain of listening to it.

  • Overall, this is a big leap forward. Better behavior during the recording will eliminate almost all of the post-production work.
  • None of the live music I played while recording got picked up, so I added it after, but that looks like a learning curve problem, not a design flaw.
  • We need to adjust volume input settings in Riverside (easy to do) – Mr. Rogers sounded good but Skip and I were too loud (fixed post-production)
  • We went in with no topics in mind because we were mucking about, but we may have more of a plan in the future.
  • The overlapping local audio was also not quite as clean as I hoped for, but that may still be a feature of our inexperience and local issues as it is Riverside. Time will tell.

And just an FYI – this is uploaded under The Real Resistance Podcast on Spreaker and may retain that name but again, no decision. And the reason I called it GrokTALK! 3.14159 is because this is the third iteration of our website podcast, with a few failed reboots leading to today.

So, here’s the beta product of our mucking about. We talked about whether regular people are really waking up. There was some conversation about that COVID thing of which you may have heard. We had a good discussion about this product and our previous experience doing GrokTALK! Live and in person. There was an update on the politics of a certain ski “resort” in New Hampshire and a few other bits.

Length 54:41

You can also listen on Spreaker, iHeart Radio, or Google Podcasts.

Mowers Must Drop Out

Granite Grok - Tue, 2022-04-12 13:30 +0000

We cannot have a candidate in our Republican primary is the who poster boy for election fraud on Hillary Clinton’s Twitter, while the Democrats are also actively seeking to undermine our elections.

2020 made clear how important it is to ensure that EVERY eligible voter gets but ONE vote at the ballot box.

Matt Mowers cast TWO votes in the 2016 presidential primary – one in New Hampshire and one in his home state of New Jersey – and is now trying to concoct a classic political spin instead of just owning up to what he did: cheat.

Our party cannot have a candidate who pulled a Democrat voting stunt running for office. Matt Mowers must drop out of this race. He is not on our team as that is not our way.

We want to thank Jude Augusta for this Op-Ed.
Please direct yours to

New Hampshire is tired of political spinsters – we need a real person with honor and courage to represent us in D.C. There is only one candidate in this race who has proven time and again that she will fight for election integrity – and that is Karoline Leavitt. And, unlike Matt Mowers, Karoline Leavitt – and her campaign chest – were raised here, and she shares our values.

If you want to have voter integrity – vote for the candidate that lives it, not the one that votes in multiple states. It stands to reason that when Mowers was asked by NPR if the election was illegitimate, he cleverly stated [… based upon on what I see and votes that were cast, the guy who got the most votes is sitting in the White House.”] — never adding a qualifier that the votes were “legitimate”.

Vote with and for integrity – Karoline Leavitt.
